Chapter 695 - 695 681 Driven by Interests
Chapter 695: Chapter 681: Driven by Interests Chapter 695: Chapter 681: Driven by Interests Bishui City.
San Gui analyzed, “I think Yuan Menhai should thank us. If it weren’t for us, No. One Heroes would have taken action against him long ago. They didn’t make a move on Yuan Menhai because we showed up.”
Haozi said, “So we’re safest right now.”
However, Er Gui remarked, “This Shi Mu guy has run into such tremendous luck, unexpectedly seizing such a vast area. He’s indeed struck it rich.”
Gui Lang was thinking about something. Of course, he wanted to expand his territory. He was not satisfied with just having a small corner. If he didn’t seize this opportunity, how would he play in the future? He would sooner or later be wiped out.
But ever since he took over Bishui City, it put Shi Mu and his team on guard. Shi Mu basically now controlled Ghost City, and also took over the previous area of Yang Jing. This Shi Mu was indeed more formidable than he had imagined.
It seemed that he had previously underestimated this guy who, aside from being a flatterer, was good at playing the fool as well.
Clearly, he was a pretty sharp person.
San Gui said, “Boss, we should find a way to strengthen our strength now.”
Haozi disagreed, “But we are the weakest, and now they have got control over us. We have killed them several times, but they still don’t get it.”
“We should join forces with Yuan Menhai,” said Er Gui abruptly.
Gui Lang glanced over.
San Gui, of course, knew that Gui Lang had a grudge against Yuan Menhai, but argued, “I know the leader has been offended by Yuan Menhai, but it was only because of Gua Zhengnie. A considerable amount of time has already passed since then. The most important thing now is to find ways to immediately strengthen our strength. We cannot rely solely on ourselves and have to cooperate.”
Gui Lang was silent, but San Gui’s suggestion touched him. Looking at their current strength, they couldn’t expand their territory on their own but had to find a collaborator.
San Gui continued, “Our conflict with Shi Mu’s team has already escalated to such an extent. The only ones we could possibly collaborate with are Yuan Menhai and his people. But the strength of Yuan Menhai’s side is far from what it used to be, and they have offended the New City Sect and No. One Heroes. They need help more than ever. Now, if it wasn’t for us interfering with No. One Heroes, they would have freed their hands to deal with Yuan Menhai a long time ago. It can only mean they need us even more now.”
Gui Lang perceived this idea as audacious.
San Gui paused for a moment, then added, “This is just a suggestion, not necessarily feasible. It depends on the leader’s opinion.”
Gui Lang waved his hand and said, “No, San Gui, your suggestion is very good.”
San Gui was taken aback and asked, “Does the leader find this plan feasible?”
Gui Lang nodded. He’d been considering it, saying, “It’s feasible. These days it has become increasingly difficult for us to expand our territory. We are being monitored by people from No. One Heroes, and it’s not easy to handle. We need a partner.”
“Can we trust that Yuan Menhai bastard if we team up with him?” Haozi wondered.
“I think he’s the most trustworthy one because Yuan Menhai currently is desperate for help. He has no other choice than collaborating with us,” responded San Gui and added, “Perhaps Yuan Menhai has already been considering this.”
Gui Lang hesitated for a moment.
Haozi commented, “If they really have an intention and offer us good enough benefits, we can indeed give it a good consideration.”
Er Gui added, “If he can offer us substantial benefits, considering it carefully might be feasible.”
San Gui stated, “If Yuan Menhai is a smart person, he definitely will act in the coming days.”
Gui Lang declared, “Alright, let’s see what benefits they can offer us.” He too wanted to break the deadlock and see if he could expand his territory. He refused to concede and stubbornly hold onto his one fiefdom. That’s not a long-term plan.
The situation with Gui Lang allowed the Third Demon, i.e., Yuan Menhai, to survive. However, Yuan Menhai knew it wasn’t a long-term solution. With the New City Sect on the left and No. One Heroes on the right, he’d even swept away the influence of Gua Zhengnie. The people had long forgotten Gua Zhengnie’s hatred. Now, the most critical matter was whether the Third Demon could survive. He was confident he could persuade those guys to join forces with Gui Lang.
Yuan Menhai called over Ling Bo, Zun Yu, Ming Bei, Luo Hai, and others.
Yuan Menhai explained, “I believe you are all aware of the current state of the Third Demon. We are literally caught between a rock and a hard place. No. One Heroes is clamoring to take revenge, while the New City Sect is closely watching us, probably consolidating their strength and stabilizing their territory. It’s uncertain when they will attack. No one can guarantee.”
Zun Yu responded, “Absolutely, idling is never a solution. We must take concrete actions.”
Luo Hai argued, “We do desire for some concrete actions, but they are watching us closely. The No. One Heroes are clamoring to avenge Yang Jing. We are not in the same situation as before. We surely can’t attack Ghost City, right? If we really make a move, I can assure you that within two days, the New City Sect will come to strike us.”
Ling Bo suggested, “Let’s collaborate with someone.”
His remark struck a chord with Yuan Menhai who was present.
Luo Hai questioned, “Collaborate with who? It’s impossible with the New City Sect, and No. One Heroes are still seeking vengeance for Yang Jing! Gui Lang has a deep animosity towards us.”
Ming Bei disagrees, shaking his head, “No, Gui Lang is worth considering.”
Luo Hai was puzzled, “Collaboration with Gui Lang, would he agree?” He recalled the matter regarding Gua Zhengnie.
Ming Bei responded, “Why not? Although the dispute over Gua Zhengnie’s issue has put us on the edge, Gui Lang didn’t have to hold on to it — Gua Zhengnie wasn’t his father after all. More importantly, I know that Gui Lang is in a precarious situation. Among the four powers, Gui Lang is the weakest; it’s now quite difficult for him to expand his territory.
Shi Mu from the No. One Heroes has targeted him. It’s not easy for him to expand his territory by his own efforts.”
Ling Bo agreed with Ming Bei’s remark.
Zun Yu added, “In that case, collaborating with Gui Lang may indeed be worth considering.”
Ming Bei carried on, “Absolutely a viable option. Gui Lang isn’t a fool. Having already quarreled enough with the people from No. One Heroes, there’s no way he can succeed alone. Now caught between us and the No. One Heroes, their success can only happen with our assistance.”
Zun Yu reflected, “Our current situation is indeed a bit messy. We should actually thank Gui Lang for interfering; otherwise, the No. One Heroes would have attacked us already. The only problem is whether he would agree to cooperate.”
Ling Bo stated, “However, it’s all about interests. If we offer them enough benefits, they will surely be more than glad to agree. Currently, they are the weakest, not necessarily better off than us. Just like headless flies, flying aimlessly everywhere doesn’t lead to any good ending. They want to strengthen their power, and if we can assist them, why not?”
Ming Bei supplemented, “Yes, that’s correct. As long as the benefits are sufficient, Gui Lang would ignore everything else; he would definitely agree to cooperate with us.”
Yuan Menhai understood everyone’s intentions and asked, “It seems everyone has thoughtfully considered this matter. Do you all agree that we should cooperate with Gui Lang?”
“The New City Sect is currently engrossed in strengthening its power and continuing to encroach on our territory; we cannot wait any longer. We should quickly discuss the matter with Gui Lang and see what he thinks,” said Ming Bei.
Yuan Menhai was well aware that time waits for no one.
Luo Hai resonated, “Since everybody thinks that way, there’s not much left to say. I agree with the Alliance Leader.”
Ming Bei added, “One of us should discuss it thoroughly with Gui Lang.”
Recognizing Gui Lang’s recent predicament, Yuan Menhai proposed, “Zun Yu, you have some connections with Gui Lang. Why not try to convince him? Ling Bo can accompany you where terms are negotiable as long as he agrees.”
Zun Yu glanced over and asked, “Can I really do it?”
“Ling Bo will assist you. He doesn’t hold a grudge against Gui Lang,” responded Yuan Menhai.
Zun Yu nodded, “Alright, since it has been discussed, I will go and negotiate.”
Yuan Menhai nodded his approval. If they could collaborate with Gui Lang to settle one side first before dealing with the New City Sect, it wouldn’t be such a difficult task.
If it were really the case, the situation could be turned around immediately. He couldn’t have even dreamed of such a possibility.
Luo Hai conjectured, “They must have wanted Ghost City the most.”
For Yuan Menhai, Ghost City didn’t matter; it wasn’t as important anymore. The New City Sect is the biggest threat, continuously growing stronger day by day; whereas their Third Demon sect was just the opposite, becoming weaker each day, the comparisons become clearer.
Increasingly, their Third Demon members started to lack confidence. If this continues, it is uncertain whether they could still hold a foothold in the Wastelands.
Yuan Menhai declared, “If they want Ghost City, give it to them, as long as they can seize it themselves.”
“Just empty talks.”
“It’s not our territory. If they want it, let them ask for it. What does it have to do with us?”
“Whatever conditions he proposes,” Yuan Menhai echoed in the end.
