Super God Grandmaster -
Chapter 688 - 688 674 Regardless of Cost
Chapter 688: Chapter 674: Regardless of Cost Chapter 688: Chapter 674: Regardless of Cost Slaughter Saint and his companions managed to strangle to death two groups of people from the Demon Palace and Immortal City in the canyon.
They were, of course, absolutely thrilled about this.
Meanwhile, news came from Demon Valley that Longhun and his team had arrived at Demon Valley City. Given that they had likely already commenced their assault, there was naturally even more reason to celebrate.
Mo Ku was hesitating.
“Mo Ku my brother, what else is there for you to worry about? The current situation is in our favor. We have them trapped here. Within three days, I’m certain our Young Master will take Demon Valley and break the seal.” Slaughter Saint was munching on some roasted meat, confident in his belief. After all, the Young Master was leading the Army of Death and his prowess was well-known. It only took him two days to lead the Dragon Slaying Clan across the Lost Soul System, something that most wouldn’t be able to accomplish.
On the other hand, Mo Ku was somewhat anxious, considering if these encircled individuals might go mad.
“Stop worrying. Unless they don’t fear death and disregard all costs, there is a tiny gap they could exploit. But do you think they would risk their lives like that? I don’t think so.”
Just as he said this, Guo Mingyu, for reasons unknown, suddenly launched a fierce attack with an all-or-nothing daredevil spirit, aiming to break through from the front with an unprecedented ferocity.
Mo Ku asked, “What happened?”
A subordinate replied from behind, “I’m not sure, but Guo Mingyu has launched a violent offensive. It’s more aggressive than ever before, as if he is prepared to perish with us.” A series of loud noises echoed in response.
Mo Ku theorized that they might have heard about the situation in Demon Valley and had consequently grown anxious.
However, Slaughter Saint assured him, “It’s nothing. It’s true that they outnumber us, but it’s absolutely impossible for them to pass through us with ease unless they disregard all costs.”
Before long, an intensified battle broke out. The Immortal Beasts took the lead in rushing forward, the Winged Dragons coordinating with their assault. It seemed they were ready to risk everything in a final push.
Mo Ku dared not be careless.
Slaughter Saint declared, “A bunch of fools! Let me handle this. I’ll take care of these guys.” He immediately led his men to meet the challenge.
Guo Mingyu launched a furious attack as if to signal his desperate situation, and his blatant disregard for consequences heightened the intensity of the clash.
“Old man Guo Mingyu is in a hurry. Good! I’m an expert at dealing with mad dogs. Come on, let’s see how mad you can get.” Slaughter Saint led a large group to confront the opposition.
Guo Mingyu harnessed all his stored power and went all in. He knew this chance was once-in-a-lifetime. An hour’s rest was sufficient, and he had to make Slaughter Saint believe he was at his breaking point, enraged beyond control and determined to break through, irrespective of the consequences.
Slaughter Saint exclaimed, “Damn, Guo Mingyu has sincerely gone mad!”
Mo Ku rushed over with his men, wondering to himself if Guo Mingyu had truly been provoked into a rage. Although Guo wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, he knew him to be a clear-headed and rather composed individual. The last time Guo Mingyu ended up trapped because of Hu Nanyue.
“They want to fight us to the death and break through from here. Dear elder brother, call our men over quickly.”
If he didn’t summon their men soon, it would likely spell doom for them.
Slaughter Saint asked again, “Elder brother, what’s holding you back?”
Mo Ku remained silent, but queried, “Do you truly believe Guo Mingyu is typically this impetuous?”
Slaughter Saint answered, “Elder brother, look at the time! Didn’t you say it yourself! Guo Mingyu definitely knows about the situation in Demon Valley by now. He fears that our Young Master will break the seal before they can make it back here. They’re worried about the Xuan Clan members. You have to understand, if the Demon Valley seal is broken, so many people will die. Hence, he is ready to risk it all and get through.”
After some silence, Mo Ku had no choice but to agree.
“Elder brother, they’ve gone mad! Quickly call the men from the sides, or else they’ll breakthrough from here.” Slaughter Saint was worried but confident. With Guo Mingyu ready to pay the price, Slaughter Saint was prepared to make him bleed, believing that “an opportunity is difficult to come by. This is their best chance. If they miss this, goodness knows when they’ll get another. Hurry up, brother.”
After hearing this, Mo Ku finally agreed and said, “Alright.” He instantly ordered his two subordinates to rally their forces from both sides.
Guo Mingyu mustered all his energy. Not caring for anything else, he had already calculated the number of the Dragon Slaying Clan present. He knew, as long as he launched an all-out offensive, the opposition would be short-staffed and the Demon Palace forces could find their weaknesses. Of course, this would cost many lives. Yet as expected, the Dragon Slaying Clan believed him.
He quickly nudged Su Zhanze and advised, “boy, remember this: defend Demon Valley. Nothing is more important than that.”
He knew that Su Zhanze’s martial arts had improved significantly recently. He was becoming increasingly better, even better than himself.
Su Zhanze nodded in acknowledgment, eyeing Guo Mingyu.
“You must understand our mission. Nothing is more important than defending the seal of Demon Valley. Only by protecting it can we find a way to defeat the Dragon Slaying Clan. If the seal is broken, it won’t just be about defeating the Dragon clan anymore, dealing with the Raging Wolf Clan itself will be very difficult.”
Guo Mingyu continued to speak, “Don’t worry, as long as I don’t need to go through the canyon, I can use the night and definitely escape on time.”
Su Zhanze cautioned, “You must be careful.”
Guo Mingyu fell silent for a moment and then said, “if you can’t make it on time and Longhun unleashes the Raging Wolf Clan, don’t try to be a hero. Survive first, then we can think of something.”
“That won’t happen. I won’t let them unleash the Raging Wolf Clan.” Su Zhanze made a promise.
“I fear you may not make it in time.” His fear of the unforeseen made him continue, “if this happens, don’t attempt to fight. It’s useless. Survive first, then we’ll think of a way.”
“I understand, my father-in-law.”
“You’re not a child anymore; you should understand what’s important. You’re a Sect Leader; you should be able to face this test.” Guo Mingyu continued, “as soon as I shake them off, I’ll rush to you as quickly as possible.”
“Understood.”
“Alright, be careful. I’ve noticed your martial arts has improved a lot recently, commendable indeed. But your heart isn’t mature enough yet. It’d be nice if you could develop a bit more wisdom.”
Hu Nanyue also came over.
Guo Mingyu looked at Hu Nanyue and said, “Younger brother, you are impulsive. But in everything we do, we must consider well. Longhun is too clever. He might trap us at any given time. Think thoroughly first. Consider if it is a trap.”
Hu Nanyue listened and nodded upon hearing Guo’s words.
“Let’s move. I can only buy you an hour.”
Riding on whatever strength left he possessed, Guo Mingyu launched a fierce attack immediately, advancing directly towards Slaughter Saint in front. He even shouted loudly, “If you think that you can trap me, think twice! I wonder how many you lot really are.”
Slaughter Saint coldly sneered, “Old man, don’t be arrogant. You’re running out of time.”
Guo Mingyu charged forward, striking at Slaughter Saint for a series of blows. Each was lethal.
“Have I snatched your wife? Why are you so desperate?”
“You demons, you will not succeed!”
Then Mo Ku also came to lend a hand.
At this time, Su Zhanze and Hu Nanyue began to drive the Giant Beasts towards the other side.
Mo Ku seeing it, said, “No, this is simply a feint. Their real target is that small gap.”
“Really now? Are these guys earnestly marching to death?”
Mo Ku commanded, “Release the Winged Dragon to attack them!”
Hu Nanyue, as quick as possible, used Winged Dragons as a shield and Immortal Beasts as cover, tried to evade the incoming fireballs and minimize the damage. Moreso as the route is more susceptible to attacks, they released thick smokes to blind the attackers, preventing the approaching Winged Dragons from making out the situation below.
Seeing Mo Ku advancing, Guo Mingyu was certain he could not let Mo Ku escape. He decided to doggedly keep Mo Ku in place, to buy Hu Nanyue and the rest an hour.
Mo Ku and his people were now here. Trying to shake Guo Mingyu off in one move wasn’t going to be an easy task.
Guo Mingyu shouted, “Ling Jian, release the Winged Dragon and attack them fiercely!”
Ling Jian of course knew what Guo Mingyu meant, and immediately released the Winged Dragon, launching a ferocious attack. In no time, the field was a scene of carnage.
Hu Nanyue and Su Zhanze didn’t care how many casualties they incurred. They took their chances and barged straight ahead, speed was all that mattered now. What happened behind they no longer cared, even if it meant trading three lives for one.
Leading a large number of people, Su Zhanze finally broke through the canyon.
Slaughter Saint was fuming mad. Bellowing, “You damned old man, you dared trick me!”
“Heh, such a child!” Guo Mingyu coldly shot a glance.
“Seems like you’re courting death!” Slaughter Saint seemed to be pissed off.
Guo Mingyu could also feel his strength almost spent.
Ling Jian hurries over to help, having some people assist him to block Slaughter Saint, and said: “Master, Su Zhanze and the others have got through.”
“Good, very good.”
“Should we retreat now?”
Guo Mingyu nodded upon hearing it, quickly had Ling Jian and Song Shuangfeng cover the rear, taking along the people who had just been attacked, and started to retreat.
Mo Ku glanced, realizing the overall result was set in stone.
Staring at the mouth of the valley, scattered with corpses of Demon Palace and Immortal City disciples, Slaughter Saint muttered, “This Guo Mingyu is truly willing to pay any price.”
Mo Ku too was taken aback, but he soon understood, “Guo Mingyu realizes if our young master were to break the seal, their losses would be even greater.”
“What’s the plan now, seeing Su Zhanze and Hu Nanyue have taken a portion of their forces across?”
“We are too late to catch up, we can only alert the young master so they are prepared.”
“Such a damned Guo Mingyu, little did we expect him to play such tricks on us.”
“Forget it.”
“Do we surround Guo Mingyu?”
“Even if we could trap them in this canyon for so long, we don’t have enough strength to surround them. This place, to begin with, isn’t ideal for encirclement. While the two sides have mountains, creating a natural trap, the back is open, suitable for escapes.”
