Chapter 665: Chapter 651: Surge Chapter 665: Chapter 651: Surge Ye Chen arrived in Ghost City at midnight. He was met by a man sent by Zhong Yao and was escorted inside.

He was placed in a secluded inn.

Can Mo was also staying in the inn. He was somewhat surprised by Ye Chen’s arrival, but he seemed to understand the purpose of his visit.

“This bloody move has really settled things,” Can Mo said upon seeing Ye Chen.

Ye Chen, Yun’er, and Li Mo also entered.

Zhong Yao said, “Sect Leader, it’s getting late. Shi Mu will come and see you tomorrow.” He then said goodbye to Ye Chen and his companions.

Suddenly, only Ye Chen, Li Mo, Guo Yuyun, and Can Mo were left in the room.

The food had been prepared in advance.

“After this battle, I believe the end of the Third Demon is near,” Can Mo expressed excitedly.

But Ye Chen responded, “It’s not that soon. We can’t celebrate prematurely.”

“I’m hungry and I don’t care what you guys are talking about,” Yun’er announced as she began to eat.

Can Mo advised, “Indeed, you two haven’t had dinner yet. Eat while we talk.”

Ye Chen sat down too.

“I believe they will collapse completely before long,” Can Mo said with confidence.

“How is the situation here?” Ye Chen inquired.

Can Mo replied, “Gui Lang has been moved to Futu City and no longer poses a threat to Shi Mu.”

Upon hearing this, Ye Chen nodded. This was good news; he heard recently that Gui Lang and Shi Mu had been experiencing discord.

Can Mo suddenly said, “However, something strange is happening!”

“What strange thing?” Ye Chen asked.

Can Mo revealed, “Jue Ming seems to be meeting with the people of the Third Demon.”

“Are the people of the Third Demon in Ghost City?”

Can Mo replied, “Yeah, I just found that out.”

“So Jue Ming is not the leader of Shi Mu’s group?”

“Yes. However, since the last time you helped establish Shi Mu’s merit, saved Yang Jing, and routed Yuan Menhai, Jue Ming started to receive special attention from Yang Jing. He has been promoted with the assistance of Hong Ying, and has now surpassed his former position thanks to Bishui City’s aid for Yang Jing. Jue Ming is now the second-in-command of the No. One Heroes and just a patrol leader in Ghost City,” Can Mo reported.

While eating his grilled chicken, a now somewhat hungry Ye Chen then questioned, “What is Jue Ming seeing a person from the Third Demon for?” He began to feel puzzled, having heard that Jue Ming was recently throwing tantrums.

Can Mo suggested, “Maybe they are just old friends.”

Shaking his head, Ye Chen murmured, “I know that Jue Ming assisted Yang Jing in establishing the No. One Heroes. Without his help, Yang Jing wouldn’t have been able to grow so rapidly, much less take over Ghost City so easily.”

“So, Yang Jing is really ungrateful! He actually made Jue Ming patrol the city,” Li Mo chimed in, sounding a bit indignant as he continued eating.

“Yes indeed, Yang Jing has gone a bit overboard,” Can Mo agreed.

Ye Chen then asked, “So Jue Ming must be quite dissatisfied, right?”

Can Mo chuckled and said, “Of course he’s extremely discontented. However, that’s the person Yang Jing is. He endures hardships with others, but enjoys good fortune by himself.”

Ye Chen’s expression turned slightly stern as he then asked, “Are you sure that Jue Ming is meeting someone from the Third Demon?”

Ye Chen then questioned, “Do you know how Gua Zhengnie died?” With his secret plan to kill Yang Jing during this visit, and after hearing about Jue Ming’s resentment towards Yang Jing, he found it highly suspicious that Jue Ming was currently meeting with someone from the Third Demon.

“Are you suggesting that Jue Ming will possibly join forces with the Third Demon to kill Yang Jing?” Can Mo was stunned by the thought.

Ye Chen explained, “Why not? Given Jue Ming’s deep resentment, combined with him meeting someone from the Third Demon, isn’t it possible that the Third Demon will seize this opportunity to exploit Jue Ming’s anger to eliminate Yang Jing? “You’re right,” agreed Can Mo, who immediately summoned two of his men, instructed them briefly, and then dispatched them.

Can Mo reassured Ye Chen, “Don’t worry. If anything happens, we should know by tomorrow.”

Ye mumbled to himself, “This is highly probable. If we can persuade Shi Mu, why wouldn’t they be able to do the same with Jue Ming?”

Can Mo nodded in agreement and said, “Sect Leader, you’re absolutely right. It must be because these past few days have been too quiet that I’ve become negligent.”

Ye Chen simply smiled.

“I’d better go clarify this matter myself. If Jue Ming really secretly kills Yang Jing like what happened in Sky Domain City, then wouldn’t our efforts be wasted?” Can Mo stood up, feeling the situation might be more serious than he previously thought, and added, “All right, you guys can continue eating. I will find out what’s going on as soon as possible.”

“Just make sure nobody recognizes you,” warned Ye Chen.

Upon hearing that, Can Mo chuckled and said, “Don’t worry, I’ll be careful. You two just keep on eating.”

Li Mo stood up and said, “I think I’ll go with you. I don’t want to intrude on these two lovebirds.”

After hearing this, Can Mo laughed heartily, and said, “This inn isn’t big, but the owners are old friends I can trust. You can go to them with any needs.”

“All right, let them prepare a tub of water in the room next to mine. I need to soak for a while. The days of traveling in the desert have made me miserable.” Guo Yuyun, who was eating, felt as if her hair had turned into steel wires.

Can Mo nodded and said, “Okay, I will have them prepare it for you and put it in the room next door.”

Then, Can Mo asked Ye Chen, “Sect Leader, do you want me to prepare a tub of water for you here as well?”

But Li Mo said, “Hey, don’t you understand anything? They want to soak together like mandarin ducks. There’s no need for two tubs.”

Yun’er was so furious that she threw a chicken foot at them, causing Can Mo to burst out laughing.

Li Mo, laughing, made a quick exit with Can Mo.

Ye Chen was still chuckling and said, “That’s an idea worth considering.”

“Consider it with your disciple.” Yu Yun was obviously referring to Wan Danrong.

Then, the door was closed again.

Ye Chen suddenly became quiet and began to ponder what Can Mo had just said. If it was true, it seemed like it may be a good thing.

The food was quite sumptuous. Half a chicken and a fish later, Guo Yuyun felt much better.

With her mouth full of oil, she thought and then said, “If it’s really as you said, and the Third Demon’s people want to use Jue Ming to kill Yang Jing, can’t we take advantage of that?”

Ye Chen asked with a smile, “How would you take advantage?”

“You’ve been trying to figure out how to handle the situation if we actually manage to kill Yang Jing. I think we can use Jue Ming to shift the blame, or maybe we don’t even need to shift the blame if we just push Shi Mu to the front.” Guo Yuyun continued, “When the time comes and they kill Yang Jing, they will surely try to become the city lord. We can show up after they kill Yang Jing and take them out then.”

“Not bad, seems you haven’t lost all your senses. But all this is still just speculation. We don’t know for sure yet.”

“Speak for yourself!”

Ye Chen chuckled and continued to eat.

“You actually agree with my thinking, don’t you?”

As Ye Chen scarfed down the roast chicken, he commented that, although the inn wasn’t terribly upscale, the food was still quite good.

“If it’s really like that, then everything will make sense.”

Ye Chen sat there quietly, focusing on his meal.

“If we’re really successful and manage to fully align ourselves with the No. One Heroes, we can absolutely destroy the Third Demon. They would certainly be no match for us, and taking control of the Wastelands would be ours for the taking.”

“Forget about all that for a moment. I’m exhausted tonight and just want to have a quick soak and a good rest. I don’t want to think about anything else.” Ye Chen walked towards the window. It was his first time visiting Ghost City. Nothing about the streets of the city had changed from when he was last here with Ling’er.

“Do you see the Piaoxiang Tavern over there?”

“Wow, I see it. It’s bustling.”

Hearing this, Yun’er gave a cold laugh and asked, “Do you plan on going over there for a spin?”

“Even if I do, I wouldn’t tell you. Do you think I’m dumb?”

Yun’er snorted.

The surrounding area became quiet as the evening slowly fell.

“I’m not going to chat with you anymore. I really need to change out of these clothes.” Yun’er had already stood up.

“How about I join you for a little mandarin duck bath?”

“Go hang out with your monkey mom and have fun.”

Ye Chen laughed and said, “Isn’t the monkey mother next door?”

“Get lost.” Yun’er turned around and walked back into the room next door.

Although Shi Mu had never met Ye Chen, the two great things Ye Chen did completely convinced him of Ye Chen’s talent and made him believe in the New City Sect even more.

He was convinced that the Wastelands would eventually be theirs.

Zhong Yao told Shi Mu that Ye Chen had arrived.

Shi Mu was extremely excited and asked, “Should I prepare some sort of gift for him?”

Zhong Yao smiled and said, “Ye Chen isn’t big on that sort of thing.”

“How would you know!”

“Well, I haven’t spent a lot of time interacting with him, but from what I gather, he’s a very practical person and doesn’t like to play games.”

“I’ve been dreaming of meeting him. I just can’t believe he’s only eighteen.”

“Believe it or not, he’s an eighteen-year-old kid.” said Zhong Yao.

“I’m looking forward to meeting him tomorrow.”

“Do you know who deduced that the Third Demon was planning to surround Yang Jing in Bishui City?”

“Our Sect Leader?”

“Yes, our Sect Leader.”

“I believe it, for the ability to completely bring down the Third Demon using two battles is not something that ordinary people can do. Yuan Menhai was always a complex character, and to have him fall into a trap is very difficult.”
