Chapter 433 - 433 419 Guo Yuyun Throws a Tantrum

Chapter 433: Chapter 419: Guo Yuyun Throws a Tantrum Chapter 433: Chapter 419: Guo Yuyun Throws a Tantrum At first, Guo Yuyun was quite moved. Jiang Zhuge had tried to get Ye Chen not to hand over the Jade Ring. Knowing he hadn’t listened to him made it clear to Yuyun how worried he was about her. Now, he was blaming her, and so angry at her.

“I didn’t force you,” Yuyun protested.

“Exactly, you didn’t force me. I asked you to leave first with your dad, but you didn’t listen,” Ye Chen argued.

“Does this have anything to do with whether I chose to leave with my father or not?”

“What do you think? If you had left with your dad, would they have had this opportunity?”

Yuyun was at a loss for words.

Ye Chen had already turned his back on her, not even asking how badly she was hurt, even though he knew she had just grazed her skin.

“Right, in your eyes, I’m just a burden. You should have let her kill me with that sword. That way, I wouldn’t owe anyone anything.”

“Hah, is it? You realize you’re a burden,” Ye Chen responded, storming off into the distance.

Yuyun was filled with self-reproach. She kicked the tree stump in front of her hard, letting out an “Ouch…”. Ye Chen didn’t turn around and kept walking forward.

Li Mo yelled out from above, “Yuyun, let’s go.”

Yuyun felt as though she had offended everyone. She protested under her breath, full of resentment yet helpless, muttering, “It’s not like I wanted this!”

Hearing this, Li Mo responded, “It’s not your fault, Ye Chen’s just upset. Don’t take it to heart.”

“Why did he save me then if he didn’t want to?”

“Why do you think?” Li Mo knew the answer very well, especially after what Meng Xiuluo said. It was piercing like a knife.

“It must have been that girl who mentioned Ling’er and agitated Ye Chen.”

Li Mo nodded and said, “That girl and Ye Chen used to live in the same courtyard. She knows Ye Chen’s weakness. She kidnapped you because she knew Ye Chen would give up the Jade Ring for you.”

“What? Ye Chen knows her?”

“Well, it’s an old story. She disguised herself as a pitiful girl and infiltrated us after an accident to gather information,” said Li Mo.

“There was such an incident?”

“Ling’er also knew her. She once tried to steal the Jade Ring but failed,” Li Mo continued. “Don’t blame yourself; it’s not your fault. They planned this long ago, targeting you, so you can’t blame yourself.”

“You don’t have to comfort me anymore. I know I’m useless and only bring trouble,” said Yuyun.

“Stop talking nonsense. Ye Chen won’t blame you. That was just said in a fit of anger, he’ll forget about it soon.”

Yuyun slowly made her way up.

“Your neck?”

“It’s okay, just grazed it a bit. I won’t die.”

“Beware not to leave a scar,” advised Li Mo with concern.

Nodding, Yuyun said,

“I still have some medicine for the wound.”

“It’s fine, really, don’t worry. I’m tough to kill.” She wasn’t in the mood for that right now.

Li Mo chuckled at her words.

“Stop laughing. What should we do now?”

Li Mo suggested, “Chasing them is futile. Our only option is to go quickly and inform your father about what happened so they can prepare. It would be dangerous if they were caught off guard.”

“Will many people die because of me?”

“Why think of such things?” Li Mo rebuked.

“Who could have predicted that members of the Dragon Slaying Clan were lurking in the woods.”

Li Mo chuckled, amused.

“Forget about it. Have you eaten anything yet?”

Yuyun shook her head, “Who’s in the mood for food?”

“Alright, I’ll take you to eat something. Don’t worry about the rest; there will be a way,” Li Mo tried to soothe her.

“I was touched before, but now, I’m at a loss for what to do.”

“Didn’t I tell you? This isn’t your fault. We were not careful enough, not cautious. They had planned this.”

Ye Chen and the team forged ahead towards the mountain.

Yuyun slowly followed them from behind. Gradually, Ye Chen calmed down, regaining his cool demeanor.

Your losing the Jade Ring, he knew, could potentially ruin all the hard work. Talking didn’t matter now. The main task ahead was finding a way to face what came next.

Jiang Zhuge had also calmed down.

But they remained silent for quite a while.

At that moment, Jiang Zhuge was rational, but he could understand Ye Chen’s perspective. Suppose he had been forced to choose between his emotions and reason, between allowing her to be killed and handing over the Jade Ring. In that case, he didn’t know if he could be so indifferent. He doubted he could either.

So, he understood Ye Chen’s actions.

“Sect leader, I am sorry for losing my temper earlier,” Jiang Zhuge admitted awkwardly.

“No, it’s not you. It’s my mistake,” Ye Chen reciprocated.

“I didn’t see it coming, my mistake was not expecting the Dragon Slaying Clan to hide a group of their men in the woods. I didn’t expect them to aim for the Jade Ring,” Jiang Zhuge replied.

“It was my oversight,” Ye Chen confessed.

Yuyun slowly, somewhat embarrassed, joined them.

“How is your wound?” Jiang Zhuge asked with concern.

Yuyun responded curtly, quite breathless, “I won’t die.”

“Quite a temper,” Ye Chen retorted, rather coldly.

Jiang Zhuge mentioned, “There was a legend that the Dragon Slayer Sword, imbued with the power of the Mutant Winged Dragon, can combat the Taiji Array. I don’t know if it was true or not, because it never happened. But if it’s true, then the Dragon Slayer Sword could also counter the Demon Palace City’s defense system.”

Ye Chen nodded in agreement. The balance had tilted in Dragon Slaying Clan’s favor.

“I hope we can figure something out.” Jiang Zhuge marched forward, looking very worried.

Yu Yun staggeringly tagged along behind him. When she appeared, she did not greet Ye Chen; she looked like a child who had thrown a pout.

A white bandage was loosely wrapped around her neck, but it had come undone and was no better than not having one at all.

Ye Chen coughed, stating, “Hey, hey, walking past me without even greeting your savior.”

Yu Yun gave him a cold look and continued her way forward.

Ye Chen retorted, “Is that how you bandage a wound! What’s the difference then between this and not having one at all?”

“You’re really poking your nose into everything.” Yu Yun complained, still seemingly angry.

“Stop right there.”

“What’s the matter now? Am I bothering you?” Yu Yun sarcastically responded.

“Heh, I never expected you to be so petty. You can’t stand a few words of criticism.”

“And you think you’re any different!”

“Right, I’m not at all,” admitted Ye Chen as he tried to approach her to redress her wound.

Yu Yun quickly removed the bandage and yelled, “No need to pretend to care!” Now at the hillside, the day had abruptly become hot, causing sweat to quickly bead up on their skin. The bandage on her neck was making her especially uncomfortable, so she haphazardly threw it away—almost as though she was trying to provoke Ye Chen.

Ye Chen saw her wound; the blood had dried, fortunately, it wasn’t too deep.

“So, I pretend to care, eh! Do you think me saving you was just for show?”

Yu Yun continued moving forward, and the team was now straggling along in a long line toward the top of the mountain.

“Whatever I owe you, I’ll pay it back.”

Ye Chen got curious and asked, “How do you plan on doing that?”

“How would you like it?”

“I really don’t want anything from you, but if you insist on repaying me, then go ahead.”

Yu Yun murmured under her breath as she slowly continued up the hillside.

“Would’ve been better off dead; it would’ve been a more merciful fate.”

“Oh, really! It seems that I didn’t afford you that opportunity. That was quite inconsiderate of me,” Ye Chen sarcastically replied.

“I shouldn’t have known you. If I didn’t, that girl wouldn’t have used me to threaten you.”

“So, it’s all my fault, huh?” Ye Chen exclaimed, surprised.

“He targeted you, that’s why it happened,” Yu Yun reasoned.

“Right, you’re correct, she was indeed targeting me. Hence, she took the actions she did. That’s why I always tell you, stay away from me. But you never listen, what can I do?”

Yu Yun gave him a cold glance upon hearing him.

“Stop blaming me, okay? I admit, I made a mistake. By getting you involved with the people I was dealing with, I caused you to suffer. Does that satisfy you?”

“Of course, it was definitely those who you messed with, I was just an innocent bystander. They couldn’t deal with you, so they targeted me.”

“Alright, alright, all responsibilities are mine,” Ye Chen conceded.

Li Mo, who was eavesdropping on their conversation, thought they were quite amusing—arguing one moment and making up the very next.

“How could I let anything happen to you? Your dad would have my head,” said Ye Chen.

“Don’t even mention about my dad chopping you off, it’s all your own doing.”

“Right, I just wasn’t cold-blooded enough. If I was, I would have let her stab you.”

Yu Yun knew full well that he was deliberately provoking her, responded, “She knows your weakness, knows how you can’t let go of the people up ahead.”

“Hmm, she knows me well, knows I’m not a ruthless person.”

Yu Yun, of course, knows why the girl succeeded; the words still resonate with her.

“Are you not going to properly take care of that wound?”

“You said it yourself, I won’t die from it.”

“So, you would rather leave a scar on your neck; is that one way to make yourself feel better?”

“Couldn’t take care of it here, and it isn’t bleeding anymore,” responded Guo Yuyun, who seemed less irritable than before.

“Alright then, suit yourself, it’s your problem anyway,” Ye Chen said, intending to leave.

“I need some food.”

Ye Chen called out, “Li Mo.”

Li Mo quickly brought her some food. Yu Yun had formerly claimed she wasn’t hungry, but now it seemed her appetite had returned.

Ye Chen shouted, “Also, find some medicine for her to apply.”

“Don’t need you to tell me that, I’d do that anyway.”

Ye Chen walked off towards the front.

Li Mo, watching Ye Chen walk away, said, “See, I told you. Ye Chen truly cares for you. You believe me now, don’t you?”

Yu Yun shot him a cold glance, continuing to eat.

“I’ll prepare some medicinal herbs for you.”

“No need for that, I don’t even know what you’re using. As long as we cross this mountain, we’ll reach Demon Palace City by tonight. Once we get back to Demon Palace City, I’ll have all sorts of medicinal herbs for wounds.”

“Alright then, as you wish,” Li Mo replied.

Meng Xiuluo held the Jade Ring tightly. Last time, he should have gotten it, but he had to wait for so many days and so many people died in the process.

Xiang Yi was rather excited, exclaiming, “Finally, we’ve got the Jade Ring. Now we have a way to deal with their defense system, right?”

Meng Xiuluo carefully examined the Jade Ring, worried that he might have been deceived again. He only relaxed a bit once he confirmed it was indeed the Jade Ring.

“Our leader will surely be pleased.”

Meng Xiuluo asked, “There is no one following us, right?”

“Impossible, they have no chance of catching up,” Xiang Yi confidently replied. They had already ridden their horses a good several miles, assured that no one was chasing them before they dared to relax.
