Chapter 341 - 341 328 Mutant Winged Dragon is Ready
Chapter 341: Chapter 328: Mutant Winged Dragon is Ready Chapter 341: Chapter 328: Mutant Winged Dragon is Ready Sheng Kong paced around in deep thought. Both Shi Tuo and Huan Huo were watching him. He did think that Shi Tuo had a point and that it was best not to provoke the likes of Mutant Winged Dragon. The Dragon had now unified the Wuji Domain, the South Wasteland, and even the Wastelands, a place where the inhabitants of Immortal City and Demon Domain dared not venture. All these territories were now under his control.
If he truly enraged the Dragon and it turned against them, attacking the Evil Domain directly, no one would come to their aid. They would need to hide and live in constant fear, even if they were not conquered.
Since the Dragon had now made his move, and considering that he too had intentions of returning to the Central Plains, he could follow suit. There might be something to gain from this. Importantly, the Dragon was the target the Immortal City and Demon Domain sought to eliminate; they wouldn’t focus their attention on the Evil Domain. This situation would offer them an unexpected safety and an opportunity to act.
After a long time, Sheng Kong asked, “Do you think that Gao Ba from the Demon Domain would launch an attack on Heavenly City if they received such a letter?”
Shi Tuo replied, “I believe they would, most likely. They also wouldn’t want to provoke the madman, the Dragon. He has everything planned out. Perhaps he sent this letter to test us; he knows that we fear them, and he wants to see if we are willing to give in slightly.”
But Huan Huo said, “Regardless, I’m not afraid of that Mutant Winged Dragon. Let them come if they dare. To think they can threaten us with a few words – they must be dreaming!”
Shi Tuo added, “No, the Dragon indeed is a madman. It’s best not to provoke him. There’s no harm in complying with his demands. Once he is content, perhaps he might hold a favorable impression of us. He certainly can’t retaliate against us after we’ve helped him out. That’s just not right. We should proactively avoid trouble. If we fail in our attempt, we retreat. If we succeed, we stand to gain greatly. Didn’t he say himself… once we conquer Heavenly City, all its wealth will become ours.”
Sheng Kong nodded and said, “All right. You’re right, Shi Tuo. It’s best not to provoke the mad Dragon. It won’t hurt to listen to him this time, it will be easier to manage in the future.”
Shi Tuo nodded in response.
“Find out if that mad Dragon is indeed attacking Immortal City. Then we’ll retreat. Also, figure out the layout of the Immortal City and Demon Domain – we don’t want to walk into an ambush. I don’t want a replay of what happened with the Zen Master when he ambushed the New City Sect, resulting in the deaths of several hundred people and a swarm of sacred beasts,” said Sheng Kong.
Shi Tuo nodded again.
Huan Huo, however, said, “Damnable Dragon, why won’t he make everybody on Dragon Slayer Island go out. If he likes to attack so much, he should let his own people do it, instead of having us risk our lives while he keeps his people in the safety of Dragon Slayer Island.”
Shi Tuo replied, “I believe the Dragon’s thought of that. But for now, all the people in the Immortal City and Demon Domain are aware of the Dragon Slaying Clan’s intent to counter them. They’ll certainly keep a close eye on the Dragon Slaying Clan. Perhaps, the Dragon thinks that the people of Immortal City and Demon Domain won’t expect the Dragon Slaying Clan to cooperate with us, so he plans to use that to his advantage.”
“The only trouble is that we could end up attracting the ire of Immortal City and Demon Domain, while they get to avoid the heat altogether. If we managed to defeat the Immortal City and Demon Domain, they could reaps all the benefits without lifting a finger.”
“Alas, there is no other way. This is the inevitable fate of those who live in the cracks. We really don’t have any other choice but to comply.”
Sheng Kong said, “Enough. Let’s prepare. Keep an eye on the Immortal City and Demon Domain, and the movements of the Dragon Slaying Clan. If there’s any new information, report it to me immediately.”
Shi Tuo nodded in response.
Ultimately, Sheng Kong, the Evil King of the Evil Domain, had no choice but to acquiesce to the Dragon’s demand, opting to make a trip to the Central Plains. If they could accomplish the task, it would be a victory; if not, they would retreat. This proactive approach would hopefully avoid angering the mad Dragon. Sheng Kong was more interested in knowing whether the forces from the Demon Domain had been mobilized. Because if they were to attack Heavenly City, it would be made far easier with the assistance of Gao Ba’s troops. So, he didn’t want to risk his Evil Domain for Heavenly City.
He agreed with Shi Tuo’s words. Thinking about it, Gao Ba probably didn’t dare to provoke the Dragon and most likely would eventually comply. All Sheng Kong needed to do now was to figure out the intentions of the people from the Demon Domain. Then, they could form an alliance with them. Following these procedures, The Immortal City and the Demon Domain were on high alert.
Meanwhile, the Dragon had already charged into the Central Plains.
A subordinate carrying a letter came to find the Dragon and reported that the Evil Domain and the Demon Domain had agreed to his petition.
The Dragon smiled faintly upon hearing the news. Seemed like this strategy was effective. Luckily, they had gained additional allies.
Having charged into the Central Plains, the Dragon knew that all the attention from Immortal City and Demon Domain was on him. He had no intention of hiding it: Immortal City was his target and he wanted everyone in Immortal City and Demon Domain to believe it. He had no plans to hide his motives.
A disciple asked, “Wouldn’t this make things too easy for the Evil Domain and the Demon Domain?”
The Dragon laughed and said, “At best, they can only conquer the Heavenly City. But for us, if they truly take control of the Heavenly City, it would be a major blow to the Immortal City and Demon Domain. With their forces in disarray, we could then take control of the whole of Immortal City and Demon Domain, and thereby the entire Central Plains. Which one is better now?”
“Of course, taking control of the entire Central Plains would be better; need you even ask?”
“As long as you understand.”
“But with everyone’s eyes on us, the danger will follow.”
“Are the members of the Dragon Slaying Clan afraid of danger? There’s never been a time when we feared danger. If we were afraid, we wouldn’t have returned to the Central Plains. Don’t concern yourself with the potential dangers. Once we conquer the Central Plains, you will all be liberated.”
The others began to get excited.
The Dragon continued, “I know you’ve all followed me through battles north and south. It hasn’t been easy and I’m sure you all yearn for rest, as do I. But now is a critical moment. You must remain focused. Let’s vanquish Immortal City and then the Immortal-Demon Alliance.”
“Rest assured. Victory over the Immortal-Demon Alliance is something we fully intend to achieve. Soon, the whole of Central Plains will be ours.”
“We cannot afford to be negligent, especially now. These are the most crucial times.”
“Hmm.”
“What about Mitra Monk and Yuan Menhai?”
“They’ve already gone out ahead of us.”
“What about the Zen Master and his group?”
“They’ll be here to meet us soon.”
Now is not the time for any mistakes to occur.
Unknowingly, it was already midnight. Ye Chen looked at the map; Jiang Zhuge came over and said, “We’re all ready.”
Ye Chen nodded and asked, “This is a small town, isn’t it?”
“Yes, indeed, it’s a small town.”
“Let’s go there then. It’s not far from Immortal City. We should be able to arrive in just a day, and it’s not an easy place to be discovered,” Ye Chen said.
Jiang Zhuge nodded.
Li Mo asked, “So, do we go straight there?”
“That certainly won’t work,” Jiang Zhuge said. “The Zen Master and his people may still be watching us. If we go straight there, they will know our deployment.”
Ye Chen nodded and said, “Yes, Jiang Zhuge is correct. Going straight there is indeed out of the question.”
“What should we do then?” Li Mo asked.
Ye Chen pondered for a moment and said, “Let’s take a detour and make them think we’ve left for somewhere else, then we’ll circle back here. After all, the Mutant Winged Dragon and his group will require some time to arrive here. That gives us ample time.”
Jiang Zhuge also looked at the map and said, “Okay, I’ll lead the team. You guys don’t need to follow the team; when the time comes, I’ll bring the team back here.”
Ye Chen nodded.
Jiang Zhuge said, “Based on the current situation, their target seems to be Immortal City.”
“We can’t be so quick to jump to conclusions,” Ye Chen, who didn’t want to make random guesses, said. “It’s pointless to guess. We must ascertain the truth. You should try to gather as much information as possible.”
Jiang Zhuge said, “Sect Leader, Yu Yun and you don’t need to follow me. You can sneak over there tomorrow. I’ll lead the main force. Li Mo, you get here first and prepare some food and other necessities, and find us a place to stay.”
“Okay, rest assured. I’ll handle this. I’ll take responsibility for it.”
“Alright, you can go ahead. Be careful. If anything happens, inform me immediately.” Ye Chen said.
Jiang Zhuge nodded.
Then, Yu Yun popped out. She seemed confused and groggy, aware that there would be a big mission that night. She was worried that Ye Chen would leave her behind. This guy was totally capable of that.
Still sleepy, she asked, “Are we going now?”
“Hmm, just follow Jiang Zhuge.”
“And you?”
“I’m going back to sleep,” Ye Chen said.
Perplexed, Yu Yun asked, “Why are you going back to sleep? Didn’t you say there was a mission?”
Li Mo chuckled, “There’s a large group of people and only a few needed to lead. Not all of us need to move together, so you can continue sleeping. We’ll leave at dawn.”
“Wait, are you saying that we don’t have to go, that someone will take the team away?”
“Of course.” Li Mo added, “Don’t worry, I won’t let Ye Chen leave you behind.”
“Why didn’t you say so earlier? Why announce this now?” It was obvious Yu Yun was very sleepy. She had woken up early the previous night, worried about Ye Chen leaving early. She hadn’t gotten ample rest.
“Go back to sleep. I’ll wake you up when we’re about to leave tomorrow.”
Yu Yun shook her head, looking very unsatisfied. Meanwhile, Ye Chen had already disappeared down the corridor.
