Yu Qing had already turned away to leave. Assuming she wouldn’t be able catch up, she decided she had to go and inform her father about this situation.

Ye Chen left a few disciples from the New City Sect behind in the Immortal City so he could contact them from the base of the mountain. Thus, he bid farewell to Su Hong. Last night, he and Su Hong had had a discussion about how to deal with the Mutant Winged Dragon. Even though Su Hong wanted Ye Chen to stay behind, Ye Chen decided to descend the mountain, and Su Hong had no choice but to respect his decision.

Su Hong was in the main hall; his disciple, Yin Feng, had just filled in for him to bid Ye Chen farewell and just returned.

Su Hong asked, “Did he leave?”

“Yes,” Yin Feng nodded.

Su Hong fell silent for a moment.

Yin Feng then said, “Ye Chen’s departure might have something to do with the recent rumors going around Immortal City.”

“What kind of rumors?”

“Some say Ye Chen came back to avenge his deceased mother; others say he did it to embarrass you and become the next Sect Leader of Immortal City.”

“Nonsense, all of that is nonsense.” Su Hong held his forehead and shook his head; he knew what kind of person Ye Chen was.

“Who knows who started these rumors, they’re quite unpleasant.”

Su Hong took a long breath seeming to ponder something.

Yin Feng said, “Should I investigate where these rumors came from?”

Su Hong, eyes closed, shook his head and said, “No need,” His mind was preoccupied with the Dragon Slaying Clan invading the Central Plains and did not want to bother with this.

He had had serious talks with Ye Chen a couple of times and found him quite likeable, especially his professionalism. He understood why Ye Chen could become the Sect Leader of New City. Ye Chen was not pedantic and hence, there was no need for him to look into all this.

Yin Feng just looked at Su Hong.

Su Hong then said, “Call Ren Xiongbei, Fang Ziren, and Guo Mingyu in.”

Yin Feng nodded upon hearing this.

Unbeknownst to them, Ye Chen had already reached halfway up the mountain.

Li Mo continued, “Finally, we are out. That city was suffocating, the aura was too sinister. I hated that atmosphere.”

We’re better off out here in the open with our disciples. The Immortal City is dangerous. Who knows when the Mutant Winged Dragon’s followers will attack. It’s safer to stay at the base of the mountain.”

However, Ye Chen said, “At the base of the mountain! We can’t stay in Crane City. Once the Dragon Slaying Clan arrives, they’ll definitely capture Crane City first.”

“Where should we go then?”

“An adventure, what a joke,” Ye Chen yelled. “Go back immediately.”

Yu Yun patted the dust off her clothes, turned around and started walking back down the mountain. “No, I won’t go back,” she said.

“Are you insisting on following us against our will?”

“Who’s insisting!”

Li Mo said, “Well then, come along. Our Sect Leader lacks someone to chat with. You’re just the right person to keep him company.” He turned around and walked ahead, following Jiang Zhuge.

“Your sister, she doesn’t know you’re out here, does she?”

“I already told He Xibai to go back and tell my sister that I’m leaving with you guys.”

“Your sister will definitely think I’ve kidnapped you.”

“Possibly. I hope they all think that.”

“You really are a crazy girl, when did you find out we were going down the mountain?” She had actually managed to follow them.

“I was worried you would leave early, so I came out early in the morning and was waiting for you halfway up the mountain.”

Then came a slap.

“You should have slept beside me last night, then I wouldn’t have run off.”

Li Mo from behind said, “I have some peanuts, do you want some?”
