Chapter 300 - 300 288 The Worries of the People of New City
Chapter 300: Chapter 288: The Worries of the People of New City Sect Chapter 300: Chapter 288: The Worries of the People of New City Sect Ye Chen had been silent all along.
Jiang Zhuge said, “Given the current state of the Wastelands, it’s no secret anymore. People of the Immortal and Demon realms should know, and they will probably worry about someone ruining their Immortal-Demon Convention.”
Kong Sha interjected, “We shouldn’t concern ourselves with their matters. They will manage.”
“I can’t imagine what they’ll stir up.” Can Mo said.
“What can be confirmed, however, is that the Dragon Slaying Clan will not let the Immortal-Demon Convention proceed peacefully, let alone elect an Alliance Leader against them,” Jiang Zhuge continued.
“What do you think they would do?” Kong Sha asked.
Ye Chen contemplated and finally said, “They certainly will not start with people from Immortal City or Demon Palace; they possess significant power.”
Jiang Zhuge asked, “You mean they will pick on the smaller sects?”
“Insignificant sects probably can’t make a big impact on the Immortal-Demon Convention; they wouldn’t even bother.” Ye Chen said.
Jiang Zhuge said, “Well in that case, they will target influential sects, intimidate them, perhaps even assault them like they did with our New City Sect. This will strike fear in those sects, making them hesitant to oppose them. The people of the Dragon Slaying Clan have openly vowed that their bitter enemies are Immortal City and Demon Palace.”
Upon hearing this, Kong Sha retorted angrily, “Nonsense! Only fools would believe them. What about our New City Sect? They turned the entire Wasteland City into a sea of fire, murdering our Sect leaders. These bloodthirsty devils can only deceive those who don’t know them, how could they possibly deceive us.”
“That’s right, we know the Dragon Slaying Clan too well to be fooled. The Central Plains falling into the hands of Mutant Winged Dragon and the Dragon Slaying Clan will not end well.” Jiang Zhuge added.
Curious, Ye Chen asked, “What enmity does the Dragon Slaying Clan hold towards Immortal City and Demon Palace?”
Jiang Zhuge explained, “I’ve heard that the Dragon Slaying Clan used to hunt down demons for the Immortal-Demon realms. But something happened and the Immortal-Demon realms killed off many from the Dragon Slaying Clan, leaving only a small group to survive. The descendant of the Dragon Slaying Clan, Mutant Winged Dragon appeared many years later.”
“Mutant Winged Dragon decided to seek justice for his people. Exceptionally talented and skilled in martial arts, he returned to the Central Plains to refine his skills and study the Immortal and Demon realms while accumulating power and awaiting his opportunity to avenge the Dragon Slaying Clan. He prepared rigorously for this, but someone saw through his plans.”
“Who saw through his plans?”
“His younger martial brother, the present Su Hong.”
Ye Chen was surprised and asked, “Are Mutant Winged Dragon and Su Hong martial brothers?”
“So it’s said, but it’s definitely true. Su Hong foresaw the danger and knew that if Mutant Winged Dragon succeeded, the Immortal and Demon realms would fall into chaos. That’s when he shared this information with the Immortal and Demon realms. From then on, he joined Immortal City to buy enough time for the Immortal and Demon realms. With Su Hong’s help, they eventually defeated the Dragon Slaying Clan that Mutant Winged Dragon had brought into the Central Plains. People say that Mutant Winged Dragon died, but no one knows for sure. Su Hong, however, has not mentioned the incident ever since.”
Ye Chen was somewhat surprised, having not anticipated such a history.
Jiang Zhuge continued, “Since Su Hong helped the Immortal and Demon realms defeat the Dragon Slaying Clan and averted the crisis, he naturally superseded Qiao Fanfeng to become the new Sect Leader of the Immortal City Sect.”
“So they have a thorough understanding of each other!”
“Indeed, unfortunately, Mutant Winged Dragon didn’t die.”
Ye Chen followed up, “If they intend to create trouble, which sect do you think they’re most likely to target?”
Jiang Zhuge responded, “Very likely, the Heavenly City Sect.”
“Why?”
“Heavenly City Sect, originally one of the three sects, almost perished in the battle against the Third Demon. A major reason was their protection of the Demon Palace. In subsequent years, the Demon Palace and Immortal City continued to support Heavenly City and even gave them the Earth Pearl. Unfortunately, Heavenly City lost it.”
“But Demon Palace and Immortal City still haven’t forgotten about them. The Heavenly City Sect might not be as prominent as before but it isn’t too bad either. After all, it’s still one of the three major sects.” Jiang Zhuge continued, “By attacking Heavenly City Sect, they could deal an even larger blow to the Immortal and Demon realms.”
Ye Chen thought it made a fair point.
“Nonetheless, if they do plan on wreaking havoc, the primary target would likely be the Heavenly City Sect. With an easier target, they can’t possibly pick Demon Palace unless Mutant Winged Dragon returns. But he obviously won’t at this moment, as he is still stabilizing the Wastelands.”
Ye Chen responded, “Hmm, find out as soon as possible where the people of the Heavenly City Sect are.”
Jiang Zhuge nodded.
Ye Chen asked again, “Are there any other possibilities?”
Jiang Zhuge replied with a slight smile, “I was just making a wild guess.”
“That’s not a wild guess, your analysis made sense.”
Jiang Zhuge gave a faint smile.
“Alright, let’s eat and we can continue our discussion.” The dishes were served.
Ye Chen added, “It seems like we can’t move together.”
Kong Sha asked, “Why?”
“Having too many people might draw attention.”
“Really? The people of the Immortal and Demon realms are in a befuddled state, unable to cope with their own matters.”
Ye Chen said, “We’re not worried that they will find out our New City Sect has entered the Central Plains. Rather, we’re afraid they might mistake us for the Dragon Slaying Clan.”
Jiang Zhuge nodded in agreement, “Yes, they don’t know yet that we’ve entered the Central Plains.”
Ye Chen asked, “Jiang, have you sent any message to our New City Sect, letting them know that we plan to enter the Central Plains and join forces with them?”
“Hmm, I’ve already sent a carrier pigeon message to them, but I haven’t received a return message.”
Ye Chen felt he still needed to inform them.
“But I believe they’ll understand.” Jiang Zhuge said.
Ye Chen replied, “After all, we entered the Central Plains without their knowledge, I fear that it might cause some misunderstanding.”
Jiang Zhuge nodded after hearing this.
Ye Chen asked, “Can Mo, do we have any news from those who escaped from Wastelands?”
Can Mo shook his head, he knew Ye Chen hadn’t come to terms with it, he couldn’t forget Ling’er.
Seeing him shake his head, Ye Chen didn’t want to press the question and said, “Let’s eat.”
Everyone started to gather around.
“Hurry up, everyone. You’ve all been working hard recently.”
Jiang Zhuge asked, “Sect Leader, how do you intend to split us?”
“Into two teams.”
“Two teams?”
“Yes, half and half, one watching the Wastelands exit, another watching the Heavenly City Sect.” Ye Chen continued, “When the time comes, Can Mo and Kong Sha will lead one team, watching the Wastelands gate, and you and I watch the Heavenly City Sect.” He speculated that if the Dragon Slaying Clan caused trouble, they would most likely target the Heavenly City Sect.
Jiang Zhuge nodded after hearing this and said, “That seems like a good plan, so we won’t get caught out on both sides.”
“But those watching over the Wasteland’s gate need to be more careful. I know we all want to get revenge for those who died in the New City Sect, but we have to understand, this isn’t about individuals anymore. If we want our vengeance, we must first ensure our own survival. Only if we live on, can we avenge those who died. We also need a plan, and everything must go according to it. Right now, only we few are left of the New City Sect, and honestly, I don’t want to risk any of your lives.” After Wei Sisan’s death, Ye Chen felt his responsibilities were suddenly much heavier.
Can Mo and Kong Sha both nodded.
“When the time comes, I will assign four hundred men to you. I presume that if people from the Dragon Slaying Clan want to come in, they surely will do so secretly.”
“What if they disguise themselves as a merchant caravan, how will we discover them?” Kong Sha asked.
“We’ll find a way, hopefully we’ll be able to detect them.” Ye Chen replied.
Su Hong of the Immortal City Sect quickly received Jiang Zhuge’s letter. The letter stated the intentions of the new Sect Leader.
Su Hong was willing to accept them coming into the Central Plains and immediately informed Ren Xiongbei of their intentions. Ren Xiongbei said, “We should agree to let them in. They have a vendetta to settle and can assist us.”
“Yes, that’s what I thought too. We’ll confirm now and issue a unified command,” Su Hong said.
Ren Xiongbei nodded. Actually, Ye Chen and the others hadn’t told Su Hong that they had already quietly entered.
Su Hong quickly decided to send a return message via carrier pigeon.
“Their new Sect Leader seems to have a clear plan.”
“Right, their Sect Leader is called Ye Chen, a young man?”
Su Hong seemed to remember this name and asked, “Ye Chen? Is he very young?”
However, Ren Xiongbei suggested, “It could just be someone with the same name.”
Upon hearing this, Su Hong cooled down and said, “Yes, what are the chances for such a coincidence.” He was immediately disappointed. After Ye Xue passed away, he had been searching for Ye Chen for many years.
Ren Xiongbei said, “Ah, Sect Leader, you might as well not ponder on it.”
“Junior brother Ren, recently, I need you to shoulder more responsibilities for the affairs within the Immortal City.”
“What are you talking about? Helping the Sect Leader with his burdens is my duty.”
Su Hong said, “We must not let anything go wrong.”
“Senior brother Qiao should already be on his way, and he will inform us promptly if anything happens there.”
“We should still advise the people of the Immortal Demon Realm to be cautious and take good care of themselves.”
“Understood.” Ren Xiongbei quickly withdrew.
Events were unfolding more rapidly than Su Hong had anticipated. He had always assumed he had ample time. But the events in Wastelands had suddenly made him grip his seat tight.
The Immortal Demon Realm conference was becoming increasingly crucial.
The Zen Master was preparing to leave Wastelands.
Meng Xiuluo said, “We need to stir up some trouble with Slaughter Saint and Jing Po.”
“Stir up trouble? Aren’t you afraid of drawing attention to yourself?”
“Of course we have to cause a bit of a commotion, alarm them a bit. Aren’t they about to go to Immortal City? Their main concern right now isn’t us, but to assure that the Immortal Demon Realm conference in Immortal City proceeds smoothly. We can use this time to create a little chaos,” Meng Xiuluo explained.
“That makes sense.”
