Chapter 268 - 268 256 Combine Into One

Chapter 268: Chapter 256: Combine Into One Chapter 268: Chapter 256: Combine Into One Ye Chen knew that the Red Demonic Spirit was angry, quickly saying: “Yes, you’re right, I don’t know the depth of the sky or the vastness of the earth.”

“Of course you don’t,” the Red Demonic Spirit said.

“It seems I need to take some time to study this more when I have the chance.”

In the dark night, there were two people.

Meng Xiuluo saw Xiang Yi and asked, “Why have you come here? Didn’t I tell you it’s very dangerous here?”

Xiang Yi replied, “I wanted to inform you of the situation.”

“What situation?”

“Originally, the Zen Master had control over that guy, but then he took out the Jade Ring, used the energy within the Jade Ring to break the encirclement, and even repelled the Zen Master. The Zen Master almost got injured.”

“Was the injury serious?”

“No, it just caught the Zen Master off guard. He didn’t expect such a force.”

“The Jade Ring you mentioned, it’s the one he’s wearing, right?”

“Yes.”

“Damn, using our Dragon Clan’s relic against us,” muttered Meng Xiuluo.

“Afterwards, Shen Tian appeared and took the Zen Master away, eliminating the danger,” Xiang Yi said.

Meng Xiuluo nodded.

“He now possesses the Jade Ring, I suspect the Zen Master can’t do anything about it.” Xiang Yi asked, “Xiuluo, can you steal the Jade Ring?”

“Impossible, I can’t steal the Jade Ring overnight. Unless I’m invited into his bed. The Zen Master isn’t a match for him, much less me with my martial arts. We need to plan this for the long-term.”

“What should we do then?”

“Now both girls are suspicious of me. I think they’re just lacking evidence against me but they won’t give up their suspicion. They’ll keep a tight watch over me. It won’t be easy getting that Jade Ring. That kid isn’t stupid.”

“True. Is it too risky for you to stay on the inside?”

“I think they won’t immediately reveal their suspicions. They’ll probably wait.” He thought to himself that tomorrow is a crucial day, whether they could break through the city would be determined then.

“You staying there probably won’t be of much help.”

Meng Xiuluo nodded, asking; “What are the Zen Master’s plans?”

“Killed throughout the entire day today, just like you’re aware of.”

“The northwest corner?”

Xiang Yi explained, “Right, when you left, we all noticed it. Under heavy pressure, the northwest corner’s defenses are thinner, making it a perfect breaking point.”

“There won’t be any issues, right?”

“There shouldn’t be, it is indeed a breaking point. I’ve checked, it won’t be noticeable on ordinary days, but the New City Sect’s forces are limited. If we send everyone over, there would be a brief opening for us to infiltrate,” Xiang Yi stated.

“Did the Zen Master say the same thing?”

“Yes, according to the Zen Master, we’ll be able to breach the city gates tomorrow. There’s no use for you to stay with them.”

Meng Xiuluo remained cautious, knowing he wouldn’t be much help inside the city.

Xiang Yi said, “Rather than staying among them, it’s safer to not stay. If they suspect you, even if they didn’t catch you red-handed, they’ll still try to uncover your identity.”

“They might indeed do that. But they need time. They didn’t expose me tonight since they don’t have any evidence. So, I’m safe for now.” Meng Xiuluo decided that he must find a way to get his hands on the Jade Ring.

“How confident are you?”

“Well, don’t worry. Maybe at the critical moment, I’ll be able to help. You should head back and help them get ready to confront New City Sect, assist them in breaking through the city as soon as possible.”

“Okay, I understand.”

“Let everyone be cautious,” Meng Xiuluo said.

“Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of myself.”

“Okay, go back, and don’t try to find me easily.”

“I understand.”

“If there’s anything, I’ll come directly to you.” Meng Xiuluo turned around and left, glancing around to ensure no one saw them before feeling a little bit relieved.

The courtyard was silent. Ling’er and Wan Lan were still in the room, not daring to come out.

Wan Lan asked: “Do you think this girl, could she possibly have anything to do with the Zen Master’s people outside?”

“Do you think she’s associated with those people?”

“Absolutely. I think we should just arrest her now.”

“You’re being silly, arresting her will definitely be useless, she’ll only play the victim. When that happens, that guy will definitely take her side, accusing me of being resentful because of love. I can’t be bothered to go through all the trouble.”

“But this is too creepy.”

“Keep an eye on her; just stop her from causing trouble. That girl isn’t simple, and when the black panther appeared, we couldn’t allow her to show her martial arts. You want her to reveal herself easily, how could that be possible?”

“Alright, I’ll do as you say,” said Wan Lan.

Ling’er was silent for a while, then said, “We have plenty of time. After we defeat the Zen Master tomorrow, we can accompany her and take our time. You just need to watch her and ensure she doesn’t stir up any trouble tomorrow.”

Ye Chen had already come in from the outside. When he entered, there was no one in the yard. He was surprised, “Hey, where are the people? How can they all be gone?”

Suddenly, he noticed movement inside the window and shouted, “Are you two shy? Afraid to come out?”

He heard the sound of footsteps behind him.

It was Meng Yan who had returned. Seeing Meng Yan’s return, Wan Lan and Ling’er also walked outside.

The courtyard suddenly became lively.

After one hour, nothing was said. Ye Chen seemed to be feeling something, sensing that they had become estranged somehow.

Ye Chen said, “Forget it, I’m going back to sleep.” He wanted to study the Jade Ring more.

They dispersed quickly, and upon returning to his room, Ye Chen took out the Jade Ring. He looked at it from all angles, exerted a wave of energy to coax the images out, and suddenly, the ring emitted a green light. Inside the green light were images, which Ye Chen had seen before, but it seemed there was nothing special about them.

“You can’t see anything,” the Red Demonic Spirit said.

Ye Chen snorted, “Then you should lend me a hand.”

With a cold chuckle, the Red Demonic Spirit also couldn’t discern anything.

Finally, Ye Chen said, “Forget it, you probably can’t see anything either.” He then moved back to his bed.

“Don’t you feel the three women are at odds with each other?” asked the Red Demonic Spirit.

“If you paid as much attention to this Jade Ring as you did to those girls, I think more secrets would be revealed.”

“Don’t you want to resolve this issue? It’s so awkward.”

“I’d like to, but it’s not as though I have four arms and two bodies! I’ve got loads to deal with tomorrow, who knows what devious tricks the Zen Master is planning – I’m utterly clueless. How could I have the energy to manage their petty affairs?”

“That’s probably the most truthful thing you’ve said, but don’t you feel the atmosphere is weird in the yard?”

“Fine, I’ll deal with it after tomorrow. After defeating the Zen Master, I’ll just send Meng Yan away.”

“I told you that girl liked you, but you didn’t believe me. Do you believe me now?”

“Hey, can you stop blabbering and help me with this Jade Ring?” The Zen Master and his martial arts, made Ye Chen feel there was something left incomplete.

The Red Demonic Spirit sprang out, getting impatient, and casually remarked, “Drip a couple of drops of blood onto it, it might reveal something.”

“What, drip blood? Is that really a method?”

“I don’t know, but many people use this method to practice demonic arts, using blood to merge together.”

“Practicing demonic arts, really? Can you stop scaring me?”

“Scare you? Many people use this method to become possessed.”

“I never planned on being possessed.” Suddenly, Ye Chen pulled a knife from the bedside drawer, he wanted to give it a try, to see if he could discover some secrets.

“You’re really going to drip blood?”

“Isn’t that what you suggested?”

“I said it in passing, didn’t you catch that?”

Ignoring him, Ye Chen really cut his finger and dripped a drop of blood onto it.

Immediately, there was a “whoosh…” sound. The entire Jade Ring turned red, emitting a red light that instantly bonded with Ye Chen, forming a union, and within the red light were images, not anymore ones about martial arts practice, but scenes of actual combat.

Ye Chen was startled, completely unaware of what had just happened, his entire mind filled with scenes of combat, one more fascinating than the last.

The Red Demonic Spirit seemed dumbfounded too. He leaned over and muttered in astonishment, “No way, you really can unlock it with blood?”

Everything was about combat scenes. Suddenly, a beam of light emerged from the Jade Ring, shooting directly between Ye Chen’s eyebrows. Ye Chen closed his eyes, and instantly, an overwhelming number of images reverberated in his mind.

All the images rushed into Ye Chen’s brain like a flood, getting faster and faster. They were all combat scenes. Suddenly, they halted. It felt like he had entered a space, following which, a sword was rushing towards him with intense realism. It was as if he was suffering from a nightmare.

He hastily pulled out the weapon in his hand. Then, a grand battle began that was so chaotic that he couldn’t distinguish east from west.

Blades flashed, and swords swooshed, suffocating him. Every move was brutal, each attack deadly. On the verge of dying, he hurriedly opened his eyes, as if he had just awoken from a dream, already drenched in sweat.

Ye Chen was panting heavily, scaring the Red Demonic Spirit who asked, “What did you see?”

Unknowingly, two hours had passed. Ye Chen replied, “I dreamt that I entered a dark space where I encountered some top-tier martial artists. Their martial arts were incredibly formidable, and their moves were extremely brutal. It was as real as life, coming at me directly. I just couldn’t resist.”

The Red Demonic Spirit was silent for a moment before saying, “I understand.”

“What do you understand?” A puzzled Ye Chen inquired.

“You have only completed the theoretical practice of the first layer.”

“What do you mean?”

“You need to practice. What you dreamt was real practice. What you learned was just theory, but you haven’t had real combat experience, so you don’t have significant experience. What you need is combat experience, and you need high-intensity practice to completely master the martial arts you learned in theory and to significantly improve your combat capability.”
