Chapter 1337 - 1337 1323 Guo Yuyun is Captured
Chapter 1337: Chapter 1323: Guo Yuyun is Captured Chapter 1337: Chapter 1323: Guo Yuyun is Captured Meng Xiuluo felt surprised, why would these guys show up here at the third watch of the night, and they were here to capture them. This was clearly a premeditated action, and what’s more, a large group had come, which seemed unreasonable. Could it be that they had captured other disciples of the Dragon Slaying Clan? It was highly likely. They were stranded here, so why couldn’t other disciples also be stranded here!
She also knew about Longhun’s actions against Zang Di, because Longhun didn’t want to raise a rival in the hundred and eight islands, so he tried his best not to let Zang Di control the island, and found ways to help Scorpion Witch, Zang Di’s adversary, using the latter to deal with Zang Di. Probably because of this, Zang Di particularly disliked the people of Dragon Slayer Island.
Indeed, they were a bunch of savages, leaping up with the intention to grab the women.
They probably thought there was no threat.
But they soon tasted bitterness, as Meng Xiuluo’s flying needles took out several in an instant, and Guo Yuyun released two Crystal Beasts.
The first few who charged were knocked down.
The sight scared a few of the men, and one bald man exclaimed, “This little lady is pretty fierce, but the fierier they are, the more I like them.”
They numbered around seventy to eighty, each with the build of a tiger and the waist of a bear. Without such builds on this kind of island, one could only become prey, as fierce as gorillas, charging again without regard for the danger ahead, even engaging in direct combat with the Crystal Beasts.
Ye Chen pushed Guo Yuyun and said, “These want to capture you and take you back, and in one night, you could become Princess Taiping.”
“You deadbeat, think of a way to break out quickly.” She also drew her knife.
Joking aside, they still needed to find a way to escape. Ye Chen glanced around and identified the direction with fewer people. These guys probably thought he was just another minor thug, so their vigilance wasn’t so high.
Ye Chen looked ahead and saw a row of trees. He leaped and shouted, and those men also jumped up with their scythe-like swords flying, and they actually returned in a curve.
Meng Xiuluo and Guo Yuyun held the front, while Ye Chen was suspended mid-air. He executed the Gathering of Ten Thousand Spirits, concentrating energy into his hands. For masters, this wasn’t anything special, but it was enough to deal with the underlings. Lightning struck, and like a gibbon, he caught those flying scythe-like swords, followed by a Dodging Technique with added energy, reflected back to hit them.
He struck back with the force of a thousand horses, and those guys were certainly unprepared. How could they possibly expect this young man to have such high martial arts skills? They had captured a large group in the first half of the night without much resistance, but it turned out they had encountered a tough one this time.
More than a dozen trees fell like tidal waves, and the men scattered around like Haozi.
Ye Chen also hadn’t felt this exhilarated in a long time,
Taken by surprise, an escape route opened up. Wu Xinyou was caught off guard as well. It was just three people, two young women, and a scruffy kid. How powerful could they be? If he hadn’t been informed that there were two beauties, he wouldn’t have bothered to come.
Seeing the gap behind them open, Ye Chen urged, “Go, let’s get out from the back. You two go first, I’ll cover the rear.”
He confronted Wu Xinyou.
Wu Xinyou was shocked, not expecting the kid to have some tricks up his sleeve. But to think of escaping his clutches without leaving something behind was wishful thinking.
He drew his long sword, which descended like a towering pillar, while Ye Chen struck out with both palms, causing a thunderous explosion that cracked the ground.
Ye Chen was startled, having thought big guys were simple-minded and relied on brute strength. He was wrong; if this big guy were simple-minded, how could he have achieved such high martial arts skills?
Even though the giant sword was powerful, Ye Chen managed to block it with difficulty. He quickly repelled it with a palm strike. But there was no time to waste with them, as more were rushing up from behind. The sword-wielder was formidable, and without a weapon, Ye Chen wasn’t assured he could defeat him, not to mention a whole crowd was still behind.
It was their territory; he had to leave quickly to be safe.
In haste, he released a strong energy burst everywhere and then fled deep into the dense forest, quickly catching up with Guo Yuyun and the others.
The big guy Wu Xinyou said, “Think you can run? Dream on.” To think that kid actually had some skills, and those two girls were really not bad looking.
“It seems your Dragon Slaying Clan can’t suppress them,” Ye Chen said as he ran.
Guo Yuyun said, “He shouldn’t have mentioned the Dragon Slaying Clan; that agitated those guys even more.”
Meng Xiuluo remained silent, her mind preoccupied with the thought of why Zang Di’s people would show up here, and it was obvious they were here to capture them. They must have captured someone from the Dragon Slaying Clan; they couldn’t possibly have come just for the three of them.
Seeing that Meng Xiuluo had been injured and was moving slowly already, with their pursuers capable of catching up soon, Ye Chen quickly told them, “You two keep moving forward, I’ll hold them off. I’ll catch up quickly.”
Guo Yuyun looked at Ye Chen and said, “That big guy seems very formidable. Don’t lose your mind trying to outdo him.”
“Don’t worry, I’m being careful,” Ye Chen looked around and said, “Just keep moving forward and don’t look back. I’ll follow.”
By then, he had already forgotten that the girl wasn’t a good person.
Guo Yuyun knew that Ye Chen wanted to stay behind to buy time because the girl was slow.
Wu Xinyou was furious, “Tell the men up front to encircle them; we must not let them escape.”
His aide quickly went to send a signal.
“On my turf, thinking of running away?”
Those detestable creatures flicking their tongues had to be dealt with, or they wouldn’t be able to shake them off. They were following closely behind, and catching up rapidly. Meng Xiuluo smelled already.
Killing those annoying ones first, he would deal with the rest later.
Running out of options, Ye Chen unleashed his energy and went on a random killing spree. Soon the big guy caught up. The big guy wouldn’t let him go on a rampage, and that sword of his was indeed terrifying. Ye Chen also couldn’t just use the Wolf King’s Ring at will.
Continuing like this is certainly not a good way to go.
If things go wrong, they’ll soon have me surrounded, with more and more people coming up.
Ye Chen hurriedly released a few bursts of energy, posing as if ready for a life-and-death fight with the burly man; taking advantage of his retreat, Ye Chen knocked down several trees and, before they could emerge from the fallen timber, he quickly slipped forward. It had been quite a while, so he believed those two girls must have run far by now.
If this continues, he wouldn’t last many more rounds.
After running several zhang, he didn’t expect to find bodies ahead, clearly left from a recent fight. Ahead was growing quieter, when suddenly he heard a voice, “I’m here.”
Ye Chen hurried over, only to find Meng Xiuluo and not Guo Yuyun. He asked, “Where’s the girl?”
“You didn’t run into her?” As it happened, they had encountered over a dozen hefty men earlier. Seeing Meng Xiuluo injured, Guo Yuyun had told her to go ahead first while she dealt with them and then follow.
“No, you said she was behind us.”
“Yes, when those dozen or so people showed up and I was like this, she told me to go ahead. I thought you’d run into her.”
Hearing this, Ye Chen grew anxious and wanted to run back, guessing the girl must have gotten lost. But the hunting dogs’ barking was getting closer, and the number of people seemed to be increasing; he still had no idea where Guo Yuyun might have lost her way.
Meng Xiuluo called out, “Don’t go back, they’ll just capture you too.”
“But I can’t just look out for myself,” Ye Chen insisted, jumping up and bouncing around.
Meng Xiuluo shouted, “Hey, can you beat that big guy?”
Ye Chen didn’t answer.
“And there’s a big group of them. Their martial arts aren’t weak; you’re no match for them. If you trust me, let’s get away quickly. Once we’re safe, we can think of a way to rescue her,” Meng Xiuluo said.
Ye Chen was doubtful.
“I know some people on Slaughter Island; maybe they can help later. You can’t possibly save her on your own. If you get caught too, then no one will be able to save her.”
The barking of the hunting dogs was getting closer, and the light of the torches was flickering behind them.
For some reason, Ye Chen actually believed her.
The two continued to move forward, not knowing how long they’d been running.
The sound of the hunting dogs was still present, but suddenly Ye Chen stopped in his tracks. Meng Xiuluo, puzzled, asked, “What’s wrong?”
“There seems to be someone ahead.” Although far away, Ye Chen could hear voices.
Meng Xiuluo saw the firelight and murmured, “We’re still surrounded.”
“Damn it, let’s fight them,” Ye Chen said.
But Meng Xiuluo pulled him back, pointing to a nearby pool.
Ye Chen asked, “What do you mean?”
“We dive in.” She took two reeds from the reed bed by the pond, handed one to him, and said, “Use this to breathe.”
They quickly submerged themselves in the middle of the pool.
Soon, over a hundred people gathered by the water’s edge.
They had captured Guo Yuyun.
However, Wu Xinyou didn’t seem satisfied, shouting, “Damn kid, where did he run off to?” Though they had hounds, at this point, the dogs were just spinning around, seemingly having lost the scent.
“We’ve only caught a jumping she-monkey,” one of the men said.
Underwater, Ye Chen could barely hear; he really wanted to come out, but Meng Xiuluo was right. He wouldn’t stand a chance on his own; let alone rescue the girl, it was very likely he would also put her at risk of capture.
He rather believed that the girl could indeed have a plan, and so he refrained.
“I don’t believe that guy really grew wings and flew away,” Wu Xinyou shouted.
“It seems the other girl is also injured,” said one of the men.
Another helper remarked, “Then they certainly can’t have gotten far.”
Wu Xinyou, unwilling to give up, ordered, “Search for me.”
Using the pool to mask their scent, they eluded the hounds, which couldn’t go into the water, and avoided capture.
Soon, the group searched the surrounding area for a while and left, disappointed.
