Chapter 1304 - 1304 1290 Bewitching Soup
Chapter 1304: Chapter 1290: Bewitching Soup Chapter 1304: Chapter 1290: Bewitching Soup Ouyang Yue saw that Ye Chen was so lacking in confidence and said, “Are you that certain we won’t find Longhun?”
“I hardly doubt it,” Ye Chen said.
“Then what do you want us to do? Just sit around doing nothing and wait for Longhun to figure out the Sacred Spirit Stone?”
Ye Chen certainly didn’t want that, but still said, “Let’s get ready to join forces with the Immortal Demon World.”
“Joining forces with Su Zhanze and his lot, they’re so high and mighty, they won’t give us the time of day,” Ouyang Yue said.
“Right, what about the Evil Spirit from last time?”
Ouyang Yue replied, “It escaped a long time ago. You want to use the Evil Spirit like how we dealt with the Immortal City Sect, to tackle the Dragon Slaying Clan? You reckon they won’t be as foolish as Zhan Ze?”
Soon Ah Ya arrived with two girls to bring in the food, interrupting their conversation.
Ouyang Yue said, “We’re leaving tomorrow morning, so tonight, after dinner, let’s go for a walk on the streets.”
Ye Chen lifted his head and said, “I still prefer to wander the streets alone. I don’t want others to disturb me.”
“Of course, you would wish for that, with no one to bother you, you can do whatever bad things you want,” Ouyang Yue stood up, helping to arrange the delicious food.
Guo Yuyun also quickly stood up to help. She had become quieter and quieter these days, hardly saying anything except when alone with Ye Chen, when she could manage a few words.
Ye Chen asked, “Junior Brother Song, have you contacted your father and the rest?”
“Yes, they already know about Taiping Island and Paper Kite Island, and they agree that we should not delay, that we need to find Longhun as soon as possible. He has started reaching out to people in Demon Palace City, and there will be action soon.”
Ouyang Yue said, “Didn’t you say you don’t believe we can find Longhun? Why even ask?”
“I truly don’t believe we can, but there’s nothing to do but to treat a dead horse as if it’s alive,” Ye Chen shook his head and said, “But let’s not talk about that now. I need to fill my stomach first.”
Ouyang Yue called out, “Yun’er, hurry up and eat.”
Yun’er nodded.
Since the incident when Yun’er had drunk the alcohol, Ye Chen no longer dared to say harsh words that would upset Yun’er, as if he too grew tired, feeling that it served no purpose.
Yun’er began to have an illusion, not sure if she was seeing things wrong, but it felt like the relationship between Ouyang Yue and Ye Chen wasn’t as good as it seemed. She couldn’t understand why she felt that way but she could sense that if they really were a couple, why wouldn’t Ouyang Yue get angry when Ye Chen mentioned going to chat with Little Qian, as if she didn’t care at all.
If they were really lovers, it shouldn’t be like that. There should be some jealousy, but she couldn’t sense it at all.
“Here, this is delicious. Yun’er, if there’s anything else you like to eat, just tell Ah Ya.”
“Aren’t we leaving tomorrow morning?”
“Yes, but if you still decide to stay here in the future, to live around here, then don’t be shy.”
Ye Chen looked over and said, “Are you really planning to live here for the rest of your life?”
Ouyang Yue defiantly said, “Don’t worry about that mess. Stay as long as you like.”
Guo Yuyun kept her head down and continued eating.
They finished dinner quickly.
Guo Yuyun said, “I need to go back and change my clothes before coming out.”
“Of course, you should dress up beautifully,” Ouyang Yue said.
Guo Yuyun soon left with Song Xizhi.
Only Ye Chen and Ouyang Yue were left in the courtyard.
Ah Ya began to clean up the dishes and utensils.
Ye Chen said, “Hey, girl, why do I feel like you’re always opposing me, not following my plans?”
Ouyang Yue didn’t understand what he meant, took a sip of tea, and asked, “I’m opposing you and not following your plans?”
“Yeah, my plan was to have Yun’er leave immediately, to hurry off, but you’re trying to get her to stay, how is that my plan?”
Ouyang Yue continued to drink her tea.
“You’re not trying to use this to tie me down, are you? With her staying, you figure I’ll have to be with you forever,” he said.
“Are we together now?” she replied.
“Not together, but you should be on the same side as me, figuring out how to make her leave. Instead, you went out of your way to make her stay. What are you up to?” he pressed.
Ouyang Yue explained, saying, “Isn’t it because of Song Xizhi? Didn’t you also say that we should ally with the people from the Immortal Demon World? Having Song Xizhi to reach out for us is good, isn’t it?”
Ye Chen shook his head and said, “I don’t think it’s that simple.”
“You don’t think I’ve really fallen for you, do you? Otherwise, I’d go and make it clear to Guo Yuyun right now that there’s actually nothing between us,” she responded.
“You’re truly mad,” Ye Chen stood up, knowing full well she would not tell the other party, yet she deliberately said so.
“Getting changed, huh? You better dress sharply, don’t lose out to Song Xizhi,” she said.
Ye Chen shook his head and continued to his room.
His mind was filled with thoughts on how to find Longhun, what he would do if he were Longhun, whether Longhun would go to the Central Plains, or if the most dangerous place was actually the safest. He had no confidence at all.
It was necessary for Immortal City and Demon Palace City to prepare for the worst. But then Ye Chen thought about it: even Longhun would need at least a month to make some progress with his research.
Even if Longhun was indeed smarter than Ye Chen, he had done his own research and knew clearly that it truly required ample time, without which it was impossible to comprehend the Sacred Spirit Stones. Longhun, on his own, could simply find a place to hide—that’s true. Yes, he did have many people around him, which might draw attention, but he could choose not to follow them.
Ouyang Yue really didn’t think this through as easily as she imagined, what should he do? Ye Chen had no clue.
“Hey, hurry up and change into your clothes and come out. We’re not spending time waiting for you,”
Ouyang Yue was already complaining outside.
Ye Chen remained indifferent. When he came out, he actually hadn’t changed his clothes, which surprised Ouyang Yue. She asked, “What were you doing in the room for so long?”
“I was allowing my mind to find some peace, not wanting to listen to your endless nagging,” he replied.
Ouyang Yue glared at Ye Chen, “You’re doing this on purpose, not changing into something more attractive.”
“I look quite handsome in these clothes,” he retorted.
Ouyang Yue shook her head, “I think you just can’t stand seeing Yu Yun and Song Xizhi being lovey-dovey.”
“You really are a nosy girl,” Ye Chen said as he headed straight outside.
It appeared there was a figure just outside the door. When Ye Chen approached, he was startled—it was none other than Guo Yuyun. Thankfully, he hadn’t spoken too much earlier, or she would have overheard everything.
Ye Chen was a bit embarrassed and nodded in greeting before moving past her.
Ouyang Yue hurried out, only to find Guo Yuyun standing outside.
Song Xizhi had just come over.
Ye Chen, finally seizing an opportunity for freedom, quickened his pace and headed directly into the city.
Guo Yuyun asked, “Where are we going?”
Ouyang Yue shook her head, seemingly clueless as well, “To accompany Ye Chen to find his Little Qian.”
Hearing this, Guo Yuyun’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“Hey, since he’s so eager, let him be. Who knows how many days he has left to live,” Ouyang Yue said.
Guo Yuyun was even more astounded, thinking that the other was joking.
Night fell quickly, especially after the sunset glow faded in this season, and everything soon became dark.
“You’ve been very busy these past few days, and I haven’t taken you out for a stroll. Let’s enjoy a nice walk tonight,” Ouyang Yue said.
Seeing Ouyang Yue coming out, Guo Yuyun felt very happy.
“So much has happened recently. Thank you for being by my side like a sister during this time.”
“Really?”
“Yes, especially with my father’s situation.”
“Ah, let’s not talk about those sad matters,” Guo Yuyun worried that it might upset her again.
“It’s okay, I’ve come to accept the truth,” she reassured.
Song Xizhi followed behind them.
Ye Chen walked the fastest, as if he had been set free.
In reality, his mind was constantly turning, whether he found Longhun or not, he should deal with Longhun’s underlings. Maybe from them, he could learn Longhun’s whereabouts, but Longhun was so clever, how could he let those minions know where he was? Those leaders were not like ordinary people who would easily betray Longhun.
“Why aren’t you moving forward?” Ouyang Yue saw that Ye Chen had changed direction, while the Yixiang Brothel was right ahead; just a little further and they would be there.
“Looking for Little Qian should be something I do on my own. What use is it to take you with me?” Ye Chen said.
Ouyang Yue let out a cold laugh, “If you don’t redeem her, she’ll belong to someone else. I heard a big boss has taken a fancy to her.”
Ye Chen didn’t believe her. How could this girl have so much time to waste on this matter? She had to focus on her revenge. To deceive him wasn’t that easy. In fact, he didn’t much feel like finding Little Qian; he had merely mentioned it in passing.
Suddenly, two figures appeared in front of them, catching his gaze. It was, unexpectedly, the Black Demonic Spirit and Ah Ya.
Ah Ya was picking out items, with the Black Demonic Spirit diligently following her like a shy little brother—an unusual sight. Ye Chen stopped and said, “If I weren’t seeing this with my own eyes, I would never believe it to be true.”
Ouyang Yue also noticed them, “Have those two become a couple?”
Ye Chen snorted, “Even your own maid, you don’t know about.”
Ouyang Yue had no time to deal with these matters. Things had been so overwhelming lately, she could hardly breathe, “It seems you’ve known about this for a while.”
“You wouldn’t stop them, would you?”
“Why would Ah Ya fall for a guy who shirks responsibility?”
“Don’t say that. Look how well-behaved the Black Demonic Spirit is now.”
“That’s just an act. He must have given that girl some Bewitching Soup.”
“Plenty of Bewitching Soup, for sure, but Ah Ya is still someone with character. The Black Demonic Spirit must have used something to captivate her.”
