Chapter 1224 - 1224 1210 Drunk

Chapter 1224: Chapter 1210: Drunk Chapter 1224: Chapter 1210: Drunk Ouyang Yue muttered with anger rising to her head, “How could Shao Hengjiang possibly be my dad.”

It was Ye Chen’s turn to comfort the other, and the situation swiftly turned around as he said, “Things are a bit complicated, but it shouldn’t be too difficult to figure out.”

“How could those old fellows do such a thing.”

Having heard that, Ye Chen replied, “When they did this, they were still very young.”

“I was wondering why Shao Hengjiang has been paying me so much attention recently.”

“Did you think he had taken a liking to you?”

Ouyang Yue kicked out, her eyes as if they could kill.

“Hey, you came to tell me to stop drinking, so why did you start drinking yourself?” He tried to grab the cup.

“Are you going to drink it or not?” For over a decade, she searched, hated, all to find that irresponsible man.

“Drink, of course I’ll drink with you, as long as it makes you happy.” He had also forgotten about his own troubles, which were caused by himself.

“They’re all irresponsible.” She remembered her childhood, how her mother had her and was always gloomy. She knew that the master had feelings for her mother—everyone knew that, but for some reason, her mother never got together with the master. Instead, the master ended up at odds with Shao Hengjiang, like enemies.

At the time, Shao Hengjiang was still thinking of making amends with the Sacred Spirit Sect, but the master firmly disagreed and kept opposing them.

Especially after her mother died, the master and Shao Hengjiang became bitter enemies. She used to not understand why, but now she seemed to have figured it out.

It must be because the master knew Shao Hengjiang had harmed her mother, so he antagonized him at every turn, refusing to let him have a single day of peace. That was it.

“I get it now, I was wondering why the master hated Shao Hengjiang so much, why he could forgive anyone and give them a chance to reform, just not Shao Hengjiang.”

“What do you mean, your master also hates Shao Hengjiang?”

“My master, who is also my godfather, loved my mother. He remained unmarried his whole life for my mother and took me in as his goddaughter.”

Ye Chen said, “There’s also that meaning.”

“We used to think the master was being too stubborn.”

“It seems your master wanted to avenge your mother, he was very kind to her.”

“Shao Hengjiang is a bastard, how could he do such a thing.” She had overheard conversations between her mother and her master; her mother said she didn’t deserve him, so no matter how well the master treated her, she never married him in the end.

“Yeah, he really is a bastard. Otherwise, how could he have two daughters and wronged two women, yet act as if he doesn’t know anything?”

“Exactly, he’s that kind of person—I should’ve castrated him long ago.” Remembering many past events, Ouyang Yue called out, “Why aren’t you drinking? Hurry up and drink with me.”

Ye Chen felt a little awkward—it was she who was telling him not to drink before, but now he was telling her the same, and the shift was so rapid it was almost unbelievable.

“However, having a dad is better than not having one at all, just like me, I really wish I had a dad, I just haven’t had the chance.” Now that it was out there, he couldn’t speak ill of Shao Hengjiang. After all, the father and daughter were going to reconcile someday. If Shao Hengjiang found out about this conversation, heaven knows he would not let it go lightly.

“Then when does he plan to tell me, or does he not intend to tell me at all?”

Ye Chen hurriedly said, “I think he does want to tell you. It’s just that there are so many things happening right now, so wait a bit longer. But I believe, once we retrieve the Sacred Spirit Stone, he will explain everything to you.”

“Bringing me delicious food and being especially caring to me, I really thought he had taken a fancy to me. It gave me the creeps for a while. Not knowing what to do, I had Wan Liyun take care of it, in charge of the surroundings. Even if Nangong Yan is my good friend, he didn’t need to be so good to me.” Ouyang Yue said.

Hearing this, Ye Chen felt amused and didn’t know what to say.

“Really, I even thought about clarifying it with him sometime, telling him I’m not interested in him. I was also worried about owing him something. I was closer to Nangong Yao, but even he wasn’t this good to me.”

“It’s good that it’s been cleared up; it means he wants to improve his relationship with you.”

“Bullshit, does he think that by doing this, I would forgive him? What about my mother’s suffering and my own suffering over these eighteen years, was it all in vain?”

“Hey, those are things of the past, let’s not talk about them anymore.”

The past isn’t over for me,” Ouyang Yue said, her temper rising more with each word.

“It’s true you shouldn’t forgive him so soon. But, in the end, you are father and daughter, and you are bound to reconcile. If you could accept him as your real dad, he would surely devote himself to helping you in the future. Then you wouldn’t need to worry about managing the Thirty-Six Islands.”

“Phooey! I don’t need him, let alone his help. I’ve gotten by just fine without him for all these years, living freely.”

Ye Chen realized he had made a huge mistake. This girl’s hatred for her biological father was something that couldn’t be compared to Nangong Yan’s; she had struggled for so many years.

“How could he be such a person? I should tell Nangong Yan not to acknowledge him either.”

“Hey, let’s not talk about this anymore, it’s only going to upset you. You’ve had quite a bit to drink; let’s get ready to go back.”

“Why aren’t you drinking? Come on, drink. Don’t you always drink until the fourth watch every time you come here? This alcohol is good stuff, it helps you forget the pain. Hurry up.”

Ye Chen was completely dumbfounded and didn’t know what to say.

“We are both people in pain, today we won’t return until we’re drunk.”

“Forget it.”

“What do you mean ‘forget it’? Drink up already.”

“I’ve already had quite a bit to drink today.”

“How could that be? Don’t worry, I’ve checked, even if you pass out, it doesn’t matter—the locals know where you live. They’ll make sure you get home safely. Don’t be afraid.”

Ye Chen was at a loss for words.

“Really, come on, stop thinking about those irrelevant things. The more you think about them, the more they trouble you. Alcohol is friendlier by far.” Sadly, Nangong Yan had died. She truly was my sister, and I couldn’t help but feel sorrowful once again.

These past few days, she had put on a strong front, but the pain in her heart was intense. Suddenly finding out that Nangong Yan was her biological sister, the hidden pain in her heart surged forward all at once. She said, “Yan’er, can you hear me? I’m truly your sister.”

Sadly, no one would hear that again, as tears streamed down her face.

“Hey, let’s not dwell on those sad thoughts. It’s all in the past. We need to look forward.”

“The past? Then why do you drink every day? Can you truly consider Nangong Yan’s death as something from the past? And that girl from the Central Plains too?”

“It’s all over, it’s all in the past. I won’t think about it anymore in the future.”

“You’re not lying to me, are you?”

“No more lies. I’m tired. No matter how much I trouble myself, it only causes me pain. No one else knows or cares, so what’s the point?”

“You won’t say the same tomorrow.” Ouyang Yue knew this guy too well; his word meant nothing.

The rest of the night passed in a blur, the conversation flowing, the drinking growing more intense, until later he couldn’t remember anything. He wasn’t even sure how he got back to the courtyard—probably someone had carried him again.

But no, when Ye Chen opened his eyes, he found himself not in his own room but in another, where he could smell a fragrance and saw a woman combing her hair in front of a bronze mirror.

Glancing at the ground, he saw his clothes scattered everywhere and realized he was naked.

Panic set in, and he recoiled to a corner, glancing around to confirm whether he was dreaming.

The girl in front of the mirror turned around and said coldly, “You’re awake.”

How could it be Ouyang Yue? Ye Chen asked, “I’m not dreaming, am I?”

“What do you think?”

“Then, last night we…”

“Haven’t you seen enough already?”

“What, I can’t remember anything.”

Ouyang Yue said, “My father said the same thing, that he couldn’t remember what happened back then. And then I was born.”

Ye Chen looked embarrassed; he truly couldn’t remember. Looking at Ouyang Yue, he felt as if he had done something wrong and didn’t know what to do next.

Ouyang Yue, however, remained completely calm. She thought he must have completely blanked out, definitely gone stupid.

“I really don’t remember what happened later.”

“Whether you remember or not doesn’t matter. I’m not asking you to take responsibility. You can pretend nothing happened, just like my father did. If there’s a child in the future, I’ll raise them on my own.”

Ye Chen, touching his aching head, longed to recall what had happened.

“Hurry up and get dressed, and go back to your room.”

“Could you go out first?”

“Is that really necessary? After all, it’s already come to this. Are you still afraid of me seeing you?”

Ye Chen’s expression was one of embarrassment.

Ouyang Yue stood up and walked towards the door, thinking to herself that this way she had something to hold over him. She wondered if he would continue to drink now.

She had reached the door and motioned to Ah Ya to prepare some food.

Of course, all of this was a ruse. The previous night, Ouyang Yue had returned completely sober.

The two had come back together, and she had pondered whether this rascal would go on to self-destruct after tonight, thinking he had no attachments.

Surely if he misunderstood and thought something had happened between them, she could trap him. Could it be that because of this misunderstanding, he would change his attitude and find his way out of his confusion?

She knew Ye Chen was a responsible person, so she decided to exploit that. In the heat of the moment, without thinking too much, she planned it all. Of course, it wasn’t she who took off his clothes.

Ye Chen hastily put on his clothes, awkwardly left the room, and saw Ouyang Yue watering the flowers. That morning, she wasn’t busy with Temple duties. Embarrassed, Ye Chen kept his head down and hurried back to his room.
