Chapter 1221 - 1221 1207 Old Friends Meet

Chapter 1221: Chapter 1207: Old Friends Meet Chapter 1221: Chapter 1207: Old Friends Meet Guo Yuyun only then realized that the Red Demonic Spirit was unaware of what had happened on Sacred Spirit Island later on, and said, “I know about this. They killed Qiandu Xiang and took down Sacred Spirit Island, but Ye Chen killed a girl named Nangong Yan.”

Upon hearing this, the Red Demonic Spirit pulled on the reins of the horse car, nearly leaping up in shock, and turned back to ask, “Nangong Yan is dead?”

Seeing the Red Demonic Spirit’s anxious demeanor, Guo Yuyun couldn’t quite believe it and said, “The letter Li Mo sent to my sister said so. It mentioned that Qiandu Xiang attracted evil and magic power into his body, and even merged with the Moon Beast. Ye Chen and the others had not anticipated that Qiandu Xiang could control the Moon Beast, let alone merge with it.”

“Even if he merged with the Moon Beast, he couldn’t be a match for Ye Chen, who possessed both the Sacred Spirit Stone and the Wolf King’s Ring.”

“That’s right, he indeed was no match for Ye Chen, but Qiandu Xiang lured Ye Chen into Sacred Spirit City and used the power of the Ninety-nine Returns to One Array to push Ye Chen towards demonic possession.”

The Red Demonic Spirit exploded with emotion, thinking of Nangong Yan. How could that girl die? He absolutely didn’t want such a thing to happen. The horse car came to a complete stop, and he was frozen in place, staring ahead like a piece of wood.

“Hey, what’s done is done; nobody wanted this to happen. Let’s hurry on our way.”

“How could something like this happen?” He felt the urge to cry.

“Stop dawdling, let’s get moving. We’ll be discovered soon.”

“What exactly happened?” The Red Demonic Spirit still couldn’t bring himself to believe it.

“I don’t know the specifics; I only sneaked a look at my sister’s letter and found out about this. Anyway, something happened. Li Mo wasn’t very clear about it.”

The Red Demonic Spirit continued driving the horse car, then asked, “What about Ye Chen?”

“After he killed that girl, he was in a half-human, half-demon state, but he used Silver Needles to seal off his meridians, stabilizing the magic power inside his body. What happened after that, Li Mo didn’t say.” Guo Yuyun was also puzzled, unsure of who that girl really was, for Li Mo hadn’t made it clear. But she knew Ye Chen’s character well; if an innocent girl had died by his hands, he would surely be very upset. She was certain of that.

“That girl named Nangong Yan, who exactly was she?” Guo Yuyun still couldn’t help but ask, believing that she must have been no ordinary girl.

The Red Demonic Spirit, disheartened, said, “She was the daughter of the Immortal Medicine Island’s Island Master. The help we received from the Sacred Spirit Stone was because of her. It was through her that we approached Immortal Medicine Island and Iron Ten Thousand Island.” His heart was heavy with grief. He never imagined he would not even get to see her one last time—the loss would certainly cause the Monkey extreme sorrow. He kept shaking his head and looking at the sky, wondering how such a thing could happen.

“The daughter of the Immortal Medicine Island’s Island Master? You were able to borrow the Sacred Spirit Stone because of her?”

“Of course. Who do you think we are—just with the Black Demonic Spirit and Ye Chen, plus a third-rate Li Mo, would we be able to seize the Sacred Spirit Stone?”

His words rang true, and Guo Yuyun, now curious, asked, “Can you tell me what happened during this time I was kept in the dark? What did you all go through?”

The Red Demonic Spirit’s mind was consumed with thoughts of Nangong Yan, so he began to recount the events from when Ye Chen met her, through the incident on Sacred Spirit Island, to fleeing to Xiyue Island, and then snatching the Sacred Spirit Stone. He also remembered how the stone helped him and the Red Demonic Spirit recover their physical forms, and why Ye Chen’s spell casting had ultimately failed.

Listening, Guo Yuyun murmured, “Are you saying that girl had feelings for Ye Chen?” From the brief and not-so-detailed account by the Red Demonic Spirit, Guo Yuyun inferred that the girl had been helping Ye Chen and made such a judgment unconsciously.

What does it matter if she had feelings for him? She’s already dead; it’s meaningless now. The Red Demonic Spirit struggled to accept the fact that Nangong Yan was gone. The thought of the Monkey’s anguish made him feel especially chaotic, unable to digest the news. He asked, “How about you? Have you been well lately?”

She did not respond, but her silent acknowledgment confirmed her suspicion—the girl was no ordinary girl. She shook her head and said, “I really thought Ye Chen had died and that you had been buried alive with him.”

As they arrived at the crossroads of the small town, disciples from the Nine Leaves Sect and Demon Palace City kept watch. However, they dared not search recklessly, as they lacked the authority to do so. Besides, they all assumed that Guo Yuyun was alone and never suspected she had help. After making brief inquiries, they let the Red Demonic Spirit go.

Reaching a patch of forest, the Red Demonic Spirit slowly brought the horse car to a stop, his mind still focused on Nangong Yan. He was furious, unable to comprehend how those guys could be so foolish as to kill Qiandu Xiang and, in doing so, let Nangong Yan’s life be forfeited. He didn’t know what to make of them anymore.

Guo Yuyun climbed down and took a deep breath, noting that the sun was already high and fiery, while the cicadas again began their raucous chirping. The forest was relatively secluded, not a place people commonly visited. Seeing the downcast look on the Red Demonic Spirit, she said, “It seems you had a good relationship with that girl named Nangong Yan.”

The Red Demonic Spirit sighed deeply and replied, “Without her, we wouldn’t have been able to get in touch with the Sacred Spirit Stone. I can’t fathom how such a large group of people couldn’t protect a single girl.”

Recognizing his distress, Guo Yuyun remarked, “The situation must have been very complicated. You don’t know what happened, and even Ye Chen nearly succumbed to demonic possession.”

“I don’t even know what to say about them anymore.” The Red Demonic Spirit kept shaking his head.

Guo Yuyun also heaved a long sigh, unsure how to comfort him. They all needed some peace. Yun’er hadn’t fully processed the news about Ye Chen and was pondering how to help him dispel the magic power from his body.

It wasn’t long before the Black Demonic Spirit returned, carrying big and small packages, complaining, “How could you make me do this kind of work? From now on, you take care of these chores.” He was speaking to the Red Demonic Spirit but then noticed his morose expression and asked, “Little Hong, something’s wrong with your face.”

That’s when the Red Demonic Spirit looked up and said, “Nangong Yan is dead.”

“What? What nonsense are you talking about?” The Black Demonic Spirit too found it hard to believe.

The Red Demonic Spirit, attempting to explain, said, “Li Mo wrote a letter to her sister, and it was mentioned in it. This girl saw the letter.”

The Black Demonic Spirit couldn’t believe it and thundered over, asking heavily, “Is this true?”

Guo Yuyun could only explain it again.

The Black Demonic Spirit began to curse up a storm, ranting, “How could something like this happen! Damn Qiandu Xiang, what the hell were those guys doing, they couldn’t even protect a girl.” His furious outburst was frightening to witness, and it was clear that he cared deeply and was very angry.

He swore and cursed for nearly half an hour before he gradually calmed down and lost his appetite for food.

Feeling repressed for nearly one hour, they no longer had the thought of continuing their journey; before they knew it, it was already noon.

“Hey, no matter how upset you are, you still need to eat something,” Guo Yuyun didn’t know the girl, yet felt great sympathy for her, especially seeing them so agitated, she didn’t know what to say to comfort them.

It was really unexpected that aside from the pile of events that had happened to her, they had also gone through so much.

“We haven’t even had breakfast yet, and it’s almost noon.” She remembered, when she had barged into their room, they were just about to go eat.

The Black Demonic Spirit finally looked up and said, “Eat.”

Cicada, who had been called twice, stopped again.

Guo Yuyun said, “Hey, forget about all that. I’m still very happy for you two, being able to find your bodies and become normal people.”

The two of them ate without speaking, still engulfed in their sorrow.

Guo Yuyun continued, “I am going to Sacred Spirit Island to find Ye Chen. I wonder if you two would like to go.” She really wanted to invite them to go together; alone, she was unfamiliar with the thirty-six islands and still uncertain how to reach her destination.

The Red Demonic Spirit spoke up, “I’ll accompany you.” He, too, wanted to go to Sacred Spirit Island. Having heard Guo Yuyun out on the situation, he looked towards the Black Demonic Spirit and asked, “Black Demonic Spirit, do you want to go?”

“How could I not go? I need to ask those guys how they failed to protect a girl.” The Black Demonic Spirit chewed on a Grilled Sesame Seed Cake.

Guo Yuyun said, “If that’s the case, let’s travel together.”

In the Inn, they just found out Guo Yuyun had left moments before, disappearing in the blink of an eye. By noon, there was still no sign of Guo Yuyun, and Song Xizhi felt a hint of loss as he called out, “Stop searching, Yun’er has definitely left the town already.”

“She was just one person, and we were all watching the town’s main road entrance,” said a subordinate.

Wu Jingge said after listening, “Even though she was alone, with a little silver, there are many who would gladly help her escape. I bet by now she’s long gone and not in the town anymore.”

Song Xizhi said, “Yun’er is very clever. If you think it’s easy to find someone like her, think again—it’s difficult.”

“It’s really like looking for a needle in a haystack if someone really did help her,” said a subordinate.

“You all go back,” Song Xizhi instructed.

“Go back, we’re not searching anymore?” the subordinate asked.

“Wu Jingge and I will continue the search,” Song Xizhi said, thinking that even if they found Yun’er, she probably wouldn’t return. Since she had decided to run away from the marriage, it would surely be to find Ye Chen.

The others nodded.

“I’m going to Sacred Spirit Island,” said Song Xizhi to Wu Jingge.

Wu Jingge didn’t know what else to say.

“I can’t just abandon her; this is my decision.”

Wu Jingge knew how much Song Xizhi liked Yun’er and said, “Won’t you tell your father?”

“A letter back to him will suffice,” was the reply.

“Alright, I’ll accompany you,” Wu Jingge agreed.

Song Xizhi looked at Wu Jingge, unsure of what else to say.
