Chapter 1219 - 1219 1205 Bruised and Swollen

Chapter 1219: Chapter 1205: Bruised and Swollen Chapter 1219: Chapter 1205: Bruised and Swollen Qing’er didn’t descend the mountain. She chose to stay on the summit to console her mother. Xia Yue, who seemed to have gone mad, berated Guo Yuyun, furious and disappointed. It wasn’t just scolding; it was a surge of fear and worry, as well as uncertainty about how to face Song Zheng’an and others who were still on the mountain.

What was meant to be a fine wedding had turned out this way, leaving everyone dumbfounded, uncertain of what to do.

There were many matters Qing’er needed to attend to, so she delegated the task of searching for Guo Yuyun to Song Xizhi, knowing he would leave no stone unturned in his search.

“How could you do this, hiding it for so long, couldn’t you keep it hidden for one more day? You just had to let her know now,” Xia Yue lashed out at Qing’er.

Qing’er was at a loss for words, and although Luo Rui tried to explain on her behalf, not a single word was taken to heart by Xia Yue.

Qing’er waved her hand, asking Luo Rui to step back for the moment, deciding to handle the situation herself.

Over there, Su Zhanze was feigning consolation.

Qing’er didn’t blame him but merely felt he was too immature.

Through He Xibai, she learned that last evening near dusk, Su Zhanze had met with Guo Yuyun. Whether it was during this meeting that he told Yun’er that Ye Chen was still alive, she couldn’t be sure.

She certainly had reason to suspect that a person with Su Zhanze’s personality, after such a strong shock, would be capable of doing such a thing.

It was futile to pursue the matter now; she only regretted not considering things clearly at the time. Why was she so rash, insisting on this timing? If only she could have delayed it, perhaps today’s events wouldn’t have unfolded.

Xia Yue’s health wasn’t great, somewhat neurotic. After spending a restless second half of the night in an agitated state, Qing’er hurriedly asked Luo Rui to take her mother back.

Xia Yue exclaimed, “If something happens to your sister, I’ll see if you can rest easy. Are you even a competent older sister?”

As Xia Yue ranted, Qing’er didn’t retort but instead felt a twisted relief. If she weren’t chastised, she would feel uneasy. She had always felt her mother’s scolding was unjust, but today, she was left speechless by the other’s rebuke.

Finally, Luo Rui and a few maids saw the neurasthenic stepmother off.

Embarrassed, Su Zhanze approached, wanting to help but was pushed away by Qing’er. She had been inclined to slap him, but then pitied her own palm. After all, he was a Sect Leader. Most importantly, this man didn’t realize his mistake, so what use would hitting him be, only to put herself in an awkward position.

Seeing Guo Yuqing walking away without a backward glance, Su Zhanze understood that she was angry and might also be aware of the issue. However, he didn’t feel he was at fault and believed he had handled the situation well. This way, Guo Yuqing wouldn’t be able to be with that boy.

He hadn’t expected the situation to escalate like this. The truly hateful one was Ye Chen; how wonderful it would have been if he had died – none of this would have happened today, he thought bitterly.

He hated, truly hated. The more Guo Yuqing behaved this way, the more he hated.

Finally reaching a small town, the bruised Red Demonic Spirit and Black Demonic Spirit barely escaped being dunked in a pig cage. If they hadn’t run fast enough, they would’ve faced a public shaming.

They were two against more than thirty men, and without their previous magic power, which allowed them to absorb energy and escape swiftly, they would have been capture.

Brushing his bruised right cheek, Black Demonic Spirit said, “That little girl is ruthless, calling us big perverts. If I catch her, I’ll show her no mercy.” His face throbbed with pain, feeling as if his eye was swollen.

The arm of Red Demonic Spirit ached, needing some medicinal wine. “I told you that you didn’t look like good news. Now you believe me?”

Black Demonic Spirit sneered, “You look like good news, yet you were beaten too.”

An inn appeared ahead; they were terribly hungry and entered the inn, which was quite full with mostly overnight guests.

Red Demonic Spirit booked a room and instructed the waiter to bring food upstairs later on.

They retired to their room.

“Are you still planning to find that girl?” Black Demonic Spirit asked with exasperation.

Wondering where the girl might have gone, Red Demonic Spirit pondered that there seemed to be only this small town in the vicinity. If they didn’t search now, it could become even harder to locate her. They needed to find her and reveal their true identities. “Of course, why wouldn’t we?”

“Do you think I haven’t been beaten enough?”

“Find her and simply reveal our identities,” Red Demonic Spirit suggested.

“Then why didn’t you tell her when you ran into her today?”

“I was concerned about scaring her then. How was I to know she’d mistake us for perverts?” Red Demonic Spirit said, applying medicinal wine to his arm.

“That girl deserves a lesson. We’re so handsome, yet she calls us perverts. And those martial artists were even worse. If it weren’t for their overwhelming numbers, I surely wouldn’t have spared them.”

“Save it. You’re lucky you weren’t caught and put in a pig cage,” Red Demonic Spirit retorted.

Unable to reach the wound on his back, Black Demonic Spirit said, “Help me apply some medicine to the injury on my back, I can’t reach it.”

Knock, knock – the door echoed. Black Demonic Spirit knew the food had arrived. They were preoccupied, unable to open the door, so he shouted, “The door isn’t latched, just push it open.”

The waiter, accompanied by two maids carrying food, entered and were stunned to see two men, bare-armed and shirtless, in an apparent embrace.

“Don’t get the wrong idea. We’re not that sort; we’re just applying medicine to a wound.”

The two women clearly were very shy, they put down their food and hurried out. The waiter said, “If there’s anything else you need, just let me know,” and then left, closing the door behind him.

The Black Demonic Spirit said, “They must have misunderstood us, thinking we’re a couple.”

“As if I’d be a couple with you,” Red Demonic Spirit retorted sharply, slapping him hard on the back.

It hurt so much that the Black Demonic Spirit almost jumped up, exclaiming, “What was that for?”

“You need a bit of force to help disperse the clotting blood,” was the reply.

“Then I should give you a slap too.”

Quickly dodging, Red Demonic Spirit said, “Let’s not and say we did.”

“You haven’t told me yet whether we should keep looking for that girl or not.”

“Why wouldn’t we look for her? What else would we do?”

“That girl must be heading for Sacred Spirit Island, and we’ve just come back from the Thirty-Six Isles.”

Red Demonic Spirit munched on some food, pondering how to find the girl, while Black Demonic Spirit, who had just been walloped, had no interest at all at the moment.

“That gang is the real pack of wolves. It’s bad enough to beat someone up, but they even tore my clothes to shreds,” Black Demonic Spirit lamented, having finally chosen the coolest outfit, which was now riddled with large holes.

Red Demonic Spirit suggested, “Maybe you’re just too sexy, and they wanted to assault you.”

The Black Demonic Spirit was fuming with anger, feeling pain throughout his body, coming in waves.

Guo Yuyun went around and found an inn to rest in.

All day, her thoughts were occupied with Ye Chen. She wondered how he was and what the situation in Demon Palace City was like. It definitely wasn’t good, but as long as he was alive, it was enough for her.

Just thinking of these things gave her a headache.

She felt that she had let Song Xizhi down. She knew he loved her, and her departure in such a way must have deeply hurt him. She had even left sneakingly without affording him a final meeting.

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to clear the air, but she didn’t know how to face Song Xizhi, feeling indebted to him. That’s why she hadn’t met with him; she also lacked the courage to see him and could only apologize to him.

She couldn’t just abandon Ye Chen, absolutely not. Even though many months had passed, her feelings for Ye Chen remained unchanged, still deeply in love with him. She had agreed to be with Song Xizhi because she thought Ye Chen was dead, which was why she had agreed to marry.

Especially now, with Ye Chen likely in so much pain, having killed an innocent girl, no one knew what would happen next. How could she peacefully get married without worrying about these matters? She simply couldn’t do it.

All at once, her emotions began intensifying.

It was as if they had ignited.

The feelings buried deep in her heart were now fully awakened.

Ye Chen had braved dangers to go to Sky Mountain to save her, and to keep her from harm, he had lied about his death.

If she were married, it would be a different story, but she wasn’t. She had to find him or she’d regret it for the rest of her life.

Memories flooded back, repeatedly surfacing in her mind.

The night darkened, and she didn’t know after how long she finally fell asleep, having pondered a lot.

Dawn was beginning to break.

She planned to have breakfast and then leave quickly.

Suddenly, there was a commotion up ahead—no good, that was Song Xizhi.

Song Xizhi, leading a group of people, was heading this way, marching quickly towards the inn. What to do? She absolutely couldn’t let them find her; among them were people from Demon Palace City, who would surely drag her back if they caught her.

In a frantic scramble, she needed to find a place to hide, going back to her room was out of the question—they’d surely come to the front desk and ask, and once they did, they’d know which room she was in.

As they were about to arrive, she ran out, too late to get away, scurrying along while covering her face like Haozi.

Having spent the night, Red Demonic Spirit and Black Demonic Spirit had just woken up.

The medicinal alcohol from the previous night hadn’t completely eased the discomfort. The pain made turning over in bed unbearable all night long until they managed to sleep, waiting for daylight.

While Red Demonic Spirit was figuring out how to find Guo Yuqing, Black Demonic Spirit was berated, crying out, “You think I wasn’t beaten badly enough to have a bruised face and a bloody nose?”

Red Demonic Spirit said, “I know you want to have fun, but you’re also aware that going to Sacred Spirit Island is no easy task. Moreover, she doesn’t know the situation on Sacred Spirit Island.” Partially worried about the girl, he’d concluded that Guo Yuyun must be one hundred percent sure that Ye Chen was alive.
