Chapter 1069 - 1069 1055 Xiyue Island

Chapter 1069: Chapter 1055: Xiyue Island Chapter 1069: Chapter 1055: Xiyue Island Nangong Yao dared not be careless, closely watching behind, fearing someone might follow them again. However, he was truly grateful to the group that had caused such a disturbance; otherwise, he would not have known how to shake off Qiandu Xiang’s men. But he couldn’t afford to let his guard down at this moment.

Ouyang Yue was sunk in mourning for Si Nanyu’s death. These past days, she kept dreaming about Si Nanyu. In the beginning, she endured it, but in the last couple of days, all the past events rushed out at once, like a gushing spring, memories filling her up entirely.

Many duties were now Nangong Yao’s responsibility. She was someone who didn’t usually manage the sect’s affairs; when her godfather was around, she had never dealt with the sect’s business. It was Si Nanyu who helped her godfather.

But Si Nanyu was gone, without any mental preparation, things had happened just like that.

She sat alone in the ship’s cabin, staring at the surging sea, unsure of where the road lay ahead. Only one thing she knew, to seek revenge; other than that, she had nothing.

Nangong Yao came up and saw Ouyang Yue in a daze by herself, knowing she was in a bad mood, he said with concern, “Girl, why are you here alone? The wind is strong here.”

Ouyang Yue wiped away her tears and said, “I want to be alone for a while.”

“You have been crying,” Nangong Yao said, not sure what else to say.

Ouyang Yue shook her head and said, “We haven’t been followed by Qiandu Xiang, have we?” For her, if she had a choice, she would rather be the one who died, but she knew Si Nanyu would not let that happen.

“Hmm, not for the moment; we really owe it to those people from earlier.”

“Who were those people anyway?” Ouyang Yue asked, doubtful.

“We don’t know yet.”

“Uncle Master, thank you,” she said.

“Why say that?” Nangong Yao asked with a smile.

Ouyang Yue stood up and said, “If you hadn’t helped us, there would be no one else who could.”

“I’m your Uncle Master and a disciple of the Sacred Spirit Sect; how could I not help you?”

“That may be true, but I still am very grateful to you,” Ouyang Yue said, not knowing what else she could say.

Suddenly, Jiu Hu rushed up from below and exclaimed, “There’s a phenomenon occurring!”

Ouyang Yue looked up to see a dark cloud above, accompanied by lightning, pushing toward them like a giant demon, somewhat frightening, making everyone tense.

Her godfather had told her that before reaching Xiyue Island, a phenomenon would occur to scare away those who were afraid. To pass through the phenomenon would mean that the Key Box could reveal Xiyue Island.

Ouyang Yue held back her grief and called out, “Hurry up and bring me the map and the Key Box.”

Jiu Hu quickly handed her the Key Box and the map. Opening the Key Box, a red light burst forth, dazzlingly bright. Inside the Key Box was a needle that flickered like a compass. Ouyang Yue studied the map and then looked to Nangong Yao.

Nangong Yao nodded slightly, confirming that Xiyue Island was not far ahead, then called out, “Get them ready; we are going to pass through the storm clouds.”

Jiu Hu hurried down to give orders; they had to pass through the storm clouds to see Xiyue Island.

Nangong Yao also became tense. The storm clouds, with their lightning and strong winds, like a monster, were bearing down on them. Without proper preparation, he feared the ship might capsize, and said, “Go down below, quickly get below.” He needed to make arrangements; otherwise, it’d be chaos when the moment came.

The wind grew stronger and stronger, furiously rocking the ship, as if trying to overturn it.

The waves on the water’s surface grew larger too, violently slapping against the ship, as if trying to blast it open.

Thunderous roars, like those from hell, seemed to signal a desire to devour the ship, and rain poured down, turning daylight into night as if hope could no longer be seen.

Waves surged, some of the seawater spilled over and flowed into the cabin.

Boom, boom, boom…

The lightning grew increasingly frequent.

Jiu Hu rallied everyone, saying that any other ship seeing such a sight would have run away in fear, not daring to charge ahead, but they knew they had to pass this first challenge to get to Xiyue Island.

The ship rocked more and more violently.

Two ships sailed side by side moving forward.

But the wind grew even stronger, the sails flapping wildly, sounding like the howling of a demon. Jiu Hu shouted, “Hurry, take down the sails!” Fearing that if the sails weren’t lowered, the wind might catch them and overturn the entire ship, an event that could happen at any moment.

Guan Xun quickly went to help.

The ship’s rocking grew even more violent; it seemed too late to lower the sails.

Nangong Yao shouted, “Forget lowering the sails, cut the ropes!”

It seemed that was the only option. Guan Xun, with several others, raced to the front to cut the ropes securing the sails.

The rain, mingled with lightning, was frightening enough, and the wind grew stronger. The vessel could capsize at any moment. When the sail ropes were cut, indeed, it didn’t catch the wind as much, and gradually, it became much calmer.

But one couldn’t be careless, as some people were almost shaken into the sea.

Like a monster causing mischief, the lightning flashed incessantly like fireworks, nearly deafening everyone to the point where they couldn’t hear each other speak. They could only communicate through hand gestures, all waiting, knowing the violent wind would eventually pass, but certainly not so quickly. They had to hold steady.

“Hu-hu-ha-ha…”

Their clothes were long soaked, and with no time to worry about anything else, their only task was to ensure the ship didn’t flip. If it did, it would be over, for there would be no one to rescue them here.

Nangong Yao was on full alert, not daring to relax for a moment, as everyone waited for the storm to pass.

Ouyang Yue also wanted to help, but Jiu Hu wouldn’t allow her. However, as the situation gradually came under control, she slowly breathed a sigh of relief.

The rain pattered incessantly, and the lightning continued to strike relentlessly.

Ahead was pitch black.

The storm raged for half an hour before it slowly subsided. Looking back, the dark clouds and lightning were behind them, and the front had become hazy with an especially thick fog.

The day had brightened a lot, but the fog had grown even denser.

Ouyang Yue ran out, and everything was as people had said.

She made her way to the cabin’s deck, where Nangong Yao and others, having changed clothes, now stood at the forefront. Ouyang Yue asked, “Have we arrived?”

Nangong Yao said, “Give me the map and the Key Box.”

Ouyang Yue hurriedly passed the map and key to him. Nangong Yao opened the box, and the needle inside had become obviously much steadier, no longer swinging chaotically. It was clear there was no longer any interference.

It should be correct, Nangong Yao nodded his head.

Not knowing how much longer they traveled, they finally breached the thick white fog.

As clarity returned, no island was in sight, but Nangong Yao knew this seemed like an illusion. He knew Xiyue Island lay straight ahead, that perilous Xiyue Island, right in front of them.

He handed the map to Nangong Yao and then, raising the Key Box abruptly, pinched his fingers, channeling a stream of energy into the Key Box, awakening its power. A surge of energy poured out like a torrent, and with a boom, like a meteor, it struck something ahead.

An energy shock wave burst forth, followed by countless bolts of lightning splitting apart, unveiling a magical scene.

It was as if Pandora’s box had been opened.

An energy barrier, as tall as a mountain and flickering in and out of view, was assaulted by the lightning, being devoured, until slowly disappearing. A vast island appeared ahead, too large to see at a glance.

The lush island, with Winged Dragons chaotically flying above it, echoed with continuous monster cries, as if it were all a dream.

That was the Xiyue Island, sealed off for over a hundred years and now before their eyes, as everyone stared wide-eyed, never expecting the island to appear before them.

The box was gently closed, and the island became clearer and clearer as the ship approached it.

Ouyang Yue tensed up, knowing that to seek her revenge, she must find the Sacred Spirit Stone on the island. But the Sacred Spirit Stone wasn’t simply within reach; she had to pass through the wild forest to reach the highest mountain on the island, where the Sacred Spirit Stone lay within.

Clenching her fists tightly, she resolved to get the Sacred Spirit Stone, vowing to avenge her godfather and Si Nanyu.

Jiu Hu, along with a group of people, came up and said, “That’s great, we’ve managed to shake off Qiandu Xiang. It seems like all of this is fate.”

The elder from the Sacred Spirit Sect, Xie Ruqing, said, “Indeed, we have ample time left. We should hurry onto the island.”

Nangong Yao glanced at the sky and shook his head, saying, “No, we must wait until it gets dark before landing on the island. With so many Winged Dragons around, they will undoubtedly attack us.”

Ouyang Yue nodded slightly and said, “Uncle Master, we will follow your lead.”

Nangong Yao called out, “Everyone, be cautious. I don’t think it will be long before night falls.” That was an island that hadn’t been visited by anyone in a hundred years; already a place of terror a hundred years ago, no one could say how many had died within it. After more than a hundred years, the extent of changes inside was unknown.

Yet he was aware of the dangers within and, compared to others, was more cautious, quickly instructing them to rest in preparation for the darkness.

Qiandu Ao cursed, “Dammit, Shao Hengjiang, what a bloody hard shell to crack. How could he have teamed up with the people of Immortal Medicine Island?”

It was now virtually certain that the two ships that attacked them from behind were from the Iron Ten Thousand Bandits.

Qiandu Xiang was also very astonished, as by all accounts, Shao Hengjiang wouldn’t normally do such a thing.

Gu Feng said, “This Shao Hengjiang, there’s no reason for him to do such things. Didn’t he help us destroy the Cangqiong just a while ago? What are they attacking us for, midway through their journey?”

Qiandu Xiang was equally conflicted.

Qiandu Ao said, “They must be in cahoots with the people from the Immortal Medicine Sect; otherwise, they wouldn’t have done this. Clearly, they’re on the same side. The last time they destroyed the Cangqiong, it was just a ruse to deceive us. Brother, you shouldn’t have agreed to let them control the Iron Ten Thousand Island region.”
