Chapter 1038 - 1038 1024 The Past

Chapter 1038: Chapter 1024: The Past Chapter 1038: Chapter 1024: The Past Wu Jingge said, “I’ve heard that your father has long wanted to seek an alliance with Demon Palace City through marriage, but he just hasn’t found a match for you. This time, he doesn’t need to look anymore.”

Song Xizhi glared at him and retorted, “Say that again, and I really will get angry with you.”

“No more talk, let’s eat quickly. However, I am very clear about one thing, girls are most approachable when they are heartbroken, that’s when they are at their most vulnerable and most open to emotion,” Wu Jingge said.

Song Xizhi kept his head down, eating, but his mind was full of the images from before. For the Nine Leaves Sect, there was a certain distance to Demon Palace City, something they had never dared to hope for.

Seizing the opportunity, Wu Jingge continued, “Guo Yuyun, I haven’t heard she is married yet. At most, she liked someone, but these won’t become obstacles. The person is gone, it will all become part of the past.”

Song Xizhi stared at Wu Jingge, lost in thought about something.

It’s uncertain how much time had passed when suddenly the two disciples who had left earlier came back with a few people. The most anxious was a girl at the front. She immediately asked, “Where is Guo Yuyun?”

Song Xizhi guessed that this must be her sister and quickly responded, “She’s in the room,” and then led her upstairs while explaining to Guo Yuqing along the way.

Guo Yuqing didn’t catch much of what was said, her mind preoccupied with hoping nothing had happened to Guo Yuyun.

The door to the room opened, and there lying on the bed was indeed her sister.

Only when she confirmed it was indeed her sister did Guo Yuqing feel reassured.

Song Xizhi said, “Sister Qing’er, let’s go downstairs instead of waking her up here.”

Guo Yuqing nodded repeatedly, knowing Yun’er hadn’t had a good rest for several days.

Song Xizhi recounted how he encountered Guo Yuyun.

It still gave Guo Yuqing a scare, and she quickly thanked him, saying, “I really don’t know how to thank you enough.”

Song Xizhi hurriedly responded, “Hey, we are all from the Demon Immortals World. The important thing is that nothing bad happened.”

“She’s been in a bad mood for a while, often sneaking out to drink. We were negligent and let her escape again,” Guo Yuqing said, wiping the sweat from her brow.

Song Xizhi said, “Yes, we’ve heard about Yun’er and Ye Chen. We are very saddened by it, too. But it’s not good for Yun’er to be this way. What if something were to happen to her?”

Guo Yuqing didn’t expect him to also call her Yun’er, she replied, “Yes, she had just come back from Divine Doctor Zhu. We were planning to take her back to Demon Palace City, but something happened on the way.”

“I happen to be going to your Demon Palace City as well,” Song Xizhi said.

Wu Jingge was stunned, having been unaware of this matter; it was all in that letter earlier from his father asking him to go see the lord of Demon Palace, Lou Xuancheng, to discuss how to handle Ren Xiongbei’s affairs.

“You’re also heading to Demon Palace City?” Guo Yuqing was a bit incredulous.

Song Xizhi hurriedly explained, “I need to deliver a letter to Lord Lou.”

“Oh, I see.” Guo Yuqing was full of gratitude towards Song Xizhi, and upon hearing Wu Jingge mention that if they hadn’t appeared, Yun’er might have been taken away by bad people, she was even more thankful.

So they were from the Nine Leaves Sect. Although she didn’t interact much with the Nine Leaves Sect, she had heard of them.

Wu Jingge said, “Sister, you must not have eaten yet, right?”

The word ‘sister’ brought a cheerful feeling to Guo Yuqing, especially since they had found Yun’er and she had relaxed somewhat. She nodded slightly.

“We were eating, and seeing that Yun’er hasn’t rested well for a long time, let’s not disturb her. Let her rest properly.”

Upon hearing this, Qing’er said, “But that’s your room.”

“Hey, this is an inn; getting another room is very easy. Let’s not disturb Yun’er,” said Song Xizhi as he led Guo Yuqing and the others downstairs.

“I really don’t know how to thank you all enough.”

“Don’t mention it, it was just a small effort. We are all from the Demon Immortals World, and anyone would help in this kind of situation,” Song Xizhi said before asking Wu Jingge to bring up some good food.

Guo Yuqing felt somewhat embarrassed, having imposed on them, and they were strangers to boot. But Song Xizhi was very friendly, calling her sister and referring to Yun’er affectionately as if they were all one family.

“We’ve also heard about Young Master Ye and Yun’er. Ye Chen is a good man, and no one wished for such an incident to happen.”

“Yes, but my sister just can’t accept it. I don’t know what to do. I’m just afraid of her running away again if there’s any mishap,” Guo Yuqing said.

Wu Jingge said, “We’re just about to head to Demon Palace City so we can travel together and look out for each other.”

Qing’er looked over and said, “Will this disturb you?”

Song Xizhi hurriedly replied, “Not at all, it’s actually quite nice to have company.”

“If that’s the case, then that’s really great.”

Song Xizhi was so elated that he was at a loss for words and quickly they made arrangements.

That morning,

Guo Yuyun slowly opened her eyes and saw someone standing by the window, her back to Guo Yuyun. She had already forgotten what had happened the night before. Sitting up slowly, she only felt her head was heavy and slightly aching, an effect of drinking too much.

“Sister, you’re up early.”

Guo Yuqing looked over and, with anger in her voice, said, “What exactly do you want? Can’t you let us have peace of mind?” She became angry thinking about what Song Xizhi and the others had mentioned last night.

“Sister, what’s wrong?” Guo Yuyun walked over leisurely, intending to pour herself some tea.

Guo Yuqing said, “What’s wrong? Do you even know that last night, you were almost tricked and taken away?”

Yun’er looked at her in disbelief and said, “Tricked away?”

“Do you think I’m lying? If we hadn’t run into Song Xizhi from the Nine Leaves Sect, what state you’d be in now is still up for debate.” As she spoke, tears welled up in Guo Yuqing’s eyes.

But Yun’er didn’t know how to comfort her and remained nonchalant, seemingly indifferent.

“My sister, please have some pity on us. I know you’re hurting, but Ye Chen has been gone for so long, you should let go. You can’t keep living like this, you need to think about others,” she was torn and couldn’t speak her mind, but with things having reached this point, she continued, “Our father is already dead, and what mother worries about the most now is you. If something were to happen to you, how could I face her?”

This left Yun’er speechless.

Guo Yuqing continued, “You really can’t get into trouble. Can’t you just do this for us? What’s the use of getting drunk every day? If you really stir up trouble, and if an accident truly happens, what are we supposed to do? We’re not always this lucky; we’re all so tired.”

This was the hard truth. Guo Yuyun knew her sister had a load of troubles, with Su Zhanze causing such harm to Demon Palace City and leading to their father’s and many disciples’ deaths. She knew her sister had completely broken ties with Su Zhanze and no one knew what the future held. She retorted, “Then you should just stop worrying about me.”

“What! You want me to stop worrying so you can go out and create chaos, right? What kind of behavior is this?” Guo Yuqing was appalled she would say such a thing.

“Go attend to your own matters, okay!”

Guo Yuqing was truly angry now and exclaimed, “Mind my own business, while watching you get into trouble and seeing mother distressed? Is that what you really mean? Can’t you consider others for a moment?”

“That’s right, I’m irresponsible, happy now?” Yun’er was defiant, but deep down, she was also very upset.

“Ye Chen went through so much trouble and even risked his life to save you, and this is how you repay him,” she couldn’t reveal her deepest feelings, but she believed these words would have an impact.

At the mention of Ye Chen’s name, Yun’er’s defenses crumbled, and her tears flowed again.

“He risked his life to save you, and this is how you choose to repay his sacrifice.” Guo Yuqing knew things couldn’t continue like this; she had to scold her properly. If this behavior persisted, her sister would be ruined. The events of the previous night, had they occurred, would have had unimaginable consequences. She said, “You’re not a child anymore, I know you’re in pain, but you must live well. I believe that if Ye Chen is watching over us, he wouldn’t want to see you continue suffering. Since father’s passing, mother hasn’t recovered, and if something happened to you, what would we do? How could mother go on living?”

Having said her piece, Guo Yuqing offered no comfort, simply stated, “Think about it on your own,” and then left. She knew the other needed her peace.

At the door, she ran into Song Xizhi. Song Xizhi had just overheard their conversation. Guo Yuqing was still emotional, her eyes brimming with tears, but she merely nodded at Song Xizhi and moved on.

Song Xizhi couldn’t help but feel a pang of heartache hearing the cries from inside the room.

How could Guo Yuyun not know that her sister and the others were worried about her? Those words struck at her very core, immediately bringing Ye Chen to mind, along with many past memories.

Life was like that, those who left had truly gone, never to return. But those who remained had to keep moving forward.

She too felt a deep affection for her sister, though she had not voiced it.

Time passed, and then suddenly, there was a knock at the door, followed by an entry.

She saw a strange boy, carrying delicious food in his hands.

Guo Yuyun couldn’t recall who he was until he introduced himself as Song Xizhi, a disciple of the Nine Leaves Sect. Then she remembered what Guo Yuqing had said.

“Was it you who saved me last night?”

Song Xizhi, a little shy, replied, “Yes, I just happened to be there.”

Suppressing her crying and wiping the tears from her cheek, Guo Yuyun expressed her gratitude once again.
