Chapter 1024 - 1024 1010 Rescue Longhun

Chapter 1024: Chapter 1010: Rescue Longhun Chapter 1024: Chapter 1010: Rescue Longhun Shi Xueqin’s heart was still very complicated,

But she just couldn’t stand idly by and watch Longhun get into trouble.

At the break of dawn, in the bamboo forest, the fog was thick and wouldn’t disperse for a while.

Shi Xueqin quietly got up and went to the lake, only to find that Meng Xiuluo and Mo Ku had already arrived.

Seeing Shi Xueqin walk over, Meng Xiuluo became agitated again.

Shi Xueqin nodded slightly, talking about today’s situation and where there were more people.

Last night, Mo Ku and Meng Xiuluo had discussed in detail, saying, “At that time, we will start a fire here to draw people over, then we’ll sneak in and rescue them.” He explained the plan in detail.

Shi Xueqin nodded.

They quickly agreed on the plan; in one hour, they were to act. Shi Xueqin then returned to Bamboo Manor.

All around was quiet.

Suddenly, the stables in the east caught fire. That stable had mostly hay, and once it was lit, the flames roared instantly, causing a commotion among the nearby people.

Shi Xueqin saw people continuously heading towards the stable and stopped Ling Li, who was about to rush over, asking, “Senior Brother, what happened?”

“Damn it, it must be some guys being careless and setting the stable on fire.” Ling Li feared the fire would spread and connect with other areas, especially because there was a food warehouse nearby, and such an incident could not be allowed to happen.

“Oh, then we must hurry over.” Saying that, she pretended to want to help.

However, Ling Li said, “Junior Sister, no need for you, we can handle it quickly.” He, along with a dozen others, carried water buckets toward the stables in the east.

Shi Xueqin did not follow.

As expected, the fire alarmed the people inside Bamboo Manor, and although not everyone went to the stable, most were attracted there.

A dove’s coo followed; the people outside the wall used bamboo poles to vault over like throwing embroidered balls, and over thirty individuals entered the manor.

Shi Xueqin was waiting for them; as soon as they arrived, she said, “All right, follow me quickly.” Leading them towards the dungeon, Shi Xueqin took the lead. If they encountered anyone, she would deal with them, and promptly reached the dungeon.

Indeed, there were seven or eight guards at the entrance, but Shi Xueqin had already scoped out the situation with no surprises, and quickly dealt with them all.

Meng Xiuluo followed Shi Xueqin, dashing into the dungeon, the sound of a whip growing clearer.

The big man was still tormenting Longhun, who continued to mock without ceasing.

Suddenly, Shi Xueqin came in with a dozen people, startling the big man, who didn’t understand what was happening. Clearly, they were not from Bamboo Manor, and before the big man could speak, Shi Xueqin had knocked him out.

Seeing Longhun all bloodied, having become emaciated over a month of torment, Meng Xiuluo was still somewhat moved.

Yet Longhun looked at Shi Xueqin; he didn’t know what had happened, but seemed to have guessed.

Shi Xueqin found the keys and tossed them to Meng Xiuluo, who swiftly unlocked Longhun’s shackles. But Longhun was very weak, after being tortured for over ten days, with the Dark Beast extracted from him, it was remarkable he was still alive. He faltered and slumped to the ground.

Mo Ku quickly hoisted him onto his back, urging, “Quick, let’s go.”

Once Longhun was on Mo Ku’s back, Meng Xiuluo covered him with two pieces of clothing.

They left quickly.

The escape was smooth. Even though they encountered some people at the main gate, most were distracted at the stables in the east, busy with the fire, with no idea that the blaze was just a diversion.

Sounds of swords clashing came through.

Ling Li was shocked and didn’t know what had happened when Ma Jun came running, saying, “It’s bad, Longhun has been rescued.”

“How is that possible? What exactly happened? Who rescued Longhun?” Ling Li was befuddled, leading people towards the sound of clashing swords.

“I don’t know either. It was Meng Xiuluo and Mo Ku, and they’ve almost gotten away. It seems like Shi Xueqin led them in,” said Ma Jun.

“What! It’s absolutely impossible,” Ling Li almost couldn’t believe it, nor did he want to accept it.

They ran over, but Meng Xiuluo had already secured the main gate, starting a rearguard action. Indeed, they saw Meng Xiuluo release seven or eight dark figures, which blocked their path like rabid dogs. Smoke billowed, and soon their pets were disposed of. Once the smoke cleared, those men were long gone.

Ling Li, furious and still surprised, pondered why Shi Xueqin had acted thus, but soon he seemed to understand.

Ma Jun exclaimed, “The stables to the east, it must have been their doing. They lit it to lure our people away, without Shi Xueqin as an inside agent, they wouldn’t have been able to get in so easily. And to know that Longhun was in the western dungeon, it’s clear everything was well planned.”

Ling Li was seething with anger, unsure of what to do.

At that moment, seven or eight horses were galloping towards them, and it was none other than Su Zhanze leading a group of men.

Seeing Ling Li holding a sword, with a tense expression, and a few monster corpses lying at the doorstep, Su Zhanze was unsure of what had happened and asked urgently, “What’s going on?”

Ma Jun quickly reported that Longhun had just been rescued.

Longhun exclaimed in astonishment, “How is that possible? How would Mo Ku and the others know that Longhun is in Bamboo Manor?”

Ma Jun explained, “It must have been Shi Xueqin’s doing.”

“What?” Su Zhanze’s expression grew intense as he turned to look at Ling Li, who appeared somewhat embarrassed.

Ma Jun continued, “They had an inside man, Shi Xueqin, who secretly set the stables on fire to draw us away. While our people were distracted at the stables, they sneaked in.”

Agitated, Su Zhanze shouted, “Then where are their people?”

“After releasing dense smoke, they vanished without a trace,” Ma Jun replied, unsure of which direction to follow.

“So why aren’t you pursuing them?” Su Zhanze yelled.

Ma Jun hurriedly led his men to pursue.

Cursing angrily, Su Zhanze lamented the unfortunate timing, “Damn it, why did this have to happen now?” He had rushed back thinking he would deal with Longhun and return to the Immortal City Sect, not anticipating such an event.

Ling Li felt extremely embarrassed.

Su Zhanze then barked, “Hey, stop staring and hurry up to put out the fire! Do you really want to watch Bamboo Manor burn to the ground?!” Regardless of the situation, Ling Li owed his life to Su Zhanze, for without her, he would have succumbed to demonic possession.

Ling Li hurried into the stable to extinguish the raging fire.

Frustrated that Longhun escaped before he could absorb his power, Su Zhanze was nonetheless consoled by the fact that they had managed to extract the Dark Beast from his body, a small consolation prize.

Mo Ku and Meng Xiuluo had their plan well-prepared. Without wasting any time, they returned to Yingfeng Inn, where the horse car was already waiting. Boarding it, they left the town immediately.

Longhun, barely clinging to life after having some water to recuperate, immediately asked, “Was it Shi Xueqin who saved me?”

Sitting beside him, Mo Ku confirmed, “Yes, it was her. She guessed that you were in Ling Li’s possession, helped us locate Ling Li and confirmed that you were indeed at Bamboo Manor. It was also thanks to her that we infiltrated, otherwise it wouldn’t have been so easy.”

“And where is she?”

Turning around, Meng Xiuluo realized Shi Xueqin hadn’t followed them. She had quietly left after helping them bring Longhun to the town. After calling out a few times with no response, he said, “She’s gone.”

Longhun was at a loss for words.

Mo Ku mentioned, “I saw Su Zhanze just now; we shouldn’t linger here too long. It’s best we leave immediately.”

Longhun gave a cold laugh, feeling the strangeness of his luck, as if defying fate. Had he not escaped, and Su Zhanze had returned to Bamboo Manor, death would have been the only path left to him. With such a narrow escape, how could he feel anything but fortuitous, as if living a dream?

Mo Ku added, “Without Shi Xueqin, we would’ve never known you were captured by Ling Li.”

The horse car slowly left the town, devoid of any lingering attachment, as everything fell naturally into place.

Mo Ku knew that having removed the Dark Beast, and with Longhun’s injuries so grave, they definitely needed a place to rest, something that he and Meng Xiuluo had already arranged.

Shi Xueqin had saved Longhun, but she didn’t know how to face him after. Being with him was an impossibility; it would be unfilial to her father. Thus, she chose to leave, though she wasn’t sure where she should go, now unable to return to Ling Li.

On Sacred Spirit Island, three days had passed since she parted ways with Nangong Yan. Wandering aimlessly through the streets, the rumors she heard held no substance. How could she possibly find any valuable information on these streets?

After much thought, the only person she knew was Shao Hengjiang, who, although under the alias Qian Jiang, was known to her by his true identity.

One day, the Black Demonic Spirit complained, “I just asked you to summon people from the Wastelands. How do we expect to seize the Sacred Spirit Stone with just the three of us?”

Ye Chen had no desire to acquire the Sacred Spirit Stone; he only wanted to borrow it for a while to accomplish his goal, after which he would return it to its owner.

The Red Demonic Spirit, growing anxious as the day of the twenty-first drew closer, said, “That’s right, we stand no chance of getting our hands on the Sacred Spirit Stone this way. Take Shao Hengjiang that night; we couldn’t handle him, and I heard that here in the South Sea, Qiandu Xiang is even more formidable than Shao Hengjiang, not to mention the numerous experts at his command. So forget about daydreaming.”

With a cold laugh, the Black Demonic Spirit said, “Dreaming indeed, it’s virtually impossible to succeed. Send a quick message back; let the New City Sect bring over a couple of boatloads of people. Maybe then we’ll stand a chance. There’s less and less time.”

Doubtful, the Red Demonic Spirit proposed, “Can’t we find someone to cooperate with?”

After considering the suggestion, the Black Demonic Spirit asked with a puzzled look, “Cooperate?”

Explaining, the Red Demonic Spirit said, “Think about it. What do we want the Spiritual Stone for? It’s just to regain our own bodies and destroy the ring that Ye Chen is carrying. We don’t actually want to possess the Sacred Spirit Stone.”

“Ha, who would cooperate with you? How can you make them believe you, based on just one person?”
