Chapter 244: Chapter 244: Group Hunting the Giant Python (Four Updates, Please Subscribe)
The owner of the Genetic Store pulled out a contract, letting Yang Xiao press his handprint on it.
Yang Xiao took out a Black Crystal Card, which contained over 70,000 Crystal Coins he obtained in the desert today, and promptly transferred exactly 70,000 to the owner as a down payment.
It was agreed that Yang Xiao would visit the Genetic Store every night thereafter, handing over the Crystal Coins he earned from hunting monsters each day to the owner until he had paid off the total of 830,000 Crystal Coins.
The owner then taught Yang Xiao how to use the Space Ring, wearing it on his finger and using his own consciousness to control the placement and retrieval of items.
The owner patiently explained twice. Yang Xiao placed his Golden Eagle Bow on the counter, wore the ring on the index finger of his left hand, touched the value with his right hand, and activated his Divine Sense. Suddenly, the approximately 80-centimeter-long Golden Eagle Bow turned into a stream of light and entered the ring.
Yang Xiao then probed the space inside the ring with his Divine Sense. The ring had thirty partitions, and the Golden Eagle Bow was lying in one of them.
Yang Xiao touched the ring again, ran his Divine Sense, and the Golden Eagle Bow turned into a stream of light, flying directly out from the space and landed in Yang Xiao’s hands.
"Hehe, truly magical! I’ve only read about storage items like space rings and space bags in fantasy novels before. I never expected that such things actually existed and that I could even use them myself. It’s just like a dream."
Yang Xiao muttered to himself.
Suddenly, Deng Xiao slapped his head and exclaimed:
"Not good."
Everyone was startled and looked at Deng Xiao.
With an urgent expression, Deng Xiao said:
"These space rings are so expensive, everyone actually wants one, but just can’t afford it. Now that we’ve bought a space ring, if we are eyed by greedy people when we leave the Genetic Store, and they covertly rob us of our ring, what do we do? We might not even be able to save our lives."
Hearing this, everyone felt this made sense and all looked towards the store owner.
The owner laughed and said:
"This ring, being so costly, naturally has a theft-protection feature. When I put the ring on your finger earlier, the Space Ring had already set your unique identity as the ring’s owner. Unless you allow a transfer and come to our Genetic Store to unlock the ownership, anyone who has your ring wouldn’t be able to even open it."
"Is there such an operation?"
"Rest assured, I will publish this message on the information wall of the Genetic Store right away, assuring that no one will rob your ring, and even if they did, it would be useless. We run our business on credibility, a stolen space ring definitely cannot get identity authentication, without the original owner’s transfer confirmation, we ourselves couldn’t solve this issue either."
After hearing this, Yang Xiao and the others were relieved.
Huang Wen immediately urged the owner to quickly publish this information on the information wall outside the Genetic Store.
As expected, people outside immediately got the news. Everyone still highly regarded the authority of the Genetic Store. Those with malintent immediately dispelled their evil thoughts, not willing to provoke trouble. Moreover, Yang Xiao, along with six people and two eagles were not easy to mess with; especially the two Giant Eagles, which were above Enhanced Gene Level raptors, could hardly be dealt with by ordinary people.
The night passed without incident. The next day, Yang Xiao and his group went out to hunt monsters. For three consecutive days, each day they managed to obtain weapons and equipment along with Genetic Balls, selling them for about 70,000 Crystal Coins each day. Over three days, they paid back 210,000 Crystal Coins, including the 70,000 from the first day, totaling 280,000 paid to the owner.
Now, Yang Xiao would hunt for about half a day then use the Transmission Array to return to Nanmu City with the ring, dropping the monster corpses near the snow-covered plaza.
Xu Nanqiang had specifically instructed the logistics team to properly store any monster corpses brought over by the boss, not to be randomly used for food.
During these four days, Yang Xiao also consumed quite some monster meat. However, his Genetic Evolution was somewhat slow, only increasing 2 attributes, both added to Agility.
Yang Xiao’s current stats: Strength 33, Agility 38, Defense 33, Wisdom 30.
On the evening of the fourth day, Yang Xiao sat on the desert sand near the Genetic Store, eating a sandworm. The two Giant Eagles hovered around Yang Xiao, begging for sandworm meat, and he occasionally cut a piece and threw it to the eagles.
Yang Xiao even noticed that these two Giant Eagles, since following him into the desert, had seen an increased rate in evolution, especially the smaller Giant Eagle, which had evolved quicker and its Combat Power had significantly increased compared to before, incomparable to its previous state.
Huang Wen and the other girls were not used to eating raw food, and even if they ate it, they couldn’t absorb the energy from the Mutant Monsters and promote their own Genetic Evolution like Yang Xiao did.
They would go to the nearby woods every day to chop some branches and come back to make a bonfire to roast meat.
Xu Nanqiang had specifically made some steamed buns and pancakes for them to roast over the fire.
A team of people came from a distant part of the desert; they were a new group from Wentian City who had been hunting Mutant Monsters in the middle of the desert for the past few days.
The leader was a tall, thin young man, with a group of eight, comprising five men and three women.
After visiting the Genetic Store and finishing their transactions, they walked into the crowd resting and the thin young man loudly said:
"We found an Enhanced Gene Advanced level Giant Python in a desert pond. Is anyone interested? Tomorrow, we’ll form a group to surround and attack this Giant Python. Archers and long-range Elemental Mages are prioritized. We require at least an Enhanced Gene Primary Level, preferably Intermediate. The loot will be distributed based on individual contribution or by drawing lots."
A Giant Python at the Enhanced Gene Advanced Stage, its flesh itself was a rare Evolution resource, and pythons of such level often dropped good Weapons and Equipment or Skill Books.
If distributed based on merit, ordinary people might not be interested.
Most of these people were at the Enhanced Gene Primary Level, with only a third at Intermediate. To deal with such a python, without dozens of people, it was simply not feasible, and the loot divided among them would not amount to much.
If allocated by drawing lots, however, the outcome would be different, with luck possibly drawing Magic Weapons, Equipment, Skill Books, or Genetic Balls, and even the python’s corpse.
Such a method of allocation by drawing lots had great appeal for players forming temporary teams to complete missions outdoors.
Someone said:
"Forget distribution based on contribution; we are interested if it’s by drawing lots."
"Yes, to kill this advanced stage Giant Python, at least forty or fifty people would need to go. We would all need to attack together to kill it. With so many people, distribution by merits isn’t interesting."
The tall, thin young man smiled and said:
"Let me introduce myself. I am Ding Gao from the Cloud Sea Academy in Wentian City. Our team of eight includes three at the Intermediate Enhanced Gene level and five at the Primary level.
This desert pond was discovered by us in the wilderness, so, as the team leader, I request to get one third of the python’s corpse, specifically the head,
The remaining two-thirds can be divided into ten parts for distribution by drawing lots, along with any burst Genetic Balls, Weapons, Equipment, and Skill Books.
If someone wins an item through the drawing, they can’t participate in subsequent distributions; this rule applies to everyone. If everyone agrees, we’ll form the team, and those willing can come here to sign up."
Ding Gao’s rule was seen as fair, after a brief exchange, immediately over a dozen people stepped forward to sign up.
Yang Xiao was somewhat tempted; he had never ventured into the middle of the desert, having always hunted monsters at the edges, so he wanted to follow the large troop to take a look.
Why not mix in and see if he might get lucky in the draw?
Yang Xiao stood up, patting the sand off his body.
Beside him, Huang Wen said:
"Yang Xiao, they only want people above Enhanced Gene levels; we don’t qualify."
"Who says we don’t qualify?"
Yang Xiao laughed, pointing to the two Giant Eagles nearby.
