A streak of firelight, like a firework, burst forth from the depths of the Original Forest. After the explosion, it formed a blood-red wolf’s head in the high sky. When the Powerful Wolf, the Sky Wolf, and the Fierce Wolf, who were standing on the side, saw the blood-red wolf’s head in mid-air, they all frowned.

At this moment, Ye Tianchen, Qing Hu, and Fei Bao were engaged in fierce battles with the Fierce Wolf, the Blood Wolf, and the Mad Wolf respectively. The strengths of each fighter were closely matched, and even if one person was slightly stronger, defeating their opponent in the blink of an eye was an impossibility. Thus, the combat among them soon reached an explosive state. The entire clearing, within a radius of a kilometer, had become a battlefield of ruins and broken walls, and even the surrounding tracts of forest had been leveled to the ground.

Clang!

Ye Tianchen pushed the Fierce Wolf back with a sword thrust and immediately charged forward, his right hand gripping the hilt of the Taie Sword tightly. He infused his powerful Emperor-level superpower into the sword, unleashing a violent sword shadow several zhang in length that slashed down towards the Fierce Wolf.

The Fierce Wolf frowned. He was a figure with some weight within the Demon Mercenary Seven Wolves, aside from the Demon Wolf, and at certain critical moments, the others were still expected to follow his command. As such, the strength of the Fierce Wolf was indeed slightly superior. He hadn’t expected that Ye Tianchen, this young Chinese man, would be so powerful, especially with the sword in his hand having such a formidable might. Numerous times, it had almost struck him, and his own Soul Stealing Great Saber, no ordinary weapon and one that could shatter anything, could not cut through Ye Tianchen’s Taie Sword. This shocked the Fierce Wolf.

On the other hand, Fei Bao and the Mad Wolf were still brawling with their bare hands, their fistfight was no less intense or ferocious than melee with weapons, if not more so. Both men’s fists shimmered with light, their Inner Strength formidable and overwhelming. The powerful energy radiated outward, giving a chilling sensation as if a single punch could shatter bone and scatter ash.

Fei Bao and the Mad Wolf, both showing various degrees of injuries, paid them no heed. This was combat where life and death hung in the balance. Injuries and disabilities were minor concerns; staying alive and defeating the opponent was the only victory. They both leaped hundreds of meters into the air, engaging in close-quarters fisticuffs. Their punch speed was so fast it was impossible for ordinary people to see clearly. They fought from the air to the ground and from the ground back into the air, each strike aimed at vital points, with every missed punch causing a massive explosion, a testament to the tremendous power in their fists—unimaginable force.

Meanwhile, Qing Hu was covered in cuts. Having already fought fiercely against the Fierce Wolf and expended too much strength, and now battling the Blood Wolf, it was quite an accomplishment that he’d managed to hold out till now. The Blood Wolf saw this as a disgrace and continued waving his Shadow Dual Blades fiercely, a flurry of blade shadows enveloping Qing Hu with intent to tear him to shreds.

Qing Hu turned pale, his wounds numerous. Both in terms of combat power and speed, he had diminished too much. Facing the Blood Wolf, who was at his Peak Combat Power, holding out for so long was not easy. Now, against the Blood Wolf’s full force of blade shadows, which even sliced the air with terrifying ferocity, Qing Hu felt somewhat helpless. Only now did he recall the ominous premonition he had before entering the Original Forest, that sense of death that is so accurate for a master. A bitter smile appeared on the corner of his mouth; he hadn’t expected that he, Qing Hu, after fighting for a lifetime, would die here today.

Whoosh!

Such thoughts did not mean that Qing Hu had given up the fight. For a strong person like him, even at the point of being shattered to pieces, he would not bow and admit defeat, nor would he ever lose his will to fight. The most frightening thing for a person is not failure, but the loss of willpower. A person who loses his will can never achieve success, and victory would never be his.

Qing Hu’s military saber flew out from his hand, aimed at the Blood Wolf, while he quickly retreated, looking for a way to continue fighting and holding his own against the Blood Wolf. In the process of retreating, Qing Hu glanced at Ye Tianchen and Fei Bao, who were not far away, locked in intense battle. The members of the Demon Mercenary Seven Wolves were all extremely powerful, truly living up to their reputation as freakish mercenaries.

Boom!

Unfortunately, Qing Hu had barely retreated ten meters when his hastily thrown military saber, before it could even reach the Blood Wolf, was torn to shreds by the flurry of blade shadows produced by the Blood Wolf’s Shadow Dual Blades dance.

"Shadow Flow!"

The Blood Wolf roared, his left and right hands each clutching a blade in a cross shape. With a swoosh, he unleashed a massive shadow of blades, sweeping towards Qing Hu like a miniature tornado.

Where the tornado of blade shadows passed, the ground itself bore craters about half a meter deep, let alone the nearby trees and rubble -- all were torn apart. This was one of the Blood Wolf’s lethal moves, extremely fierce, and with just this move, he had slain countless experts.

Qing Hu dared not attempt to block it directly; even his specially made military saber had been destroyed. If he tried to meet force with force in his current state, it would be suicide. He could only keep retreating, but the sweeping tornado of blade shadows was incredibly fast, and the Blood Wolf, wielding his Shadow Dual Blades, also charged at him, vowing to cut down Qing Hu in one strike.

Crack!

As Qing Hu rapidly retreated, he leaned against a large tree that would take an adult to fully embrace. Qing Hu spun around, and with one palm strike, he broke the large tree, hurling it towards the advancing tornado of blade shadows.

Boom-thump!

A deafening boom shook the heavens, and a great tree was pulverized by the tornado sword shadows, blocking their path momentarily. Blood Wolf, however, had already leapt into the sky, his dual blades slashing towards Qing Hu’s head with the speed of lightning—too swift to dodge. Qing Hu could only watch helplessly as the Shadow Dual Blades bore down on his skull, his premonition proving accurate. It seemed today truly would be his end.

Clang!

In the nick of time, when Qing Hu heard the noise, he knew he had been saved. What he hadn’t expected was that the person blocking for him would be Ye Tianchen. Ye Tianchen had been locked in fierce battle with Fierce Wolf, unable to finish him off momentarily, mostly because the Soul Stealing Great Saber in Fierce Wolf’s hands could actually withstand the formidable strength of the Xuanyuan Sword. At a critical moment when Tianchen and Fierce Wolf were contending in strength, Tianchen caught a glimpse of Qing Hu in great peril. Forcing Fierce Wolf back, he pushed his Divine Movement Skill to the limit, reaching Qing Hu in the blink of an eye. Planting his left palm on the ground, he raised a thick wall of earth to temporarily block Fierce Wolf, while intercepting Blood Wolf’s Shadow Dual Blades with his sword in one fluid motion, showcasing his extraordinary strength.

"You’d actually save me?" Qing Hu asked, not expecting such an act.

"I’m not saving you. I want you to see how I’m going to kill these people," Ye Tianchen said indifferently.

Indeed, Ye Tianchen had saved Qing Hu for two reasons: firstly, they were both Chinese, and he could not bear to watch a compatriot die at the hands of the Seven Wolves, a Demon Mercenary group, and he also had great respect for Qing Hu’s strength. Secondly, Ye Tianchen knew Qing Hu looked down on him. Ever since he arrived at the Heavenly Gang War General’s headquarters, he had sensed Qing Hu’s disdainful gaze. Tianchen was not one to admit defeat easily. The more you looked down on him, the more determined he became to prove his worth.

"You better worry about your own life first!"

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!

Three more figures charged down, not other members this time, but Powerful Wolf, Sky Wolf, and Mad Wolf, who attacked together, aiming at Ye Tianchen and Qing Hu with a meteor hammer, iron cudgel, and iron spike and chain. Tianchen furrowed his brows, well aware of the fierceness of the Demon Mercenaries’ Seven Wolves. The fierce battle with Fierce Wolf was proof enough of their abnormal strength. Now, with the three Powerful Wolves joining forces, the situation was decidedly grim.

Boom!

Ye Tianchen gripped the Taie Sword with both hands, unleashing the full force of the Peak of Emperor-level Superpower Realm, and delivered a single strike, creating a massive sword shadow that seemed to cleave half of the Heavenly Capital, slashing towards the three Powerful Wolves.

Thud, thud, thud.

Powerful Wolf, Sky Wolf, and Mad Wolf each wielded their weapons with immense power, shattering Ye Tianchen’s sword shadow and continuing their relentless dive to kill both Qing Hu and Ye Tianchen.

Thump, thump, thump.

However, just as Sky Wolf, Powerful Wolf, and Mad Wolf had shattered the sword shadow, an imposing figure burst forth from behind Ye Tianchen and Qing Hu, a man emanating sheer dominance performed a soaring triple kick, sending all three wolves flying away.

"Soaring triple kick? Man Tian..." Qing Hu couldn’t help but blurt out.

"Qing Hu, fall back. Ye Tianchen, you join me in killing these six men," Man Tian ordered in his gruff voice.

"Be careful, Man Tian. They’re the Demon Mercenaries’ Seven Wolves," Qing Hu warned.

"I don’t care if they’re wolves or dogs, today they’re all going to leave their lives here!" Man Tian said cooly.

"That’s the spirit, I admire that kind of domineering in a man," Ye Tianchen chuckled with a hint of admiration.

Man Tian glanced at Ye Tianchen, taken aback by his unexpected strength. This was indeed the greatest trouble the Heavenly Gang War Generals had ever faced in their history. Realizing that more than a dozen of his fellow Generals had already died, as the team captain he could not shirk responsibility. The only thing left to do was to kill the Demon Mercenaries’ Seven Wolves to avenge his fallen comrades.

"Ye Tianchen, I acknowledge your strength, but now’s not the time to fool around. Your disdain for the Heavenly Gang War Generals will be settled later," he said, implying a debt yet to be reconciled. (To be continued.
