Chapter 506: Chapter 505: Seeking Food from a Big Shot

Yang Yi came because Ye Tianchen had called him on the way, realizing what Su Feifei had said—that Li Jian and Yang Yi were figures of the same caliber. Ye Tianchen thought that since he was idle anyway, it wouldn’t matter much. If Yang Yi knew that Ye Tianchen summoned him with this in mind, he would be furious.

"As long as Xin is fine, we can negotiate this matter. But if anything happens to Xin, I will definitely destroy the Ye family!" Li Jian said irritably.

"As long as you keep your grandson from bothering me and don’t touch anyone from the Ye family, I can ignore his existence. But if anyone dares to touch a hair on the Ye family’s head, I’ll kill them, even if it’s the Heavenly King Laozi!" Ye Tianchen was just as domineering in his response.

"You..."

"You..."

Li Jian was so angered by Ye Tianchen that he was lost for words. The young man’s boldness and daring really made him feel overwhelmed. Moreover, Ye Tianchen truly had the strength to back it up, and with a temper as fiery as his own, he did as he said. On careful thought, Li Jian realized he had truly met his match.

"Alright, Tianchen, enough. I believe Brother Li will be sensible. He has only one grandson, the sole bloodline of the Li family. You need to understand his feelings. Just wake Li Xin up already!" Yang Yi glanced at Ye Tianchen as he spoke.

"What about it, Elder Li? Have you thought it through?" Ye Tianchen asked indifferently.

"You... Okay, fine!" Li Jian glanced at his unconscious grandson Li Xin, genuinely worried for his safety, and had to compromise.

"Brother Li has agreed, what are you waiting for, lad?" Yang Yi chided Ye Tianchen on the spot.

Yang Yi was here essentially as a mediator. Li Jian, a man of fiery temperament who had battled through life and death on the front lines, was no longer fazed by such things. Even with a gun to his head, Li Jian wouldn’t flinch. His only concern now was safeguarding his grandson, Li Xin, so that the Li family’s sole bloodline wouldn’t be lost. If anything untoward happened to Li Xin, Li Jian felt he would have no face to meet his ancestors even in death.

And Ye Tianchen? Fearless of heaven and earth, he recognized only logic, not people. This was well-known. He would even haggle in front of the highest leader. Wasn’t that formidable? Anyway, this guy was undisciplined and unruly; military regulations and laws were useless on him.

Ye Tianchen glanced at Li Jian and couldn’t help but smile inwardly, thinking: No use throwing a tantrum in front of me, old man. If it weren’t for your service to the country and the people, I would have killed your grandson Li Xin a long time ago!

After thinking for a moment, Ye Tianchen didn’t want to carry out an act of extermination. Aside from his temper, Li Jian had indeed done a lot for the country and its people. Now in his seventies and still in position, although he rarely appeared in public, he still did much behind the scenes. On the phone, Yang Yi had found out that Ye Tianchen was actually going against Li Jian. He immediately issued a strict order for Ye Tianchen not to lay a hand on Li Jian, who was an old revolutionary. It was essential to maintain at least basic respect for his lifetime of service to the country and its citizens. After hanging up, Yang Yi hurried over, inwardly cursing Ye Tianchen for picking a fight with Li Jian—wasn’t that asking for trouble?

Li Jian, Yang Yi, and Wang Feng watched as Ye Tianchen walked over to the unconscious Li Xin. He extended his middle and index fingers of his right hand, and a wisp of superpower emerged. With a light touch on Li Xin’s neck, an issue that had baffled top medical experts in the country was resolved in an instant. Li Xin immediately opened his eyes and regained consciousness.

"Damn it, I want your life!"

As soon as Li Xin woke up and saw Ye Tianchen, he lunged at him. Before Ye Tianchen could respond, Li Xin had already received three slaps. These were not from just anyone—they were from his own grandfather, Li Jian.

"Get out of my sight!" Li Jian shouted at Li Xin.

Receiving three consecutive slaps from his grandfather left Li Xin quite dazed. He had never expected his grandfather to hit him; he’d been doted on his whole life, and even when he caused trouble, his grandfather would always take his side and quickly smooth things over. What was happening today?

"Grandfather, it’s this guy... He’s the one who beat me and killed all four of the Silver Demon brothers!" Li Xin, still not understanding the situation, glared at Ye Tianchen with clenched teeth.

Hearing Li Xin’s words, Li Jian was startled. He knew the strength of the Silver Demon brothers and never thought they would all fall to Ye Tianchen. This twenty-year-old youth was inscrutable. Li Jian now felt somewhat relieved that his grandson hadn’t been killed. Otherwise, what would he do? Send a large force to destroy the Ye family? That hardly seemed realistic.

"Get out, and from today onward, you’re not to step foot outside the Li family without my permission," Li Jian barked fiercely at Li Xin.

"Grandfather..."

"Take this unfilial son out," commanded Li Jian, not giving Li Xin the chance to speak. He had his two security guards escort Li Xin out of the office.

Li Xin was completely bewildered, unsure of what had happened. His grandfather, who had always doted on him, surprisingly stood by Ye Tianchen’s side today. Even if it were his own fault and he was the instigator, his grandfather had never once laid a hand on him. Li Xin, who had become brazen to a certain degree, still failed to grasp the seriousness of the situation. If Fan Ruoxuan hadn’t knocked him out with a club, Ye Tianchen might have killed him by now. Ye Tianchen showed no mercy to scum or adversaries that came knocking.

At this moment, Li Jian suddenly understood what Ye Tianchen meant. If he didn’t tighten the reins on Li Xin, his grandson was bound to cause even greater troubles. This time Ye Tianchen had spared him, but next time he might fall at the hands of others. He himself was already one foot in the grave. While he could protect Li Xin for the time being, once he passed away, who would protect his grandson? The only method was strict discipline, to make Li Xin sensible and to prevent him from being idle and presumptuous.

"Elder Li, I’ve offended you today. Goodbye!"

Ye Tianchen looked at Li Jian, knowing that he had come to an understanding. Smiling as he spoke, he gave Li Jian a military salute and then turned to leave his office.

Once out of the military-political villa building, Yang Yi and Ye Tianchen walked together in silence. Only when Ye Tianchen got into Yang Yi’s official military vehicle did he yawn and ask, "Elder Yang, got anything to eat in the car?"

Hearing Ye Tianchen’s words, Yang Yi almost couldn’t believe his ears, and even the driver, a strong soldier, broke out in a cold sweat. Only Ye Tianchen would dare ask for food from a military-political bigwig like this, and in such circumstances—after having just had a huge row with one of the nation’s top and most temperamental leaders, Li Xin. Now he even had the leisure to look for something to eat.

"No. Boy, did you actually just butt heads with Li Jian? Do you realize the trouble this could cause?" asked Yang Yi irritably.

"That’s not my problem, though. It was his grandson who provoked me first. I didn’t kill Li Xin; Li Jian should be grateful!" Ye Tianchen replied indifferently.

Yang Yi looked at Ye Tianchen and couldn’t help but show a trace of a smile on his stern face, shaking his head as he said, "I didn’t expect you’d be able to stop even Li Jian’s fiery temper. That’s quite the feat for you, kid."

"I just happen to be a bit more handsome," Ye Tianchen quipped nonsensically.

"I don’t have time for your nonsense. I’m here because someone else wants to meet you," Yang Yi said.

"Who? I’m quite busy. If it’s somebody unimportant, let’s skip it," Ye Tianchen cautiously said, thinking Yang Yi had another mission for him.

"Ling Yuxun," Yang Yi stated matter-of-factly.

Knowing about the relationship between Ling Yuxun and Ye Tianchen, Yang Yi understood that mentioning Ling Yuxun meant there was no need to say much more. Although Ye Tianchen was unreliable, he wasn’t heartless or ungrateful, especially towards Ling Yuxun, the girl with whom he had grown up since childhood. He couldn’t easily let go of matters concerning Ling Yuxun, or else he wouldn’t have rushed to kill an expert from the Northern Star One-Blade Sect and risk his life in the fierce battle with Songben Xiajian.

"Yuxun? What’s happened to her? Aren’t you guys protecting her?" Ye Tianchen hurriedly inquired.

"Ling Yuxun and Ling Yue are certainly safe, but Ling Yuxun wants to see you. We daren’t let her come out to find you, given that we don’t know if Capital City still harbors Northern Star One-Blade Sect or American assassins. So, I’m here to inform you," said Yang Yi.

"Then let’s go," Ye Tianchen said, looking at Yang Yi.

"Where to?" Yang Yi pretended to be clueless.

"To see Yuxun, of course!" Ye Tianchen said, exasperated.

Yang Yi smiled faintly and then instructed the driver to head off. As expected, Ye Tianchen was indeed very concerned about Ling Yuxun’s affairs. The Ling family’s plan to relocate to Huaxia for business development was a significant injection into Huaxia’s economy, which the national leaders highly valued. The Ling family was the number one commercial Chinese family abroad, and the economic chain they could drive was undoubtedly vast.

This was why America shamelessly threatened and tempted to prevent the Ling family from moving back to Huaxia for development. Though Huaxia valued the Ling family, they couldn’t afford to clash openly with America over one family; they could only offer covert assistance. The best helper for this assistance turned out to be Ye Tianchen.

Being unaffiliated with any organization and indisciplined, not belonging to the military, and not representing national action made it difficult to assign tasks to Ye Tianchen. If the Ling family needed anything, it would be more effective for Ling Yuxun, his childhood friend, to ask Ye Tianchen than for them to waste time and saliva talking. So, what urgent matter could Ling Yuxun have that required seeing Ye Tianchen so suddenly? (To be continued.
