Chapter 229: Chapter 228: No More Tolerance Needed
If Uncle Wang hadn’t appeared, Ye Tianchen would have definitely taken action to discipline these few watchmen of the Luo family. It was clear that these bodyguards looked down on people disdainfully. Furthermore, his own mother used to be the beloved daughter of the Luo family, and now they couldn’t even enter the Luo family’s gate, which was incredibly ironic. Tianchen thought he might let it go, but now he wouldn’t allow his parents and younger sister to suffer any grievances, especially from these evil individuals.
Luckily Uncle Wang appeared just in time and brought Luo Yan and Ye Tianchen into the Luo family’s mansion. Otherwise, he felt that a fight was unavoidable, to be precise, Ye Tianchen beating someone up.
"Miss, it’s been many years since you’ve come back. Take a look around; the setting hasn’t changed much!" Uncle Wang warmly smiled as he spoke to Luo Yan.
Luo Yan looked around. It had been twenty years since she had last visited the Luo family. This place had once been her home, her first home, and naturally, her feelings were profound. She felt a familiar connection to everything here, especially the small pavilion not far away, which made Luo Yan pause in surprise.
Within the entirety of the Luo family’s mansion, one could say it was grand in scale with many modern technological buildings. Even the old-fashioned residences of the Capital City surrounded by many modern structures, the distinctively visible small pavilion, constructed entirely of stone and tiles, appeared somewhat worn compared to the splendid surrounding buildings but was still preserved, presumably holding some deep significance.
"This pavilion..." Luo Yan couldn’t help but speak out.
"Madam insisted on keeping it. She used to say that when she was young, Miss would often bring her here to play. Since you were gone from the Luo family, she would come here every day to sit and recall what Miss was like as a child, as a way to keep her memory alive!" Uncle Wang said, also getting somewhat emotional.
Luo Yan couldn’t help but start crying. After her mother passed away, her father became the head of the Luo family and was extremely busy every day, hardly having time for her. Only her grandmother took care of her, cared for her, and loved her.
Standing to the side, Ye Tianchen was also moved. Hearing Uncle Wang’s words, though he had never met his supposed grandmother, he could imagine that she was a very kind and loving old woman, who deeply valued family relationships. Such people live genuinely and deserve respect.
"Mom, let’s go quickly, let’s go see Grandma!" Ye Tianchen, seeing his mother Luo Yan and Uncle Wang wiping her tears with her back to them, couldn’t help but quietly remind her.
"Yes!" Luo Yan nodded, wiping the tears from the corner of her eye, and followed closely behind Uncle Wang, quickly heading towards where her grandmother lived.
Luo Yan looked at Uncle Wang walking ahead, limping slightly with his right foot, and couldn’t help feeling empathy for the old man. It had been twenty years since they had parted. When she was at the Luo family, Uncle Wang had been very kind to her, even secretly letting her out so she could go on dates with Ye Hong, Ye Tianchen’s father, also a very kind old man.
"Uncle Wang, this is my son Tianchen..." Luo Yan introduced with a smile.
"Young master is truly talented! Seeing young master is just like seeing the Miss; he will surely lead a blessed life!" Uncle Wang looked at Ye Tianchen, smiling joyfully as he spoke.
"Grandpa Wang, hello!" Ye Tianchen also greeted him politely with a nod.
"Oh no, oh no, young master, just call me Uncle Wang. That’s how everyone calls me!" Uncle Wang quickly responded with surprise.
Ye Tianchen could feel that although Uncle Wang, being an employee of the Luo family, might appear imposing before others as the Luo family’s Grand Steward, he probably suffered a lot in front of the family’s direct relatives. On the way here, Ye Tianchen had heard his mother mention the people of the Luo family and knew that this group was quite haughty. If it were not for the family’s ancestral teachings to live modestly and act grandly, these descendants would have probably become unmanageable long ago.
"Uncle Wang, what happened to your right leg?" Luo Yan couldn’t help but ask with concern.
"Oh, it’s nothing, nothing... I just fell carelessly, I’m old, not so useful anymore, haha!" Uncle Wang said with a bitter smile, clearly hiding something and not willing to tell Luo Yan.
Seeing that Uncle Wang didn’t want to discuss it further, Luo Yan didn’t press him. Right now, the most important thing was to see her grandmother, uncertain whether the old lady was still waiting for her.
"Miss, we’ve arrived. Ever since you left the Luo family, Madam has moved here to live. She says she prefers the peace and quiet by herself!" Uncle Wang stopped in front of a somewhat old residence, explaining.
As people age, they often cling to the past, unable to part with old things, much like how Madam Luo had always missed Luo Yan, her granddaughter. Now that her children were grown and beyond her control, old age limited her abilities, she hoped only for her granddaughter Luo Yan to live a happy life, and that would be enough.
"Let’s go in!" Luo Yan turned around and looked at her son Ye Tianchen as she spoke.
Just as Luo Yan, Ye Tianchen, and Uncle Wang were about to enter the old-style mansion, an Audi sports car pulled up directly in front of them. A young man in his twenties got out, dressed head-to-toe in designer brands, especially the watch on his right hand, which was worth at least a million and left the ordinary folks speechless.
"Old Man Wang, who are these people? Don’t they know my grandmother is ill and no random people are allowed in?" said the young man, sneering at Ye Tianchen and Luo Yan.
"Young Master Yun, this lady here is Luo Yan, your great aunt, who has rushed back because she heard about Madam’s grave illness," Uncle Wang said with a smile.
Hearing Uncle Wang’s words, Young Master Yun walked over to Luo Yan and Ye Tianchen with an air of arrogance, regarding them with a disdainful gaze. He then put on a bossy air and said playfully, "Luo Yan? I think my mother has mentioned such a person, the one who, according to her generation, had ’died.’ How did she end up back at the Luo’s? Those gatekeepers really let anyone in. Don’t they know how our Luo family hates to be tainted?"
Ye Tianchen frowned and was about to step forward to teach this spoiled brat a lesson. He did not care who this disrespectful man was or what his status was within the Luo family; anyone who dared to bully his mother was as good as dead in his eyes.
"Tianchen... don’t get physical..." Luo Yan quickly stood in front of her son. She didn’t want to make a scene, especially with her mother-in-law severely ill. She just wanted to quickly see her mother-in-law for perhaps the last time. As for the young man yelling in front of her, from Uncle Wang’s words, she gathered he was her younger nephew, her sister’s son—Zhang Yun.
"What are you trying to do? Hit me? You must be tired of living, you little bastard!" Zhang Yun said aggressively, pointing at Ye Tianchen’s nose and yelling.
"Go tell your mother this—the elder Miss Sun of the Luo family is back and let her come and kneel," said Ye Tianchen, knowing his mother would not let him strike, so he scoffed and looked at Zhang Yun.
"You... who do you think you are to speak about my mother like that? Be careful, or you might not leave here alive," Zhang Yun said through gritted teeth, glaring at Ye Tianchen.
Zhang Yun did not expect Ye Tianchen to dare speak about his mother that way, especially not in the Luo family without showing any fear. Initially, knowing this person was Luo Yan, Zhang Yun did not think of her as his great aunt deserving respect, but rather he wanted to humiliate her and, at best, have her thrown out of the Luo family.
Because Zhang Yun’s mother, Luo Qing, who was Luo Yan’s sister, had been selfish, narrow-minded, and disobedient from a young age, always causing trouble using the family’s power. Therefore, many in the family cherished Luo Yan, particularly the grandmother, which made Luo Qing hold a grudge since her childhood, often pranking and taking revenge on Luo Yan. Luo Yan never counted these actions against her since she was the older sister. When she was driven out of the Luo family, it was indeed her sister Luo Qing who had plotted against her, but Luo Yan never held it in her heart.
"Call your mother to come and kneel, or your whole family won’t make it out of the Luo’s alive!" Ye Tianchen said indifferently.
"You..."
Zhang Yun was furious beyond measure. He had always been domineering in the Luo family, and none of his peers, his brothers and sisters, dared to provoke him. Being the head among his cousins since Ye Tianchen was out of the Luo family, and with the extensive power of the Luo family, his grandfather, Ye Tianchen’s grandfather, always abided by the ancestral teachings and strictly disciplined the younger generation. Each generation had its own issues and couldn’t manage everything.
"Get out!" Ye Tianchen suddenly shouted, startling Zhang Yun, who involuntarily stepped back and almost hit the sports car, his face turning red with fury.
"Old Man Wang, I order you now, immediately, to throw this mother and son out of the Luo’s... or I’ll have my mother break your other leg!" Zhang Yun bellowed at Uncle Wang.
Slap!
Enduring no more, Ye Tianchen slapped him hard across the face, sending him flying. He had wanted to strike earlier, but his mother had stopped him, fearing it might affect her visit to see her grandmother. Now, seeing Zhang Yun curse Uncle Wang, who could have been his grandfather, and learning that Uncle Wang’s disability was the work of Zhang Yun’s despicable mother, Ye Tianchen could no longer hold back.
"You... you dare hit me..." Zhang Yun was almost petrified, never having imagined that Ye Tianchen would indeed hit him. After all, he was the young master of the Luo’s, and no one had ever dared to lay a finger on him.
"I advise you to get out, as far as possible. I’ve only hit you now; don’t force me to kill you..." Ye Tianchen was not joking as he coldly stared at Zhang Yun. (To be continued.
