Chapter 954: Chapter 954: The Top-performers Class Got Slapped in the Face (5th update)
After class was over, Landon and the others rushed out, then after a while, they came back, excitement written all over their faces.
"Peter, do you know how Edward Lee did on the test?" Elian Collins asked Peter Brown with a laugh.
Peter Brown replied, "I don’t care how he did, it’s none of my business."
"Ah, won’t you show a little interest?" Max Evans commented dryly.
Moon Smith asked curiously, "What rank did he get?"
Kenzie Armstrong laughed, "Our school didn’t do particularly well this time, not many made it into the Top 50. Edward did, but he didn’t do as well as I did, haha."
Seeing Kenzie’s triumphant expression, Moon exclaimed, "You didn’t actually score higher than him, did you?"
"Of course, did you forget who I am? There’s no way that kid could’ve outscored me."
"Quit bragging, you only barely beat him by one point," Chen Spencer laughed, "You’re a long way off from me."
Seeing their smug faces, Peter knew that although Edward made it into the Top 50, he didn’t do very well, not as well as the seven students he’d tutored himself.
"Peter, this time we really took off!" Daniel Roberts beamed.
Elian added, "We totally smacked the Top-performers Class in the face this time! Not many of them made it into the Top 50, the best of them only made it into the Top 30. Three out of the seven of us completely outdid them, haha."
As they were discussing this, the homeroom teachers of the graduating classes were sitting in the principal’s office.
Nolan Smith sighed as he scanned the room, "Teachers, you know the results. What are your thoughts?"
As soon as the principal asked this, everyone’s gazes turned to Flora Nelson with complex expressions. A poor class scoring so well was unheard of, they couldn’t believe it!
When considering that even the Top-performers Class hadn’t scored as well as the poor class, the homeroom teachers from the Top-performers Class suddenly felt immense pressure.
Christopher Williams hesitated before saying, "The midterm doesn’t really tell much, the real key is the college entrance examination, isn’t it?"
Nolan replied, "What else do we need to make it clear? You’ve seen the results. We have two top-performing classes totalling Ninety students. Now what? You see what your so-called top students, who the school has spent a great deal of resources on, have accomplished? Our top student, Edward Lee, barely made it into the Top 50. The two top-performing classes have only six students in the Top 50. Now, look at Mr. Carter’s class of poor students: eight students made it into the Top 50. Peter Brown’s score surpasses all the students in the county, more than twenty points higher than the second place. If it wasn’t for the students you labeled as poor performers, our school would be too embarrassed to show its face in the county!"
At this, everyone’s face soured further, the principal’s words were a hard blow to their pride.
One of the homeroom teachers then asked, "We all know about those eight students, Peter and the others, they’re usually involved in fights and never study. How did they suddenly start scoring well? Mr. Carter, what’s going on?"
Now, Flora was the talk of the town in the school. Although she did not know the reason, she responded earnestly, "Lately, Peter and the others have been very diligent, attentive in class, and very focused in self-study out of class. Their great strides in progress - this is why they got such good grades."
Upon hearing this, everyone sniffed in disbelief. If only it were that simple.
Nolan then said, "In light of this exam, we should reflect on our shortcomings, and I hope that the Top-performers Class can truly live up to its name. I do not wish to see this happening again during the college entrance examination. You may all leave now."
The homeroom teachers left with sullen faces.
"Flora, hold on a moment."
Nolan had Flora stay back, "Reid, good job!"
Receiving rare praise, Flora happily said, "I will definitely work hard."
"Hmm. Peter has achieved such a high score. If he continues to work hard and maintain this level of performance in the college entrance exam, we surely have a Satellite. The other seven students are not bad either. Do you think we should create a special class for them, bringing in the school’s best teachers to teach them?"
Flora gave a wry smile before saying, "Principal, to be honest, they hardly ever go to class; they mostly follow a self-study routine."
"Oh!"
Nolan remembered this and then asked Flora, "Could it be that they’ve hired private tutors outside of school?"
Shaking her head, Flora said, "I’ve looked into it, that’s not the case. Peter is primarily the one tutoring them."
Peter!
Nolan nodded slightly, his curiosity about Peter piqued.
After a thought, Nolan then said, "Since their self-study method works, there’s no need to disrupt their learning. Just provide them with care and concerns in terms of study and life. We won’t create a separate class."
Flora replied, "I think the current management method is very good. They are like a small study group, helping each other. I believe they will achieve good results. I estimate that next, more students will join their group. Then it won’t be just these eight people."
At this, a smile spread across Nolan’s face, "This exam’s results have made a spectacular splash across the entire county. As long as they maintain this level of performance in their college entrance exams, our school will have at least eight students competing for top universities. That’s great news. Keep up the good work, Reid!"
At this moment, Flora was also very excited. She’d never have thought that her class of poor students would bring such an unexpected surprise.
When she returned to the office, the teachers all started teasing her.
"Mr. Carter, you should treat us all to dinner! You turned the poor class into one that can compete with the Top-performers Class. I’m sure your results have caught the attention of the county’s leaders!"
"Haha, who would’ve thought that those poor students could score so well? The homeroom teachers of the two Top-performers Classes must be under great pressure!
Flora noticed the two homeroom teachers of the Top-performers Classes were not there and asked, "Where are they?"
"Christopher Williams couldn’t save face this time; he’s the homeroom teacher. He always believed that Edward Lee from his class would be number one. Now look how it turned out. I saw his face as he entered the classroom, it was not a happy one," A young teacher who generally didn’t much like Christopher Williams chuckled and shared.
Flora smiled, contemplating if she should ask Peter to help tutor a few more students.
