Chapter 815: Chapter 815: The Direction of Civilization Development
After discussing events on Earth with his family, Raven Walter asked, "I didn’t expect the starlight cannon to be so powerful. Why were we unaffected?"
"You old geezer, are you wishing we were affected?"
"I’m just asking," Raven Walter replied awkwardly.
Gael Evans asked, "Peter, what are your thoughts? Share with us."
"I have an idea. The development of the biochemical civilization is probably inevitable. After all, most people don’t possess spiritual roots, so they can’t cultivate."
Raven Walter said, "Exactly, not only can’t those without spiritual roots cultivate, but even those with spiritual roots - unless their roots are exceptionally good - do not stand a chance at achieving immortality. I personally have never thought about becoming immortal. Cultivation has just extended my lifespan. To be honest, Peter, as long as one is free from diseases, living a few hundred years more, would be pretty much enough."
Peter Brown looked at his father in surprise, not expecting him to have such a viewpoint.
Liza Smith chimed in at this point, "Peter, I know you hope that one day all of us can live forever. But even cultivators can hardly achieve that, right? Your Dad’s right. Even with our best efforts, the chances of us cultivating to the point of immortality are slim. I have a thought now, and you tell me if I’m right."
"Mom, go ahead."
"Peter, developing a biochemical civilization is undoubtedly more feasible for the people on Earth. After all, cultivation requires too many resources, and Earth doesn’t have that many. Your hope for everyone to achieve immortality is correct but unrealistics. On the contrary, a biochemical civilization, if properly developed, wouldn’t it be a good thing for Earthlings? Firstly, biohumans wouldn’t suffer from diseases as most ordinary people do, and they’d have stronger bodies. And at least, they could live beyond a hundred. Isn’t it a good thing to live healthily and further develop in space? Thirdly, if a biochemical civilization is well established, who’s to say humans couldn’t achieve immortality?"
Raven Walter said, "Indeed. With the rise of science, any failing organs could be replaced. Even if all the organs in the body were replaced, the person could still live, unless the brain dies. As long as there’s a method to cultivate Divine Sense, the chances of brain death are not high. So, the biochemical civilization is a great direction. It offers at least hundreds to thousands of years of life extension for people who don’t have a strong chance of becoming immortal. It’s not a bad thing."
Looking at his parents, Peter Brown hadn’t expected that they would think this way.
Liza Smith then said, "Actually, your dad and I have thought about this for a while. We shouldn’t affect your progression. You truly have the potential to be immortal, and perhaps once you achieve it, you might have even more powerful abilities to help us as well. So don’t always think about helping us achieve immortality. You have your own path to follow, just trudge on with confidence and ease."
Gael Evans then added, "Peter, your mom and dad are right. It feels like your affections are tied to Earth at the moment. You’re focusing on whether Earth can progress and be saved, which is detrimental to your own cultivation. You can’t base your life span on Earth. If you can’t elevate your cultivation, your life will still come to end in a century. Then who will look after Earth then? It could still be destroyed. Hence, I believe the biochemical civilization should be promoted, and you need to quicken your cultivation."
"Peter, they’re right. You need to consider these things. Even if you dedicate your entire life to protecting Earth, it wouldn’t be sufficient. If you don’t advance in your cultivation, your life span also comes to an end."
The words of his family rocked Peter, as he hadn’t truly considered this matter. Reflecting on their thoughts, he realised the existence of this situation.
Seeing Peter’s reaction, Raven Walter suggested, "Maybe we should divide the work. Those who can cultivate should do that. Those who can’t will be in charge of promoting the biochemical civilization. Earth is critical. We elders can take care of things on Earth. The technology related to biohumans is not very complex. We could just establish a base here and promote it. If we don’t have any scientists, we go find them. Given our current cultivation status, we should be considered high-level cultivators on Earth and maintaining control shouldn’t be too difficult."
Liza Smith added, "We should volunteer for these tasks, after asking everyone’s opinions. However, I think the children should travel to the Return-to-Earth Star or any other place with better spiritual energy to progress. They should try to keep up with Peter."
Soon, everyone voiced their opinions. The development of the biochemical civilization on Earth would be handled by Raven Walter, Liza Smith, Gael Evans, Aurelia Green, Heidi Jones, Hellen Brown, Caden Greenhill, and Lea Collins. The cultivation inheritance on Earth would be taken care of by Quinn Walker, Rachel Williams, Meredith Harrison, and Skye Harrison. Narcissus Brown would take the Jackson sisters and Smith sisters to the Return-to-Earth Star for development.
Seeing that everyone had already divided the work, Peter Brown stared at them in surprise. He hadn’t expected them to arrange things in such a way for this matter.
"Peter, actually this arrangement doesn’t affect our cultivation. Even though we’re responsible for promoting the Biochemical Civilization, we can still continue our cultivation,"
Seeing Peter’s expression, Heidi Jones chuckled and said.
Peter was surprised that Heidi Jones had voluntarily proposed entering the promotion of the Biochemical Civilization. He asked in confusion, "Don’t you believe in yourself?"
Heidi Jones smiled and said, "Actually, I don’t have many thoughts. Even if I try hard, it’s unlikely that I will become Immortal one day. Besides, you also mentioned that the Cultivation World respects the strong. Can we, with our current level of cultivation, really have a good direction for development in the Cultivation World? I doubt it."
"You can also go to the Return-to-Earth Star for development, right?"
"It’s the same at Return-to-Earth Star. If they could really develop, they wouldn’t run back. So, I hope to develop myself in the direction of becoming a modified human. After all, after modification, for us cultivators, it won’t affect our intelligence and our physical appearance won’t change. By the way, I believe you have researched a lot about this. If you’re worried that I would turn into a monster after modification, just think of some elixirs for me."
Liza Smith nodded and said, "In terms of cultivation, it’s really hard for us to reach the Foundation Establishment stage. If we can become modified humans, we can go to space. That’s a good thing. Peter, people always need to make choices. Not everything can be decided by you. We have settled on this. Heidi is right. If you’re worried, you should do more research on modification techniques."
Peter forced a bitter laugh and said, "Actually, I’ve long had a perfect modification method. We don’t necessarily have to use the genes of Demon Beasts for modification. We can use another type of elixir. After modification, it’s just some gene modification that significantly enhances human potential. There’s no need to worry about turning into beasts and monsters."
Upon hearing this, Narcissus Brown’s eyes lit up. "Peter, I’ve changed my mind. I also want to become a modified human. I won’t go to Return-to-Earth Star."
"You!"
Peter was suddenly speechless.
"Peter, I feel like modified humans are really stronger than cultivators. If the modified humans are stronger than us cultivators, the possibility of developing a cultivation civilization would likely be small," Rachel Williams said with a worried look at Peter.
Peter simply responded with a stern expression, "I’ll decide this. None of you are to undergo the modification before you turn fifty. Only those who haven’t reached the Foundation Establishment can think about modification at fifty."
"Is this a modification civilization, or a biochemical civilization?" Olivia Turner asked.
Peter immediately felt gloomy. They were talking about the Biochemical Civilization, but the topic had turned to the Modification Civilization, which were two completely different civilizations.
Rachel Williams then smiled and said, "Peter, actually, we don’t need to be so clear-cut. I think this will do. Let our parents decide to promote the modification of humans on Earth while we promote the cultivation civilization. Let’s make choices on this matter. First, establish some control over the modified humans to prevent them from causing chaos. Once order is established, it can be relaxed. Let’s keep this matter away from the government and have our Windsor Family promote it."
Peter thought for a moment and said, "Fine, you can start promoting this. I’m going to Return-to-Earth Star to take a look. I’ll bring a few people with me to set up a base there or something."
This matter was quickly decided then.
