Chapter 253: Chapter 253: Bustle in the Provincial City
Upon seeing that Maisy Spencer and Ella Johnson were the ones to pick him up, Peter Brown chuckled, "Worried about me losing your valuables, aren’t you?"
"Good people indeed don’t live long!"
After sizing Peter up and down, Maisy let out a laugh.
The two women knew Peter had been on a killing mission, but they didn’t ask for specifics.
Ella Johnson also joined in the laughter, "Peter, you’re a celebrity now."
"A celebrity?" Peter was genuinely surprised.
Maisy just laughed and said, "You’ll see when you get to the city."
The car was a red vehicle owned by Maisy. Peter couldn’t name the car model, but he knew it was a fantastic car.
As they got into the car, Ella suggested, "Now that you’re famous, I’d advise against going to school. It could be a hassle."
Peter was about to ask, but a glance at a giant billboard displaying a massive portrait of him stopped him.
Seeing Peter’s dumbstruck expression, Ella continued laughing, "See? You are a celebrity. The world feng shui forum is opening, a showdown between top grandmasters. Who will win?"
"This is superstitious. How come it found a place here?" Peter was a little speechless. He knew his opponents wanted to make a fuss, but he hadn’t imagined it would be to this extent, branding feng shui as some sort of feudal superstition.
Maisy added, "We found it strange too, and wanted to ask you."
Both women had been given the Cultivation Technique by Peter, so they know a thing or two. Peter didn’t hide anything and briefly explained the situation.
After hearing Peter’s account, both ladies were astonished. "Are fengshui masters really that awesome?"
After asking, Maisy laughed, "We were in the dark before, now we realize there’s much we didn’t know."
Peter then looked at his picture on the billboard and saw a middle-aged foreign man on the other side. He realized he was being pushed to the spotlight and had to compete.
Seeing the promotional content, Peter asked, "Is the city bustling now?"
"Indeed, although the forum doesn’t start until half a month from now, all the hotels are already fully booked by foreigners."
"People do believe in feng shui to some extent because there’s science in it. But this is the first time for a global top grandmaster showdown, many are curious, including a lot of locals. Your fame has shot up overnight."
Maisy said, "Can you handle it? If you lose, you won’t be able to show your face around here."
Seeing the women’s worries, Peter laughed, "No biggie."
"Not a big deal!"
Peter took out two woven bags from his ring and placed them on the car, "Take your things back. Don’t leave them with me. I need to get back to prepare for the competition. Just drop me off somewhere deserted. Once I bring out my car, I’ll head back to the village. That’s the only place I can get some peace and quiet."
Both women knew what Peter was capable of, so they didn’t say much. They dropped him off in a deserted place.
Peter waved goodbye, and as soon as the women left, an SUV appeared before him.
The moment he got into the car, Henry Martin’s call came in.
"Peter, I’ve heard about your business from the Thompson Family. The Higher-Ups are taking it very seriously. If you need any help, let us know and we’ll do our best."
"Thanks Mr. Prentice, I don’t need much preparation. I guess it’s giving you guys a headache, with so many international guests all of a sudden, your pressure must be great."
"Indeed. Public safety is a headache for us, but some masters are also here, which helps ease our pressure."
Peter knew by ’masters’ Henry meant the cultivators. With them around, he was sure the international cultivators wouldn’t dare to mess around.
Jalen Smith also called to ask if Peter needed any collaboration.
Unsurprisingly, both were representing their families and trying to win Peter over.
"Peter, where are you?" a call from Bowen Walter came in.
"Just got into the city and was about to head back to the village."
"Forget it. You better stay in the city. The Higher-Ups asked me to give you a villa. Come check it out."
A villa?
Peter found it odd.
Bowen let out a bitter laugh, "You’re a celebrity now. This bet is not only about you, but also about our country. Did you know that one hundred years ago, one of our country’s top feng shui cultivators was assassinated? This time if anything happens to you, it will be a big problem. Considering your situation, The Higher-Ups have assigned you a ten-person bodyguard team. You living in a dedicated area makes it easier to protect you."
Peter finally understood what The Higher-Ups were thinking. They were concerned for his safety, which was a way of showing their respect for him.
Peter’s original plan was to avoid being disturbed by foreigners by hiding in the village. But now that he thought about it, he realized that the overseas cultivators probably knew his whereabouts. Even if he went back to the village, he wouldn’t be able to rest. He may as well stay in the city.
Peter also wanted to see what kind of villa they had assigned him.
After arranging with Bowen, Peter drove up to a high-end residential area near the suburbs.
Upon arriving, he was satisfied. The villas were standalone buildings and were all very spacious, especially the one assigned to him. From a feng shui and construction perspective, it was a fantastic house.
Bowen was there to meet him, "How do you like it? We’ve arranged for individuals to patrol and protect the area. It shouldn’t affect your life."
After looking around, Peter nodded, "It’s a nice place. It’s mine from now on?"
Bowen took out a house-purchasing document, "Once you sign it, someone will handle the rest for you. From now on, this place is yours."
Peter grinned. Regardless of who’d arranged it, the villa was his from now on. He glanced through the contract and didn’t find any exceptional clauses, so he signed it.
"Okay, we won’t object to any modifications you want to make." Bowen said, then left to settle the paperwork.
