Chapter 1405: Chapter 1405: Eating a Full Meal is the First Thing_1
The next morning, when Peter Brown woke up, he opened his eyes to see sunlight filtering through the room, with some rays shining directly on him.
As he sat up cross-legged, Peter tried to practice cultivation but was shocked to find that there was not even a trace of Immortal power here.
After a careful observation, Peter confirmed that there really wasn’t any Immortal power around.
What kind of place was this, and how would he manage without Immortal power?
It was the first time Peter began to worry.
If there was no trace of Immortal power here, then it signified that this was not a place for cultivation, and his hope to cultivate was unattainable.
"I’m going out for a bit."
After saying this to Ashley Barnes, who was about to speak, Peter unfolded his figure and dashed towards the mountains behind.
Ashley Barnes had not even gotten a clear look when Peter’s figure had already disappeared.
Reaching the rear mountain and ensuring that there was nobody around, Peter found some stones and laid out a rudimentary Gathering Immortal Formation.
This formation, in fact, was not a very effective one—it could only gather some Immortal power and was generally unused by most people. However, given his current situation, Peter had no other choice as the conditions didn’t allow for a better formation, so he had to make do with this to do some research.
After setting up the formation, Peter dropped a bit of blood into it, and then the formation activated.
But even after sitting cross-legged inside it for quite some time, Peter did not feel a hint of Immortal power.
A while later, Peter sighed. He knew that this world was probably not the kind that contained the energy needed for cultivating Immortal power.
Indeed, it seemed to be a place for comprehension rather than cultivation.
Having disrupted the stones, Peter walked slowly back down the mountain.
When he entered Ashley Barnes’s yard, she hurriedly asked, "Director Wang, should I go cook Noodles?"
"Sure."
Peter moved a chair to sit at the entrance, his mind pondering the events that unfolded.
There being no Immortal power at all meant that even with his vast knowledge of cultivation arts, he couldn’t cultivate here.
What should he do next?
This was the first time Peter encountered a place completely devoid of Immortal power, not even the spiritual energy found in the Phantom Realm.
When he felt the air, Peter realized that it had merely some Vitality and Energy and lacked any energy for cultivation.
Well, if there is no energy, then let’s not cultivate!
Peter stopped dwelling on the issue. After all, his body had reached such a high level of strength that it was his foundation for living, and with such a body, what did he have to fear in this world?
"Director Wang, here are the Noodles I’ve cooked for you."
A bowl of steaming Noodles was served.
Peter knew that these were made from some of the items he had brought along this time.
"You all should eat too," he said.
Peter then noticed the girl looking longingly at his food.
"We’ve already eaten," Ashley Barnes replied.
Putting on a stern face, Peter said, "Don’t lie to me; if you haven’t eaten, you haven’t eaten. What’s the fuss? Go cook a bowl for each person, and we can eat together."
Ashley Barnes was startled by Peter’s sudden sternness and hesitated before responding, "I’ll cook the Noodles."
After a while, Peter saw them each holding a bowl of Noodles, the girl already eating voraciously.
It was evident that they hadn’t had such a meal in a long time.
With a silent sigh, Peter Brown knew that the most pressing task for this village now was to ensure that everyone had enough to eat.
Right after he finished his noodles, Alexis White arrived.
"Director Wang, what are we doing today?"
Alexis White had grown to respect Peter somewhat and now wanted to ask if Peter had any development plans.
"Have you eaten?"
"I have."
"Take a seat, let’s discuss the development issues."
Once the other party sat down, Peter said, "Tell me about the development directions the previous leaders had when they came here."
"What development directions? It’s nothing more than increasing the relief efforts. There’s nothing special about our place."
Peter’s heart stirred and he said, "I’ve looked around the village, and the biggest issue for everyone now is the food. If there’s no food, everything else is meaningless."
"Mm, there is some relief, but it’s only enough to ensure that no one starves to death. Those who can work have gone to the cities to find jobs."
"You really don’t have any specialties?"
Shaking his head, Alexis White said, "Really none."
Peter then asked, "Are there many of that fruit wine I drank last Night in the village?"
"That wine? It’s not very useful. Every family in the village makes several jars of it each year, and people usually drink this kind of wine."
Peter looked toward Ashley Barnes and asked, "Does your family have some too?"
Nodding vigorously, Ashley Barnes said, "Every Year, there are wild fruits all over the mountains, and everyone picks them to make their own wine. We also have several large jars of wine."
"Are these large jars made by yourselves?"
"Yes, they are all from some clay kilns."
This time Alexis White chimed in.
Peter nodded slightly and then went inside the house.
Indeed, he saw several large jars placed inside, three of which contained wine. He smelled the fragrance of the wine as soon as he opened them.
Alexis White said, "It’s useless. Previous leaders also tried to sell our wine outside, but no one would buy it when we took it out. They say our wine has too many impurities and a sour taste, which the people in the city do not like."
Peter asked, "Does every family have so much wine?"
Alexis White replied, "Her man died, so they made a bit less. Other Families usually make more than ten jars since the wine is almost like a meal to us."
A smile appeared on Peter’s face as he said, "I have a prescription that can turn the wine into health wine. Let me try it first and then we’ll talk."
Alexis White wasn’t very confident and said, "It won’t be of much use."
Peter said, "Let’s try it first and then we’ll talk."
In the midst of their conversation, Peter started looking for something outside the house.
And sure enough, he found some stones.
Seeing Peter returning with some stones, Alexis White asked, "What are you doing with those stones?"
Peter smiled and said, "The sour taste is actually easy to remove. These stones contain some minerals. You just need to boil water with them, and once the water is boiled, mix it with the wine to cook, and the sour taste will naturally be eliminated."
"Really?" Alexis White looked skeptically at the stones Peter had brought.
Peter had Ashley Barnes boil a large pot of water, then cleaned the stones and threw them in to heat up.
After half an hour, when Peter poured some wine into the big pot, the wine underwent a refining process, and a fragrance of wine started to emanate.
Filling a bowl, Alexis White couldn’t help but take a sip and was amazed as he looked at Peter and exclaimed, "It really doesn’t have the sour taste anymore!"
