Chapter 1240: Chapter 1240 Tense People_1

A day had passed and everyone was starting to get anxious.

Even the representatives from the major sects who had been sitting cross-legged on the high platform had opened their eyes to check on the situation displayed on the stele.

Peter Brown glanced at the stele as well. At this time, the Beast Sect indeed had the upper hand, with about 5,000 more people than the Demon Sect.

But everyone knew one thing, which was that the Demon Sect should now be massively emerging from the nodes. With over 30,000 people, as long as 10,000 came out, the Demon Sect would be considered victorious.

While everyone was thinking this, the Sect Leader of the Demon Sect became visibly gravely solemn.

The Sect Leader of the Demon Sect was aware of his own situation. Although they occupied three nodes, one of them was damaged. However, he hadn’t been too worried about the other two nodes, thinking that even if another node was destroyed, there would still be 10,000 people who could come out in time.

But now, on the last day, no one had emerged from the remaining two nodes.

What on earth had happened?

The people of the Demon Sect who had initially been relaxed were now serious, and nobody knew what kind of situation might occur.

At this time, disciples from some of the smaller nodes began to emerge. The number of disciples was not very large—just a few or a few dozen—and it didn’t affect the overall situation, with both sides having people come out.

However, there was no sign of a large-scale emergence.

At this point, the Sect Leader of the Beast Sect also looked at the Sect Leader of the Demon Sect with some surprise, though he was in no mood to quarrel, and when their eyes met, neither said a word.

This isn’t right!

People from both sides began to speculate, feeling puzzled by the unfolding events.

Another 2 hours passed, and as everyone scrutinized the tally of people emerging from the nodes on the stele, unexpected thoughts crowded their minds.

Something had gone wrong!

That was what everyone concluded.

Although the Ghost Expelling Sect had more than a hundred people come out, the Great Elder Reuben Wilson still hadn’t appeared.

"Has anyone seen Elder Martin, the Third Elder?" asked Alexander Smith, unable to contain himself.

A disciple replied, "We haven’t seen Elder Martin, but Elder Cook was originally with us."

"What? Where did he go?" Alexander Smith asked urgently.

"Elder Cook didn’t emerge from the node for a long time; he said he would wait until the end," said the disciple, glancing at Peter Brown as he spoke.

Following his gaze to Peter, everyone understood Elder Cook’s plan. He intended to stay inside and kill Leo White!

Harry White let out a snort, his dissatisfaction with Elder Cook becoming intense.

"And then?" inquired one of the elders.

"After that, Elder Cook left the node alone. We don’t know where he went," the disciple answered.

Alexander Smith sighed. It was clear—Elder Cook had left the group to ambush Leo White, and now his fate was unknown.

"Leo White, you didn’t encounter Elder Cook on your way, did you?"

Hearing an elder’s inquiry, Peter responded, "I was always in a different direction; to my knowledge, Elder Cook should have been quite far from me."

A disciple from the Ghost Expelling Sect who had come out with Peter added, "What Senior Hudson is saying is true. Not only that, we also heard from the members of the Beast Sect that Senior Hudson saved Fairy Luna as well."

"What?"

Everyone instantly turned their attention to Peter.

Alexander Smith also seemed surprised and asked, "You saved Fairy Luna?"

Peter explained, "Fairy Luna was injured in a fight with a Divine Sense Body and later got trapped in a formation laid down by someone from the Demon Sect. As it happened, I have some understanding of formations, so I broke the formation and rescued her. Since then, Fairy Luna has been traveling with me."

The members of the Ghost Expelling Sect now looked at Peter differently.

Fairy Luna was considered a Daughter of Heaven within the Beast Sect and had reached the Profound Immortal Level. If Peter had saved her, would she look out for him in the future?

At this point, Harry White couldn’t keep calm and blurted urgently, "Why hadn’t you mentioned this before?"

"It’s just saving a person, what’s there to say?" Peter said, shrugging it off as if it were nothing.

Seeing his attitude, everyone was speechless; after all, the person he saved was none other than Fairy Luna!

Harry White asked, "What did Fairy Luna say?"

"She said that if we win this time, she will introduce me into the Beast Sect, and Brother Andrew Smith from the Beast Sect also said he would bring me in," Peter replied.

Hearing this, the elders exchanged glances and many smiled at Harry White, saying, "Congratulations, Harry! Your son has quite the fortune!"

Harry White’s face was already filled with smiles as he replied, "I never expected my son to have such an opportunity. Joyous indeed!"

Harry White was clearly thrilled.

Alexander Smith himself allowed a rare smile and said to Peter, "This is your opportunity. Grasp it well, for if you do, your future will be even more promising."

An elder who had a good relationship with Elder Cook commented at that moment, "The key question is whether our Beast Sect can weather this storm!"

As he spoke, everyone’s gaze reverted to the stele. The current situation still favored the Beast Sect, though the Demon Sect had also gained some ground with thousands more people emerging, making the gap still a bit over 5,000.

Seeing this, the elder said, "It is said that the other side controls a major node, which they have been fortifying. Even if one or two nodes were destroyed, what of it? They possess a Divine Sense Device that allows contact. By reaching the nearest location, if a few thousand people emerge, we will be without a doubt defeated!"

His words were indeed a stark reality, which everybody understood. They didn’t necessarily have to emerge from those three nodes; as long as they found another one and quickly sent people out, the Demon Sect would surely win.

One elder sighed and said, "They have the Linked Heart Divine Consciousness Device, and we have no means of communication. Many of our people are probably still searching for nodes, and who knows how many more can come out."

Another 2 hours had gone by and the critical moment was drawing even closer.

Yet, looking towards the Demon Sect’s side, everyone noticed that they had not seen any large-scale emergence of their members.

What had happened?

By now, everyone felt something was wrong. Of course, it wasn’t a crisis for the Beast Sect, but rather it seemed the Demon Sect was experiencing trouble. If that was the case, could this be a turning point for the Beast Sect?
