Chapter 1994: 563: Regret_3
For high-powered executives like Mandel Thompson, their daily schedules are always fully booked.
"No need to check," Mandel Thompson continued, "I am sure I will have time."
After all, it’s a significant matter in life!
Now that Isla Astir finally gave him hope, Mandel Thompson was bound to cherish this opportunity.
Isla Astir walked him to the car and then said, "Go back quickly, be careful when driving."
"Okay," Mandel Thompson nodded, "I’ll text you once I’m home."
"Mhm."
After watching Mandel Thompson’s car disappear into the distance, Isla Astir turned around and left.
She walked at a leisurely pace.
Just as she reached the entrance of her building, she saw Mrs. Laker approaching. Mrs. Laker looked at Isla Astir with a smile and said, "Isla, was that boy who just delivered the dog to you a relative of your family?"
"He’s my boyfriend," replied Isla Astir.
Boyfriend?
Mrs. Laker continued to ask, "Is he also a local resident from Capital City?"
"Mhm," Isla Astir nodded slightly.
Just as Mrs. Laker wanted to ask more, Isla Astir said, "Mrs. Riverside, I need to go back now."
Mrs. Laker watched Isla Astir’s retreating back, squinting her eyes.
Even though Isla Astir was quite pretty, would a Capital City local really marry her?
What local would be so senseless to marry someone from out of town?
Mrs. Laker sneered softly, "Tch, what’s so great about that! They’ll break up sooner or later!"
Having said that, Mrs. Laker turned and walked away as well.
Isla Astir lived on the ground floor so she didn’t need to wait for the elevator. NovelFire
Mrs. Laker got to the elevator entrance and saw her neighbor, Price, waiting there too.
Price saw Mrs. Laker and said with a smile, "This old elevator is broken again! If I had known, I should’ve bought a first-floor apartment like the Astir family! So much more convenient!"
Mrs. Laker was somewhat surprised, "Their apartment was purchased?"
How peculiar!
With Capital City’s current property prices being so high, you can’t buy an apartment without twenty million.
Both of Isla Astir’s parents don’t work; they spend their days walking dogs and playing cards. And their apartment is actually bought?
Price nodded, smiling, "Their daughter Isla is amazing. At such a young age, she’s bought a car and an apartment in full payment!"
Mrs. Laker’s eyes widened, "How come I’ve never heard the Astir family mention this before?"
Although she didn’t usually chat much with Olivia Armstrong, they often saw each other, and she had always thought the family of three rented their place.
The other day she was even talking about this at home.
That family is odd, neither adult works, and that’s fine, but they even keep two dogs!
They don’t seem like people who live an ordinary life at all.
Mrs. Laker couldn’t imagine that the Astir family’s apartment was actually bought.
Price is also a local from Capital City, but he wasn’t as status-seeking as Mrs. Laker. Furthermore, he had a good relationship with William Astir as they were chess partners.
Upon hearing this, Price said with a laugh, "Maybe they are just being low-key and don’t want to boast."
As he spoke, Price seemed to remember something, "Oh right, did you know? Their daughter Isla is also quite an accomplished comic artist!"
A comic artist!
Mrs. Laker swallowed hard, and for some reason, she suddenly regretted her attitude towards Olivia Armstrong today.
Isla is so young and capable of buying an apartment in full payment; she would definitely achieve more in the future.
Mrs. Laker looked at Price, "You’re not joking with me, are you?"
Price smiled, "Why would I make such a joke with you?"
Mrs. Laker squinted her eyes, "If Isla is that amazing, she probably would have bought a villa by now, right? Why would she squeeze in with us?"
Aren’t comic artists supposed to be very successful?
Price continued, "I heard Isla has already bought a small villa, she’ll move over there once the renovations are done."
Mrs. Laker’s eyes widened.
She even bought a villa already?
"Really?" asked Mrs. Laker.
Price smiled and countered, "When have I ever joked with you or told lies?"
True, he never has!
Price is known in the neighborhood for being honest.
A moment later, Price continued, "Whoever marries Isla is landing a real gem!"
Who wouldn’t like a capable girl?
"She really is amazing. The Astirs have just this one daughter, and just three years ago they were still farming at home. Who would have thought that Isla would suddenly prosper! After she got into a university in Capital City, she instantly bought an apartment here and then brought her parents over to live comfortably. She never forgets to include her parents wherever she goes."
Hearing all this, Mrs. Laker felt an unpleasant taste in her heart, suddenly overflowing with regret, feeling like she missed out on a fortune.
