Chapter 13: Source of All

Time passed.

He couldn’t say.

After the last energy was born, the world fell into silence. Not emptiness—completion.

The island no longer shifted. No tremors. No pulses. Just a quiet resonance, like a song that had finally found its final note and let it echo.

He had created everything.

He had forged every energy he could name.

From divine radiance to abyssal flame... from order to chaos... from elemental basics to forbidden corruptions... and dozens beyond.

They danced now across the island—flowing through earth, wind, water, even silence. Life and death. Light and shadow. Divine and demonic. Every force born of will, memory, or myth had taken root in his world.

And then... it happened.

A realization stirred in him.

All at once, and yet as if it had been building forever.

He felt it—not power, but realization. A silent understanding that bloomed in his core like a sunrise breaking through endless twilight.

Every energy he had created—life, death, divine, demonic, order, chaos, mana, aura, and beyond—began to stir.

Not in conflict.

Not in balance.

But in unity.

They melted into each other—colors folding, frequencies converging, forces dissolving and blending with perfect grace. Opposites that once screamed to oppose... now danced in synchrony.

Life and death folded into each other.

Order curled gently around chaos.

Creation embraced destruction.

Holy and hellish became indistinguishable.

There was no clash. No resistance. Only... convergence.

Everything became still.

Then, in that quiet—

He opened his eyes.

A soft, dim glow gathered at the center of his chest.

Nestled in the deepest part of his being, pulsed a single mass of energy.

Not gold. Not blue. Not crimson or violet.

Just grey.

Silent.

Unshaped.

It looked like nothing—and yet, it felt like everything.

He raised his hand, and the grey energy responded, flowing gently into his palm like water remembering its shape.

It hovered there—shimmering. Silent.

Not heavy, yet impossibly dense.

He stared at it. No name surfaced. No system applied.

But it felt... right.

With a breathless thought, he willed it—

Become mana.

The grey energy pulsed—then shifted.

In the blink of a moment, it turned a soft bluish glow, unmistakably mana, the same energy he had once struggled to awaken. Pure and vibrant.

His eyes widened.

He willed again—

The blue shimmer changed into white, then green, then gold, cycling into aura, life, divine.

Each energy appeared not as a separate force, but as a shape the grey could become.

The realization hit him.

"It’s not one energy," he murmured. "It’s... every energy."

And yet... it was also none of them.

It was not just creation, nor just destruction.

Not just chaos, nor only order.

It was chaos, and it was order.

It was the potential of all things, and the absence of identity.

A blank slate.

A source.

A final convergence.

The purest essence of reality before it fractures into form.

It was not bound by any form, yet could become all.

He stared into his hand as the grey light shimmered softly.

"This... is what I’ve been chasing."

He smiled.

"I’ll call you... Null."

And far beneath the island’s surface, deeper than roots and older than stone, a new pulse echoed.

The island had begun to produce Null energy—subtly, steadily. Not as a spark or storm, but as a stillness that made everything else make sense.

Not the end.

Not the beginning.

But what lies before either.

He opened his eyes fully.

No more stillness.

Now... it was time to move.

He rose from where he sat—no dramatic flare of power, no glowing aura trail. Just a quiet hum, like the world gently shifting to let him stand.

The grey shimmer pulsed softly within him.

He lifted his hand again, and the Null responded.

Not with resistance. Not with effort.

But like an extension of his intent.

He clenched his fist slightly and spoke aloud.

"Computer. Begin combat-grade testing. Deploy target."

[Confirmed.]

A section of the floor slid open, and a familiar reinforced humanoid dummy rose into position—dense alloy, impact-resistant, previously unmoved by any raw mana or aura test.

He didn’t wait.

He focused.

No chant. No pose.

Just will.

The grey energy stirred.

A thin blade of pure Null formed around his hand—simple, sharp, shimmering with the quiet weight of unspoken force. It didn’t crackle. It didn’t roar. It existed.

And he moved.

With a single, effortless step forward, he slashed.

The blade passed through the dummy like a whisper—no resistance, no sound.

The metal fell apart diagonally, sliced so clean it took a second for the halves to slide down and hit the ground.

He exhaled, blinking once.

"That was..."

He looked at his hand. The Null blade was gone—faded the moment the intent passed.

"...more natural than anything I’ve ever used."

There was no tension. No adjustment. No surge. The energy moved like instinct, like breathing.

Then he tried something else.

He summoned mana from the Null.

It formed—easily, fluidly—and wrapped around his fingers in a soft bluish glow.

But it felt different this time.

Cleaner. Calmer. Smoother.

He tried aura. Then life energy. Then divine.

Each shifted from Null as if he had always known how to do it.

And each... felt more natural now. As if the rough edges of every other energy had been smoothed. Harmonized.

He finally understood.

It wasn’t just that Null could become other energies.

It was that those other energies... had always come from Null.

They were fragments.

He was whole.

And now, he had access to all of them—no longer separate pieces, but as extensions of one true source.

Null.

He took a slow breath and smiled faintly.

"This is what mastery feels like."
