Chapter 197: Get Pregnant

After talking with Stefan, Genevieve sat on her bed, looking around the place. Her heart was a bit heavy as she thought about leaving here by weekend and never returning.

She rose and walked into her closet to look at everything. What should she take? What should she leave behind? She sighed as she contemplated leaving it all behind and getting new clothes in Ludus since she never really liked to travel with luggage.

She was going to need to learn to live like an average person now that she was walking away from all of them. She knew she wouldn’t always have things this rosy anymore.

Taking out a suitcase she began to pick through her clothes. She paused when she remembered that she was supposed to tell her father that Abigail had spoken to her and to tell him that Jamal had asked her to come over that weekend.

She returned to her bedside and picked up her phone. As she dialed his line it occurred to her that she had not bothered to call or ask him where he went to, since Abigail had said he traveled.

As she waited for the call to connect, she wondered what he was up to wherever he was and how he would react when he realized she had spilled his secret and run away from him.

Would he be mad? Would he regret not treating her right and miss her? What would happen to him then?

"Is there a problem?" Ryan asked impatiently as he received the call.

"Hello, Dad. Where are you? Abi mentioned that you were traveling. You didn’t mention it to me when we spoke."

"Yeah. I had to fly out for some urgent business," he said, waiting for her to say something else, perhaps get to the reason she called.

"Is everything okay? Is there a problem?" Genevieve asked on concern.

"There’s no problem. Why are you asking anyway? It’s not like you’d be able to solve a problem if there was one. Is that the only reason you called?" He asked, sounding irritated.

Genevieve rose from her bed, her heart pounding. "No. That’s not all. Jamal called earlier. He wants me to come to Ludus this weekend," she said quickly.

There was a small pause on the other end of the line, "I suppose that’s good even though it’s a little sudden. You must have made some impression on him for him to be so eager to see you again. You might not be entirely useless after all," he said, and Genevieve winced but her heart didn’t hurt like it always did in the past when he said such mean things.

"You think I should go even if it’s so sudden?" She asked, not wanting to sound too eager to leave.

"Is there a reason you shouldn’t? It’s not like you will be missed here. Abigail will take care of things at the office. Jamal Jonas is your future. That’s what you should be concerned about. Make sure you seduce him and get pregnant for him," he said, and Genevieve rolled her eyes.

"I’d need to be in ovulation to be pregnant. Pregnancy doesn’t come just because you want it to," she said dryly to show him how stupid he sounded.

"Then fake it if you have to until you make it happen. I can’t believe I have to teach you even that." He sounded exasperated.

Before she could say anything else he spoke again, "I’ll ask the pilot to get ready to fly you to Ludus..."

"I’d rather take a public flight," she said immediately.

"You will go in the private jet. You’re going there as Dawn Hank not sneaking in," he said, and she frowned as she wondered if he knew she had planned to get off the plane as Genevieve not Dawn.

Deciding not to comment more on the subject she decided to change it, "Abigail spoke to me," she said, and Ryan smirked.

"I thought you wouldn’t mention it," he said, and she raised a brow.

"You knew?" She asked, wondering if Pete had told him about it already.

"Of course, I did. What did you say to her to make her trust you enough to confide in you?" He asked, and Genevieve smirked.

"How come you know she spoke to me yet you don’t know what I said to her to make her open up?" Genevieve asked smugly.

Ryan chuckled. "Genny, I’m beginning to doubt where your loyalty lies a lot lately, and trust me that’s not good for you," he said in a warning tone.

"If I wasn’t loyal to you would I have told you Abigail spoke with me?" She asked, but Ryan merely snorted.

"That’s not for me to answer. Things won’t end pleasantly for you if you think of betraying me, Genny," he threatened in a very calm tone.

"Why? You’re going to kill me?" She asked curiously, but not because she was afraid.

She realized she wasn’t as scared of dying anymore as she had been years ago. Death wasn’t the worst thing that could happen to her.

She was more afraid of being exposed and publicly disgraced before she had a chance to confess. And she knew very well that was something her father would never do since exposing her was same as exposing himself.

"That would be too easy. But let’s not talk about that, my darling Genny. I’m sure you know better than to cross me. I need to go now. I have business to handle," Ryan said when he received an awaiting call notification from Pete, and without waiting for her to say anything else he hung up the call.

Genevieve threw her phone on the bed. Taking a deep sigh she returned to her closet to pack her bags. She’d make the best use of the next couple of days with Abigail and Josh.

If she had been having any second thoughts about telling the truth, the conversation she just had with him had cleared it.

She didn’t want to live the rest of her life being threatened continuously in that manner. She wanted loyalty to come from a place of love not fear.

She doubted she still had any love left for her father after all the verbal abuse she suffered in his hand to the point she had little or no self-esteem.

Thankfully she knew so much about her father and had more than enough proof thanks to the way he always underestimated her.

She was going to give Abigail all the proof she’d need to expose the truth. Hopefully Abigail would be able to forgive her and let her go without pressing charges.
