Chapter 1234: Chapter 39 Great Alliance Moves Forward (24)

The unique Sea Blue military flag just rose on the horizon, rekindling hope among the soldiers of Mont Blanc County whose morale had been shaken.

However, Gaisa Adonis was not as optimistic as his subordinates because he didn’t know how many Iron Peak County soldiers had arrived, nor could he be sure if it was indeed the Iron Peak County Military.

But no matter who came or how many there were, Gaisa had only one task—to continue fighting.

"Reinforcements have arrived!" Gessa ran among the formations, shouting with all his might, "Hold the line!"

The officers and soldiers echoed the Colonel’s words, and after a brief commotion, each square formation of Mont Blanc County erupted with cheers, a moment of salvation at the brink of despair, each shout louder than the last.

Similarly, the unfamiliar Sea Blue military flag appearing just south of River Valley Village disrupted the entire deployment of the Parliament forces.

Colonel Sanel and Colonel Nagy had already exhausted their reserves; there would be no ambushes anymore, nor any more reinforcements. All available forces had been thrown into the battle.

The Parliament forces had no overall formation left; except for the troops besieging the remnants of Mont Blanc County, every unit still in the command chain was frantically pursuing the retreating left flank of the Alliance.

It was like a wrestler who, after a hard and lengthy struggle, finally forced the enemy to lose balance, now exerting every ounce of strength and using every inch of its body to seize complete victory.

In fact, the Parliament forces had already secured victory; they controlled the battlefield, trapped the Alliance, forced the Alliance’s left flank to retreat, and penetrated the Alliance’s center.

But they just needed a bit of time to digest the spoils of war.

A bit of time.

Yet at this critical moment, the Iron Peak County Military appeared on the battlefield, and the Iron Peak County Military gave them "not a bit" of time.

Before the Newly Reclaimed Land Expeditionary Cavalry chasing the remnants of the Alliance could return, before the Parliament detachment bearing the "Sixth Legion" banner could build a defense line, the resounding sound of war drums had already rung out at the valley’s entrance.

With fewer than two battalions in number, the Iron Peak County Military quickly deployed into a wide front, broader than four battalion square formations, and marched resolutely, to the beat of the military drums, to attack the Sixth Legion besieging Mont Blanc County.

The terrain was flat on the North Shore of the small unnamed river, with only minor undulations, insufficient to disrupt the formation of the Iron Peak County Military.

Tamas, sword in hand, walked at the forefront leading the entire army’s march. Soldiers traversed between the lines, unrelentingly using long halberds to knock sense into new recruits with scattered steps.

The light cavalry of the Parliament forces, patrolling the battlefield perimeter, continuously screamed as they charged towards the Iron Peak County Military.

But the warriors holding the Sea Blue military flag completely ignored the enemy’s scare tactics; their pace was unaffected, not wasting even a tiny bit of gunpowder on the scattered troops charging at them.

They were just advancing, marching to the beat, firmly advancing; nothing but orders and death could halt them.

In the contest of will and courage, the Parliament light cavalry fell back; each rider pulled sharply on their reins just before crashing into the human wall, then fled the formation.

Yet the Iron Peak County Military continued advancing.

At this moment, not only the Parliament’s light cavalry but every person on the battlefield was drawn by the Iron Peak County Military’s offensive.

Green-uniformed messenger cavalry galloped back and forth between the scattered segments of the Parliament forces.

The Parliament forces’ detachment storming into River Valley Village now surged chaotically out of the village.

The troops originally pursuing the enemy began to turn around, racing back to the main battlefield.

The Sixth Legion, encircling the remnant forces of Mont Blanc County, was forced to divert two battalions from its line to fend off the Iron Peak County Military attacking from behind.

Yet before the Sixth Legion could establish a second line of defense, the remnants of Mont Blanc County counterattacked and fiercely clung onto the enemy attempting to retreat and reorganize.

The Iron Peak County Military kept advancing, as cavalry equipped with handguns from the Newly Reclaimed Land Expeditionary Army began appearing around them.

Unlike the light cavalry that only dared to harass the formation’s outskirts, the brown-clad handgun cavalry rode directly towards the Iron Peak County Soldiers, turning their warhorses sidewards to shoot and then galloping away when twenty meters away.

The true test began now; the Iron Peak County Military experienced casualties for the first time.

The gunshots pierced the beat of the drums, lead bullets flew towards the human wall, and Iron Peak Army Soldiers constantly fell out of formation.

Some staggered in their steps, kneeling on the ground, their spines curling involuntarily due to intense pain; others collapsed silently, remaining lifeless on the ground.

Tamas was the most targeted, immediately spotted by the Parliament cavalry who saw the distinctive armored Iron Peak County officer leading from the front of the line.

But deterred by the sizable and formidable musketeers within the Iron Peak County Military prepared to engage, the individual Parliament cavalry riders lacked the courage to charge directly at the front of the line and only dared to shoot from the far ends of the line.

Lead bullets grazed Tamas’s body, landing near his feet, kicking up chunks of earth.

Yet Tamas marched steadfastly at the front of the formation, his sword unwavering in hand, never issuing a retaliatory command.

Besides the sound of the drums, hoofbeats, and gunfire, only the emotionless orders of the soldiers were audible in the formation: "Maintain formation! Fill the gaps!"

Thus, the Iron Peak County Soldiers bypassed fallen comrades and continued to advance.

"Dong—Dong—Dong Dong!"

"Dong—Dong—Dong Dong!"

"Dong—Dong—Dong Dong!"

The beat of the advancing drums seemed like the trumpet of doom, the enemy was just ahead; if only one could sprint with all their might, they could instantly engage in a furious battle.

But the Iron Peak County soldiers were still marching, even though the handgun cavalry repeatedly fired lead bullets at them, even though every step forward cost more blood, their pace never quickened or slowed a single bit.
