Chapter 1081: Chapter 1081: Yellow Moon and Red Moon

"Meow~"

Mia, held by Luviya by the wall, looked at Shard with great concern, thinking that Shard was really being silly doing this in the cold winter.

In the entire house, aside from the basement, the attic was the room with the least steam pipes running through it. Furthermore, to better embrace the moonlight, Shard had opened the window, and after the night wind blew into the room, even Luviya, who was cloaked, felt the room was extremely cold.

Fortunately, the new firewood added to the Primal Fire some time ago greatly increased Shard’s resistance to the cold. He didn’t have time to complain about the temperature, closed his eyes, and raised his head, letting his face face the moon outside the window.

As the large Ring of Fate appeared behind him, he followed the information provided by Sister Delphine, used a black cloth band to cover his eyes, then meditated on that large Silvermoon in his mind. This was quite easy for him, as Shard often saw that moon in his dreams.

Gradually, Luviya and Mia both saw Shard under the moonlight, as if he was beginning to glow himself. The silver light of the moon resonated with the Core Spirit Rune "Silvermoon," spreading a strange halo centered around him throughout the entire attic, once again making Luviya feel as if she was standing in front of an ancient Moon Goddess’s church or shrine.

The purple-eyed girl raised an eyebrow:

"Impressive."

She didn’t know if she was speaking to Mia, and the cat was watching Shard intently, as if afraid he might vanish suddenly.

And soon, all those strange lights and shadows disappeared. Shard only removed the cloth band from his eyes after the Ring of Fate behind him disappeared:

"Sister Delphine’s ritual was very effective. But strangely, in my perception, there are only two places in Tobesk’s moon."

He suspiciously stood up, and Luviya immediately came over to help him put on his coat:

"Which two places?"

"One place is me."

He pointed to himself again.

"One place is in the sky."

Shard pointed to the moons in the sky, speaking with some distress:

"The brilliance between me and the moon is too bright, so I can’t see any other moonlight. Of course, it could also be because there’s no Yellow Moon Relic around here that we’re looking for."

Luviya didn’t know whether to be angry or to laugh:

"Actually, you don’t need to compliment yourself like that, I know your moonlight is very pure."

"But it seems that finding the so-called ’Yellow Moon’ by this method of resonance is not feasible."

"It’s alright, after all, whether we can obtain five pieces of the ’Sage’s Glowstone’ isn’t important to us, we don’t have a suitable candidate for The Chosen One."

Luviya spoke softly, urging:

"Go downstairs quickly to warm up by the fire, although with your physical condition, it’s unlikely you’ll catch a cold, but you can’t stay here all the time."

So Shard received Mia and left the attic together with Luviya. Tonight Luviya would still stay here, and the two of them needed to review their current understanding of the Pantanal Region and determine the challenges they would face next.

And on the Garden Walkway of Henri Garden, two streets away from Saint Delan Square to the east, two ladies very familiar to Shard came bathing in the unusually bright moonlight tonight.

Approaching from the east was Miss Danestar, the librarian of Saint Byrons, who, like Shard, chose to use the Inspiration Resonance Ritual tonight under clear skies to search for relics. Originally she found nothing, but moments ago she happened to glimpse the dazzling silver moonlight, knowing this wasn’t her target—the Yellow Moon Relic—she still headed in that direction to check the situation.

Arriving a bit later was Miss Pawo, the Vice President of the Truth Society, with a large silver book floating by her side.

She still wore that long dress Shard was familiar with, black on top and red below, checking the automatically-flipping large book as she turned onto the winter night walkway. Looking up, she saw Miss Danestar wearing an antifreeze black velvet cape, blinked slightly before lowering her head to look at her own book, then displayed a highly surprised expression.

"The Angel-Level Relic ’Smowell Codex’ is indeed powerful, even capable of seeing through a Thirteen-Ring Sorcerer’s disguise."

Miss Danestar stood under the gas streetlamp by the street, retracting her gaze from the already disappeared silver moonlight, turned to look at Miss Pawo:

"Good evening."

"Good evening, are you...the Red Moon Witch of the Saint Byrons Integrated Academy?"

Miss Pawo respectfully bowed and explained:

"I cannot peer into your power, only determine that you are a High Ring Sorcerer. I heard about the Red Moon Witch of Saint Byrons not long ago, and combined with the well-known descriptions of your beauty, I assumed that the person I’m fortunate to meet tonight is you."

"You don’t need to compliment me, madam of the Truth Society, what are you here searching for?"

Miss Danestar asked calmly towards the Six-Ring Female Sorcerer, who honestly replied:

"Using the Smowell Codex, I conducted numerology divination with the aid of a ritual. I believe the Yellow Moon sought by the bard is most likely the Sage-Level Relic known as the Source of Chaos. The last appearance of the Source of Chaos was approximately 194 years ago, when a Seven-Ring Sorcerer brought it to the lakeside, 20 miles directly from Tobesk."

Miss Danester nodded slightly:

"Continue."

"Our people found Astrologer Euclid’s notebook in the ancient ruins at Karas Mountain some time ago. I’ve searched for his whereabouts, and I believe he ultimately died at Karas Mountain, but the Source of Chaos should still be in Tobesk City. According to the notebook, we later used local noble connections and commissioned folklore and history professors to help sift through century-old information, studying several incidents and urban legends seemingly related to the moon. Very coincidentally, it was only after finding an old newspaper in the library that I dared to confirm that the relic is likely in one of the houses in the nearby district, where the astrologer lived two hundred years ago."

Miss Pawo spoke with a steady expression on her face:

"Due to being unable to determine the specific house, I intended to personally search and divine in the area, but unfortunately, I failed to divine the result. This is actually normal; with so many people from the church present that night, if the relic could be easily found through divination, the Prophet’s Society’s approach would certainly be more accurate than mine."

Miss Danester wasn’t too familiar with the "Astrologer" and "Source of Chaos," having suspected another relic, as records of the Source of Chaos’s circulation are indeed scarce:

"Ah, I see. So, given you know about the bard, were you also at the concert hall on the night the demon appeared?"

"No, I wasn’t. However, a poet from the Southern Nation I collaborated with was there. I sought a promise from him, and he requested my help to ascend a lighthouse and find this relic, which would greatly aid him."

Miss Pawo confessed, and Miss Danester nodded again:

"This relic belongs to me. You’ve succeeded in exchanging this information for your life."

"Thank you for your generosity, madam. Goodnight; I will leave this place and return south next."

Miss Pawo bowed respectfully once more and then turned to leave.

Miss Danester then frowned slightly:

"The Source of Chaos, hmm? Indeed, that can directly represent the Yellow Moon. Although it’s only Sage-Level, its moonlight is quite pure. But the problem is..."

She surveyed the surrounding houses:

"Where exactly is that relic?"

Shard met Miss Danester again in the morning on Friday. He initially planned to visit Sister Delphine at Midshire Fort today, to arrange to greet the two Grand Witches arriving in Huntington on Saturday. However, the bell downstairs rang during breakfast.

"Miss Danester? Why are you here so early?"

Shard was quite surprised and wanted to invite the lady upstairs. But the librarian shook her head slightly:

"The church received some news from Apna Library, and I’ve relocated my temporary assignment accordingly. I will leave the city shortly, so the search for the Yellow Moon Relic is now up to you."

"Oh, no problem, and you take care... if I find..."

Shard quickly replied, but Miss Danester interrupted him:

"Do not use the poetry paper to send messages to me; the rights to the poetry paper are with the Academy. Although I’ve left trustworthy people, this is ultimately our affair. Once things are settled in the south, I’ll come to find you before returning to the Academy."

She smiled at Shard:

"It’s confirmed that the relic is the Sage-Level Relic, the Source of Chaos, a flawless, standard round Treasure Bead. This item is likely in the nearby district; you can seek help from the Kingdom History Library or folklore professors in the University District."

"Yes, I understand."

Shard nodded, then Miss Danester took out a ring to hand to him. The bronze ring featured a ruby as its face, and its circumference was etched with dense Elven Runes, which Shard could understand due to his knowledge of Elves.

"A piece of alchemical item I crafted personally—consider it an adequate Year-End Festival gift. It doesn’t have substantial uses, but it emits Light Spell continuously and can release Healing Spell under Red Moonlight at night, although the effect isn’t particularly strong."

Seeing Shard accept the ring, she further explained:

"I’ve worn this ring for a long while, and most who know me recognize it. So this ring can represent me. Keep it well; if you encounter indeed troublesome situations, you can present this ring. The church, Academy, and most neutral Circle Sorcerers should give me face."

After finishing, she didn’t give Shard a chance to express gratitude, waving goodbye with a smile:

"See you in a few weeks, Mr. Hamilton. As a professor, I need to remind you although the Source of Chaos is critical, don’t forget your exams.

I certainly hope that my chosen next librarian won’t fail his compulsory course exams. Mind you, back when I was a student, I was the best Circle Sorcerer in my grade. If you smoothly advance to fourth grade, next year, I can offer you separate electives, and we can discuss Moon and the Library privately. I think that’s necessary."

After saying this, the lady left, leaving Shard at the doorway with his gaze on the ring in his palm.

Beyond its inherent supernatural power, the ring itself holds the greatest significance. Although Miss Danester still hasn’t found a way to activate the Silvermoon Library yet, she seems determined to groom Shard as the next librarian.

For the outlander, this indeed is the best Year-End Festival gift.
