Chapter 1067: Chapter 1067: The Teachers’ Guidance
Shard told Luviya about Sir Plisha’s invitation to join him in retrieving a relic tomorrow, but Luviya didn’t show much reaction, letting Shard act on his own.
She was here to talk to Shard about something else:
"I went to see Miss Pavo again."
In the restaurant on Silver Cross Avenue, Shard was tilting his head to look at the bright street scene lit by gas lamps outside the window, when Luviya suddenly spoke.
Shard was taken aback and turned to look at her. The cat, waiting to be fed on the high stool beside Shard, meowed, urging Shard not to forget it:
"What?"
"Yes, Miss Pavo, the Vice President of the Truth Society."
The girl with purple eyes said, holding a fork:
"I wanted to confirm whether she is the second candidate as the fourth Chosen One, so I went to track her whereabouts again. She is indeed the second candidate..."
This did not surprise Shard; the Chosen Ones always have strong traits connected to their identity. Although Miss Pavo’s series of plans always failed, she was indeed very clever.
"Then I accidentally got discovered by her."
Luviya said casually, and before Shard could ask, she continued:
"Don’t worry, I’m fine, and I didn’t fight with that lady. I pretended to be a female diviner by the roadside, and that lady seemed to be completing some task at the time, not having the time to talk with me further. However, she asked me to perform a cartomancy for you, and interestingly, the result was ’friendship’."
Shard frowned slightly:
"In that case, we must let Sir Plisha complete the Chosen One Ceremony. Compared to Sir Plisha, Miss Pavo from the Truth Society poses a greater threat."
"Yes, unless we can find the third candidate."
Luviya nodded, so Shard proposed:
"When we have the time, I’ll take you to meet Miss Sylvia. That lady seems to also have the traits of a Chosen One, maybe you can take a look."
"That shouldn’t be a problem, but I saw in the newspaper that the visiting group is leaving next Wednesday, right? You need to act quickly."
"Then on Tuesday night, please accompany me as my date to the farewell party."
Shard extended the invitation, and Luviya played with a strand of hair by her ear before nodding reservedly.
"The banquet at Lakeside Manor I attended seemed like it happened just yesterday. During that wedding banquet, Tobesk had just experienced its first snow, and now it’s almost the end of the year."
Shard mused about time, slicing off a small piece of sauced steak and placing it in front of Mia.
After dinner, Luviya and Shard returned together to No. 6, Saint Delan Square. Tonight, she intended to use the third floor to do some stargazing and complete her last paper before exam week begins.
So, Luviya went to the third floor, and Miss Danester wasn’t expected until eight o’clock, leaving Shard time to retrieve the stone tablet Miss Danester brought from the study, along with the other two stone tablets from the basement.
The tablets representing Silvermoon and Red Moon were placed on the table first, and Shard held the tablet symbolizing Yellow Moon, which the Librarian had brought, in his hands.
After the whistle and bell sounds, a large Ring of Fate appeared behind him. The Spirit Rune [Yellow Moon] illuminated the stone tablet in his hand, and the originally plain stone tablet immediately began to respond with spiritual light, emitting pleasing golden light particles.
Under the gaze of that cat, the stone tablet in Shard’s hand slowly floated into the air, hovering in front of him.
Originally, this item had very thin Miracle Elements, but now the overflowing Miracle Elements resembled those of a Divine Item in a church.
Shard took a deep breath, reached out his finger, and touched the stone tablet in front of him. As the golden streamer rushed towards his finger, the originally smooth surface of the stone tablet suddenly revealed the engravings of the Yellow Moon.
The activation pattern on the Silvermoon Slate back then was a silver full moon surrounded by olive branches, and what appeared on the stone tablet now was a yellow crescent moon wrapped by laurel branches.
Shard squinted slightly, and the vast and complex knowledge flowed into his mind. It was also a third of the knowledge, coordinating well with the knowledge from the Silvermoon Slate.
With this, once the Red Moon Spirit Rune is unsealed, the Secrets of Time from the Sixth Era will be unveiled before him.
"Meow~"
Mia’s meow reminded Shard of the two other stone tablets on the table. The unactivated Red Moon Tablet lay quietly in the box, but the already activated Silvermoon Slate seemed to resonate with the Yellow Moon Tablet floating in front of Shard, first emitting light autonomously, and then also floating to face Shard.
The two stone tablets circled each other, rotating as if two moons were drawn to one another. Even when Mia, perched on Shard’s shoulder, reached out with her little paw to push them out of their rotating path, they quickly returned to their original position.
"What exactly are these stone tablets capable of?"
He reached out to hold the two stone tablets flat in the air and brought them together, then placed the cat from his shoulder onto the tablets:
"An aerial hammock for Mia?"
Shard thought to himself with a smile, then sighed quietly, looking at the moon outside the window:
"I need to liberate my Red Moon, Miss Danester is searching for the Yellow Moon’s core spirit rune, and the bard Keeper of Secrets is looking for the yellow moon. These three matters seem to be interconnected."
Miss Danester rang the bell downstairs promptly at eight o’clock. Because not even a second was off, Shard surmised that she might have intentionally stood outside the door for a moment, checking her pocket watch while waiting for the time.
When he opened the door to let the Thirteen-Ring Female Sorcerer in, Shard informed her that there was someone on the third floor, but Miss Danester didn’t mind.
The two then sat in the second-floor lounge. Shard asked Miss Danester to take out the book with the black hard cover again and lay it open on the coffee table. The two then manifested their Ring of Fate once more, using the spiritual light from their respective core spirit runes to illuminate the book.
"Please maintain this state."
Shard reminded, then brought out the Yellow Moon Tablet. After a gentle touch, the rotating tablet floated above the unwritten book, speckled yellow moonlight scattered across the pages.
Miss Danester frowned slightly as the originally blurred ink stains on the book became somewhat clearer. Although the clarity was not even comparable to when the "Guiding Moon" spiritual light appeared in the afternoon, it was indeed clearer than when there were only the two of them.
She recognized the stone tablet as the same one she had brought in the afternoon, hence cast a slight frown towards Shard, wanting him to explain.
Shard’s reminiscences took him back to the Forest of Thousand Trees, where he had personally participated in the God Summoning Ritual and had learned a lot of knowledge from Miss Feliana.
In distant past, the founder of Saint Byrons faced a similar situation and proposed an alternative solution:
"I read a little story in ancient books. A very powerful Witch from the Fifth Era wanted to prepare a grand ritual but lacked witches corresponding to the power of time and space to assist her. (Chapter 303)"
Miss Feliana and Miss Orland’s faces seemed right in front of him. Shard missed these two ladies very much, for indeed they taught him many things. This longing grew stronger as he recounted past stories, and Shard made an effort to suppress this inappropriate sentiment:
"But the Witch did not continue to seek out other witches; instead, she sought two exceedingly powerful relics to assist her, one being an hourglass pendant and the other a glass cube."
Shard extended two fingers, looking at Miss Danester:
"So, what does this imply?"
Miss Danester squinted slightly; she understood:
"I see, there’s such a method. If a pure core spirit rune cannot be found, then relics with pure power can indeed suffice."
During the Forest of Thousand Trees, Miss Feliana acknowledged that even without the Witch’s power, and even if the relic was damaged, the Circle Sorcerer System’s spirit runes could substitute for the Witch’s power.
This outlined a simple equation where Witch’s power, relics, and the core spirit rune of Circle Sorcerers symbolically equate in certain respects. Since even high-standard, highly mysterious rituals such as the God Summoning Ritual can substitute relics for mortal power, it stands to reason that simply opening this unwritten black book could similarly use relics as substitutes.
Shard’s Yellow Moon Tablet aptly demonstrated his point of view:
"This suggests that if indeed, the ’Yellow Moon’ core spirit rune cannot be found, perhaps we can use relics embodying the pure ’Yellow Moon’ concept to substitute for the core spirit rune. This tablet is clearly insufficiently pure; we require a relic that is purely a ’Yellow Moon Relic.’"
This idea he had conceived before, only at that time Miss Danester had not yet validated whether the ’Guiding Moon’ was effective, so he didn’t propose it.
Miss Danester bit her red lip, trying to keep her joy in check, looking at Shard with admiration:
"Mr. Hamilton, it appears I underestimated the correspondence-trained Circle Sorcerers a bit. While your foundation isn’t as solid as formal students, your capability in application is absolutely remarkable. Yes, why didn’t I think of that? Just by accompanying a simple ritual, guiding the elemental power of relics, sufficiently pure relics indeed could replace spiritual light. Though untried yet, it’s quite feasible, very feasible indeed."
The smile on the Librarian’s face was genuine. Before she visited Shard tonight, she hadn’t expected Shard to come up with such a good idea.
"I actually know of a ritual to replace spiritual light with relics too."
Shard modestly said, noting it was content from "Feliana’s Notes."
Miss Danester nodded slightly:
"Let me think, a sufficiently powerful and pure Yellow Moon Relic...
Unclassified Level Relic ’Shattered Moonstone,’ remnants from the Second Era when the moon broke and fell into the material world; Unclassified Level Relic ’Moon in Water,’ a relic from the real moon’s reflection in a mirror, nearly equating to the power of three moons; Angel-Level Relic ’Maria’s Black Night Curtain,’ legendary astral creation, moonlight behind that curtain is extraordinary; Sage-Level Relic ’Book of Frenzy,’ containing ancient texts of the secrets of the frenzied moon and moon worship, at least twenty-three Thirteen-Ring Magics worth of information; Sage-Level Relic ’Source of Chaos,’ a flawless treasure bead embodying yellow moonlight...
