Chapter 384: Chapter 256: Suppression (Part 2)

The gap between the two lightning spheres was somewhat wide, causing the four mages to all glance at Malin in unison, with surprise, hesitation, reproach, and even curiosity.

As the lightning spheres made contact with the front line of the Chaos force, they began to operate, emitting brighter light, and both shot a bolt of lightning at each other. The bolts met in the air, entangled, linked, and then the spheres ceased to move slowly, accelerating and covering nearly a hundred yards in two seconds.

At least a hundred Chaos humanoids were pierced before they could react, their carapaces turned to ash in an instant, disappearing before everyone’s eyes in the sea breeze.

In the end, when Malin felt that maintaining the movement of the two spheres would increase consumption, he discontinued the sustained consumption of the spell formation, then took notice of the tall figure emerging from the darkness: "The Chaos Blessed."

The Blessed, having received the so-called blessing of Chaos, these Chaotic Believers would become non-human. Like this one here, whose entire face had turned into that of an octopus, with tentacles in place of a mouth, and whose body was covered in a carapace.

"Not the four of them, our trouble has lessened a bit," the old mage recognized its identity in one glance: "It’s the Evil God of the Storm Sea from the south. It seems the Temple of the God of the Seas here must have been destroyed. That miser wouldn’t bless his followers so easily."

Malin was not surprised by this outcome. A village of fewer than a thousand people, a Priest, one or two Assistant Priests—they were up against three hundred... Maybe not all nine hundred would turn to Chaos, but at least two-thirds was a number they couldn’t withstand.

The three mortals only faced a dead end, and the God of the Seas was also known for a fiery temper, as well as a fickle nature like the sea itself. To Malin, one would have to be out of their mind to believe in such nonsense; the Goddess of Harvest was far more suitable for someone like him with a mixed belief system.

The flare was about to fall, and Malin loaded another shot into the air. This time, they all saw the Chaotic Believers behind the tall Chaos Blessed.

"No children or elderly are seen," muttered the young mage Raphael.

"Quite normal, kids are tender flesh, and the elderly can be used for sacrifice. Chaos is the most resourceful existence in this world; in their eyes, everything is useful. Only useless kids like you are fit to float in a pot," the young mage said as he glared fiercely at Raphael.

The old mage chuckled: "Don’t scare my Apprentice, you guy. It seems you still haven’t forgotten what your senior brother said to you back then."

At their instructor’s remark, the young mage laughed and nodded, "Yeah, when I was little, my senior brother used to say that too."

"Just kill them," Malin looked at these Chaotic creatures with their crimson tattoos and suddenly found them utterly despicable.

The Crossbowmen on the flanks began shooting, but their numbers were too few, and the Chaotic creatures began to speed up. The heavy infantry was a bit uneasy facing the superior enemy forces but considering Malin’s previous displays, along with the other mages, they didn’t back down.

"Control the firewall, don’t let them flank us. I’ll kill them all," Malin said, summoning the lightning spheres once again.

"They’ve already seen your move; I don’t think it will be of much use," the old mage commented after watching Malin release the lightning spheres.

Malin watched as the lightning spheres completed their links at chest height, then the Chaos creatures shrank their bodies to dodge the lethal chain. Only a few who didn’t crouch low enough or fast enough died as the others followed their leader, laughing wildly as they accelerated their charge.

"A hundred yards!" shouted the Standard Bearer, observing the distance.

Malin pulled two more lightning spheres, this time at waist height.

"Is this the only trick you know?" the young mage looked at Malin with some dissatisfaction.

Malin smiled and didn’t respond, simply launching them.

The leader, somewhat detached from his subordinates, leaped over the linked line of the lightning spheres, howling in pride, and then heard screams from the line he was facing.

He glanced behind him to see the lightning spheres dividing, splitting up and down into nine, making a total of eighteen spheres that cast a fine net, ensnaring all the jumping or outright fallen Chaos creatures.

"Only you left," Malin dropped the Shotgun, pulled Bippo from his hood behind him onto the sandy ground, then took Blood Roar out of his bag. With his free hand, he beckoned, and Fio jumped into the palm of his hand.

Having assembled his axe, Malin strode towards the Blessed: "You mongrel! Face me!"

Watching his subordinates die one by one, the Blessed roared, his face red with rage, and he charged at Malin while holding his big stick.

"Wow, are the kids from the Church of the Goddess of Harvest this strong these days?" the young mage looked at his girlfriend, who shrugged: "My brother has never shown even a fifth of this guy’s power. I think this must be an exception."

"Forty yards between them!" the Flag Bearer continued to announce the distance.

The tattoos on the Chaos Blessed’s body turned red, his steps quicker and larger, swelling in size.
