Chapter 1188: Section 727: Facing (Part 1)
In the following week, Malin witnessed the launch of the cleanup ship and saw the new satellite being printed out. Miss Tianji insisted on using the Earth Union’s emblem, and out of respect for this AI that has persisted for eight millennia and the legal fact that the Thainan Union inherited from the Earth Union, the Sage Yu and others tacitly agreed.
Lady Dimis and her group were undergoing enlightenment. For her, having completed the process, it was as if she was reborn. Since the matriarch of a group had accepted enlightenment, even the most stubborn members of the group resigned to their fate.
It turns out that enlightenment seems to subconsciously adjust the Awakeners’ affection towards humanity. For example, that big guy now feels humans aren’t as annoying as before—according to him, the old dean is kinder than any human he’s ever met, and if all humans were like this, he wouldn’t be enemies with them.
This made Malin wonder, since the old dean could enlighten zombies and make them Awakeners, could he enlighten other life forms?
Hmm, maybe I’ll try it when I have the time.
On the tenth day, all the Legend and Pioneer Corps soldiers, including Malin and a large number of Awakeners including Lady Dimis, gathered at the lakeside not far from the factory’s launch tube on the tenth morning.
As Tianji completed the countdown, for the first time in eight millennia, a satellite once again ascended from this factory. Malin watched the rocket fly into space, filled with joy as the flame of civilization burned bright once more.
Quyi watched the rocket until it disappeared, holding Milani in her hands as she looked at Malin: "Really... I never thought something could truly fly out of the sky. The stories my mother told me when I was young were actually true."
"You still have someone to tell you stories, I never heard such stories, it’s really amazing." Lulu’s face was full of shock. The factory and launch she witnessed today in Westland were stories she had never seen or even heard of.
With the first satellite relaunch, Sostak No.3 and Bixiu started working with Tianji to rebuild the satellite network.
With nothing to do, Malin began loitering in the City of Awakeners, waiting for time to pass, taking Lulu and Quyi to the Dark Zone to eat, take, card, and demand.
Eat, of course, means eating Spirits, and you know what, Malin even caught a pretty big duck. According to Jason, this thing back eight millennia ago would have been enough for Malin to be jailed. Now... it’s endless.
Take, of course, means digging in ruins to find good things. Lulu has always had good luck in this area, she dug out a laser gun from a pile of trash which was still usable, but the focusing tube seemed to be misaligned, so it was completely inaccurate. Lulu shot once, the laser bent forty-two degrees, almost hitting an Awakener nearby.
Card, of course, means taking people to checkpoints to beat up Chaos—over the past half-month, there were two more chaotic invasions, but thanks to the double action of watchtowers and satellites, these guys were discovered as soon as they came, then Malin led people to kill them.
Finally, demand is very simple, Malin would always demand a few of the most precious things from Chaos’s head, then throw it to Zhang Minghe for auction, with the proceeds going to buy everything needed for the City of Awakeners. Since it wasn’t used by himself, no one said anything, and even Jin Weili and other guys who fought Chaos with Malin bragged worldwide about Malin’s good deeds—for, after all, each of these Legends would get ten heads, which was no small amount of money.
Although it was very hot, Lulu was very satisfied, considering here had scenery completely absent in the North. According to Lulu, the place she was in from her hometown was all snow throughout the year and playing around here with Malin was much more fun.
Though, Quyi soon got bored. This girl turned into a lazy bug, Malin had no choice and was about to stay in the city with them, when New Hangzhou received news saying they had something they’d like Malin to help with.
Malin had no choice but to leave Lulu to accompany Quyi, while also leaving Milani and Lady Spotty.
Salis followed Malin back to New Hangzhou. The Sage Yu wanted to send a transport vessel over, but Malin opened a teleportation channel and jumped directly onto the Sage Yu’s face—since they were too familiar, Malin could directly jump near Sage Yu through the Subspace root channels of the World Tree, directly bypassing New Hangzhou’s anti-teleportation array.
This gave the City Guardian of New Hangzhou quite a scare—when Malin came over, the Immortal Master side issued an alert immediately—according to their reports, an existence with at least Great Demon-level strength had directly entered New Hangzhou’s central core area.
Fortunately, the Sage Yu’s side sent a notice, otherwise, New Hangzhou would have begun evacuating the city population and ringing the big bell to summon all kinds of Legends to fight desperately.
After handling all the issues, Malin finally asked Sage Yu what the matter was calling him.
"Sorry, we have a Chaotic Infiltrator within us." Sage Yu said with a heavy face.
Malin was stunned: "Within us?"
"Yes, within New Hangzhou." Sage Yu indicated for Malin to sit down and then told Malin everything that had happened recently, in detail.
First, like Westland, the Eastern Land also has a harvest festival celebration in September, which is only ten days away. It should have been a very happy occasion, but early this morning, a group of Adventurers who returned from a vacation in the North reported discovering a dead body outside the North Gate of New Hangzhou, on a deserted ridge.
