Chapter 1362: Chapter 1360: Blood Moon (Part 2)
There are two continents, east and west, in the Bloodmoon Realm.
Lande City, where Ronan Raymond resides, is located on the Western Continent, a vast territory divided by kingdoms and duchies of various sizes, but most of it is shrouded in perennial fog.
Among the many nations, the Kingdom of Invia is remarkably strong in terms of territorial scale, economy, and military prowess.
Yet, the Kingdom of Invia also faces formidable adversaries.
Through organizing memories from his predecessor, Wang Chen learned that the Bloodmoon Realm is a world where technology and mysticism coexist.
The overall level of technology is comparable to that of the early to mid-19th century in his previous life. Steam machinery is highly prevalent, steam trains and ships appeared early on, and cities even have rudimentary electrical systems, with appliances like electric lights and fans available.
Cars are still quite new and expensive, with daily commuting relying on horse-drawn carriages, rickshaws, and bicycles. Weapons include cold arms such as longswords, battle axes, and daggers, as well as firearms like pistols, rifles, and cannons.
However, at the same time, this world also has demons, demon hunters, witches, and bloodkin!
Demons refer to mutated animals influenced by the power of the Blood Moon, and various bizarre demons are the greatest threat people often encounter outside cities and in the wild.
Correspondingly, there are demon hunters among humans specialized in hunting these demons.
As for witches, they are transcendents capable of casting spells with the power of the Blood Moon, small in number and extremely mysterious.
Many stories and legends exist about witches, but one thing is certain: witches are mortal enemies of the Church of Yala and must be publicly burned if captured.
Yala is the goddess of light, the embodiment of the sun.
The people of the Western Continent generally worship Goddess Yara, whereas witches worship the Blood Moon.
Bloodkin are also transcendents, and it’s said they possess eternal life, but everything about them is shrouded in secrecy.
The predecessor had a humble background and neither the qualifications nor the ability to attend university, so his understanding of this world was pretty much the same as that of ordinary people.
Ronan Raymond’s biological father, Malcolm Raymond, held the title of Baron and owned an estate with over a thousand mu of land, enjoying decent economic conditions.
However, this Baron was quite a philanderer, with a reproductive capacity greater than a pig’s, fathering over thirty children over time.
Most of them were illegitimate.
Ronan Raymond was one of them.
Illegitimates certainly have no inheritance rights, and Malcolm Raymond couldn’t possibly invest resources in them, so at sixteen, they’d receive a sum of money and be sent away or married off.
This might sound not too bad, but in fact, Ronan Raymond had been working in the estate alongside serfs and laborers since he could understand things, never enjoying the slightest benefit of a noble young master.
Ronan Raymond, however, was quite diligent, studying very hard at school and training even harder, mastering Invian combat techniques and cross swordsmanship, and even practiced marksmanship.
Unfortunately, reserve officers didn’t have the right to carry guns or swords, and when an incident occurred, he was merely carrying a police baton and got ambushed by a rock thrown at his head, dying on the spot!
Truly an unlucky demise.
After sorting out the predecessor’s memories, Wang Chen, or Ronan, began contemplating the path he should take next.
This world lacks Spiritual Energy; at least, he can’t perceive even a tiny bit of it now.
The laws of the Bloodmoon Realm clearly restrict Taoist Skills’ cultivation and application to the greatest extent, having their own transcendental system.
Ronan tried calling upon the Cultivation Panel again.
But it was unsuccessful.
Apparently, it’s also due to the world’s laws!
Nonetheless, Ronan wasn’t panicked at all because he possesses a powerful Divine Soul, and can still cultivate his self-created Spiritual Energy.
Spiritual Energy is undoubtedly Wang Chen’s greatest reliance in the Spiritless World and the reason he dared to descend into the Bloodmoon Realm.
Strengthening Physique, honing spirit, boosting Spiritual Energy, seeking The Way of Transcendence…
This was the successful path Wang Chen had once walked, and he plans to walk it again, slowly unveiling this world’s reality and acquiring the invaluable world source.
If someone could take away the world source from the Bloodmoon Realm, present Ronan believes he can achieve it too!
A strong spirit brings Ronan great confidence.
He laid back down, closed his eyes, introspected himself, and let his thoughts slowly sink into the Sea of Consciousness, silently perceiving the surrounding world.
Unbeknownst to him, the Ancient Taoist Stele deep in the Sea of Consciousness quietly emerged, emitting a faint glow.
The endless long night quietly passed.
The next morning, Ronan awoke to the noise outside.
The heavy wheels creaked over the worn stone road, rumbling, with the “bang bang bang” sound approaching, accompanied by an old, rough shouting voice: “Attention everyone, the dung cart is here!”
Ronan got up and opened the room’s only small window, sticking his head out to look down.
Only to see an ox cart slowly passing through the streets, its huge wooden barrels swaying and emitting an entrancing odor.
A number of disheveled women ran out from the houses on both sides carrying wooden chamber pots.
Dumping the accumulated waste from the previous day.
Lande City is considered a big city with a history of several hundred years and boasts a well-constructed drainage system.
But for most residents, flush toilets are still quite a luxury, with them mostly found in homes of the nobility and merchant families.
Ronan’s residence was in a civilian area, with few households having flush toilets; everyone either used public toilets for their needs or kept them in wooden chamber pots.
Then they would dump them into the dung cart to be transported away come morning.
These wastes would be sent to the countryside for unified fermentation, used to fertilize the fields.
This was actually not bad; at least it was far superior to the practice of randomly dumping nightsoil in streets and the invention of high heels because of it.
Ronan glanced once and then closed the window.
It’s worth mentioning; this was a habit the predecessor developed after renting this place.
As for the reason, it was because the women dumping chamber pots below were often dressed in pajamas or nightgowns, and looking down from above, one could always see a patch of whiteness.
Forgive a youth just coming of age, it was merely out of curiosity and youthful impulsiveness.
But at heart, he was still kind and spirited.
Sitting at the small desk, Ronan untied the bandage on his head.
The police station’s healing medicine worked quite well, combined with this body’s decent constitution, the wound on his forehead had scabbed over, although still somewhat daunting.
Ronan touched the indent, and a cold light flickered in his eyes.
After one night, his Spiritual Energy had already reached the First Ring level.
First Ring Spiritual Power was still very weak, but the core-changed Ronan was already capable of doing something.
Like avenging the predecessor!
