Chapter 591: Five hundred and eighty-six, do not skimp on praise
After crossing mountains and fording streams from such a faraway place.
Gu Chen naturally went to receive them personally in the afternoon.
At Chuan City Airport.
A cargo plane slowly landed on the runway.
At the arrival gate, Gu Chen waited for a while.
Then he saw several blond foreigners walking over.
They looked very spirited and were wearing very proper suits.
The impression they gave was as if their faces constantly radiated the words "successful people".
As they walked along, they also attracted many curious stares.
"Hello, may I ask if you are Mr. Gu?"
The leader was a woman.
Blond hair, blue eyes, with striking features.
Even though Gu Chen was basically face-blind to these foreigners,
he could still discern that the woman’s appearance was above average.
Most importantly, the woman had just spoken to Gu Chen in Chinese.
Nowadays, there weren’t as many foreigners learning Chinese as there would be ten years later.
After all, ten years later, the number of foreigners in some domestic cities would reach six figures.
Nowadays, it was considered good if one could assemble three figures.
"Hello, Gu Chen." Gu Chen politely shook hands with her.
"Hello, I am Amy, and these are the other members of our studio."
They introduced themselves to Gu Chen.
Gu Chen nodded after listening to them.
Then they proceeded to the back of the airport, which is where the cargo was unloaded from the plane.
To transport all these sound systems and such, they had directly chartered a small cargo plane.
When several massive objects were unloaded from the plane, Gu Chen felt that his bar was already half successful.
"Our engineers will arrive tomorrow, and then we can install everything for Mr. Gu.
I hear Mr. Gu plans to open a bar?"
Amy clearly understood what a bar meant.
"Yes, I’m planning to give it a try," Gu Chen nodded.
At the very least, communicating with someone who understood what a bar was saved Gu Chen a lot of time.
"Mr. Gu, you are very bold, although I do think this is a place that can be transcended.
But are you really sure that a bar will align with most people’s consumption concept?
I think you could also try starting with a cinema.
Our sound systems are also very good in cinemas."
At that time, Amy even offered Gu Chen a suggestion.
As for the bar, she still had her doubts about it.
Gu Chen had already spent over a hundred thousand on this set of sound equipment.
Including synchronized lighting systems.
All of it was crafted with chips and technology.
With such high costs, Gu Chen’s bar would not likely be a low-priced establishment.
So, she thought Gu Chen could start with a cinema.
In an era when cinemas were still very rudimentary,
if Gu Chen used this sound system to open a cinema, coupled with a screen that could meet resolution standards, it would definitely give a strong visual impact.
"Everything in this world can be sold, or it might not sell.
The important thing is not the price of the product but the methods of marketing,"
said Gu Chen, smiling as he explained to her.
Amy’s eyes lit up when she heard Gu Chen’s words.
It seemed she never expected such a phrase to come from Gu Chen’s mouth.
For a moment, she looked at Gu Chen with admiration.
"Mr. Gu, you are different from the other people I’ve met."
She said to Gu Chen with a smile.
After all the cargo had been moved, Gu Chen found two trucks to deliver the goods to his bar.
Gu Chen was the kind of client who’d charter an entire cargo plane.
After all, airports could offer some trucks for free.
Planes hadn’t yet become a common commodity for everyone.
A client like Gu Chen could easily be considered a major customer by the airport.
While these goods were being delivered to the company, Gu Chen and Amy’s team waited here for the engineers to arrive.
Then, in what felt like just two hours’ time,
a jetliner slowly touched down on the ground.
Among the people who disembarked, it was easy to spot their team’s engineers.
After all, there were only three foreigners among so many people.
Once everyone from their studio had arrived,
Gu Chen looked at Amy and said, "Let’s go get some food first."
"No need, let’s just head to the bar."
As per traditional Chinese culture, it was natural to offer a feast to welcome and clean off the dust of travel.
But it looked like Amy and her colleagues didn’t care about these things at all.
So he didn’t say much more.
"I can take one person in my car, and the rest of you can follow in a cab," Gu Chen told the others from their studio.
At this, Amy quickly said, "Then I’ll ride in your car."
Everyone headed outside of the airport together.
Along the way, many people stared at them, wholly unexpecting to see so many foreigners here.
Gu Chen led Amy towards his car.
When they got to the vehicle, Gu Chen gallantly opened the car door for her.
Amazement flashed through the eyes of those who saw Gu Chen’s car.
"Mr. Gu, is this your car?" Amy asked in surprise.
"Yes, get in," said Gu Chen.
Amy took the passenger seat in Gu Chen’s car.
The others had to take a cab and follow behind Amy’s car.
While in the passenger seat, Amy couldn’t help but praise Gu Chen, "Mr. Gu, you really are different from others; you’re a man of great taste."
From the moment they left the plane until now, Gu Chen felt that Amy had complimented him nearly a dozen times already.
Gu Chen found it a bit laughable yet flattering, even though such generous praise was a good thing.
But it was a bit too much from start to end.
When they arrived at Gu Chen’s bar,
he went up and tore down the seals and the like.
Since acquiring the place, he had never actually come to take a look.
Today was his first visit.
Upon opening the door, the first thing one could see was an area resembling that of a bathhouse for changing shoes.
It could also be called a lounge or a queueing area.
There were rows of sofas lined up tightly against the walls on the outside.
Straight ahead was a dark corridor.
Following this corridor would lead to a crossroad.
Left was the exit, right was the entrance.
Gu Chen and his group took the right entrance further inside.
Paintings hung on both sides of the corridor walls.
The artworks were rather interesting, all filled with depictions of women.
These pieces seemed to tell the bar’s patrons what theme the establishment embraced.
Finally, after following the semi-U-shaped corridor out,
an open space appeared.
The entire area was much like a place for watching comic dialogues,
with seating arrangements that were exceedingly orderly.
And the only thing that Gu Chen found noteworthy,
was a bartender’s station in the very center of the venue.
This was probably the only thing worth keeping.
