Stay Home Daddy: I Was Reborn After My Daughter Passed Away -
Chapter 353 Daddy Comes Back_1
Chapter 353: 353 Daddy Comes Back_1
At night, Gu Chen and Ji Pianran, along with their daughter, Tiantian, shared a warm dinner at home.
Their daughter had finally seen her favorite grandparents again these past few days, and was nearly bursting with joy.
And for the grandparents, their affection for their granddaughter Tiantian knew no bounds.
Just today, they had even gone so far as to book an entire amusement park in Chuan City just for her.
They spent the entire day with Tiantian in a frenzy of fun, and her excitement hadn’t subsided even when Gu Chen returned home in the evening.
It wasn’t until after ten o’clock at night that Tiantian finally fell asleep on her princess bed.
Gu Chen put down the fairy tale book in his hands and watched his daughter’s sweet sleeping face.
He couldn’t help but kiss her forehead and tucked her in more tightly.
Tiantian was quite restless in her sleep, often kicking off her blankets.
In the past, Tiantian used to sleep with either him or Ji Pianran, so it wasn’t much of a problem.
But now Tiantian had grown up a bit and had her own room, so it was no longer appropriate for them to always sleep together.
Thinking this, Gu Chen carefully checked the doors and windows again, as the temperature in Chuan City could still get quite low at night.
As someone who was acutely aware of this, he did not want his daughter to catch a cold.
Only after making sure everything was secure did he turn off the lights in the room and set the air conditioning to a comfortable temperature.
Then, Gu Chen quietly left the room.
A mountain of paper drafts and scattered pencils lay on the living room table; seeing this, Gu Chen couldn’t help but smile and shake his head.
He walked forward and saw that Ji Pianran was leaning on the living room sofa, lost in thought.
Gu Chen wrapped his arms around her, and the faint fragrance from his wife’s body filled his nostrils.
He found the scent so pleasant that he could never get enough of it.
"If you’re tired, you can continue drawing tomorrow. We already have plenty of money. Xu Corporation has closed down, and the Ji Family’s business in Chuan City is thriving. Pianran, you don’t need to work so hard."
Gu Chen spoke with a look of deep concern on his face, as Ji Pianran’s rest seemed to grow shorter by the day.
All her time was almost entirely spent on new clothing designs, and if it weren’t for Xu Qingmu occupying his mind as a formidable opponent, Gu Chen would have suggested her to take it easy sooner.
However, upon hearing his words, Ji Pianran’s expression immediately showed a hint of hesitation.
Her gaze fell on the neat stack of design drafts on the table, and her eyes couldn’t help but fill with a lingering affection.
After a moment, though, she seemed to come to some kind of decision, her eyes moist as she seriously looked up at Gu Chen’s face.
"Husband, there’s something I want to talk to you about."
"Hmm? What is it?" Gu Chen asked, somewhat puzzled.
Ji Pianran’s voice was low, tinged with guilt, as she quietly leaned against him,
"Gu Chen, you know, Dad’s health has never been very good. And now he’s getting older, and the family responsibilities are growing, so I was thinking, maybe this time we could stay in Chuan City to help him manage the business, so he wouldn’t be as tired as he is now."
She paused, lifting her head to look at Gu Chen. She opened her mouth as if to say more, but in the end couldn’t continue.
But Gu Chen had already understood what she meant.
"You want me and Tiantian to stay in Chuan City as well, right?"
Ji Pianran’s eyes drooped, she didn’t want to leave Gu He and her daughter.
Yet, she couldn’t bear to see her father, at such an old age, continue to toil away.
Once, she had run away from an arranged marriage for the sake of her own future, but now, after becoming a mother,
she had gradually come to realize the hardships her parents faced, which was why she was now willing to give up her dream of being a designer,
to try being a strong woman in charge of the family and corporate business, also shouldering the responsibilities that rightfully belonged to her.
However, she also knew that doing so was unfair to Gu He, considering his parents and family were still in Haicheng,
not to mention the career he had worked so hard to build.
If he stayed with her, he might have to give up all that he had achieved so far.
Moreover, she actually hoped that Gu He could take care of their daughter more when she was busy,
since the Ji Family already had more than enough money, and no matter how much bigger Gu He’s business grew, it wouldn’t really matter.
In comparison, Ji Pianran felt that their daughter’s growth was more important.
Gu He was able to understand his wife’s intentions and subsequently couldn’t help but scratch his head, smiling nonchalantly as he said, "It seems, my dear wife, that in the future I can only live off your earnings."
Ji Pianran’s expression became startled for a moment; she hadn’t expected Gu He to agree so readily.
In fact, she had been so worried about this matter beforehand that she had hardly been able to eat, not knowing how to broach the subject.
But now, it seemed all her worries were unnecessary.
"Husband, I really didn’t mean that I want you to live off me, it’s just that I thought this way you could relax a little, not having to worry about the hustle of the business world, and you could spend every day with our daughter. And since Tangtang is starting kindergarten, we won’t have it easy..."
Ji Pianran found herself unable to continue, despite wanting to explain. However she put it, she felt she might be asking too much.
After all, the most mainstream values of this era still dictate that men should be the breadwinners while women take care of the home.
When she married Gu He, she had never thought that one day she would return to the Ji Family.
But now everything had come so suddenly, and Ji Pianran’s heart was filled with guilt.
She felt Gu He had sacrificed far too much for her and their home.
However, Gu He didn’t feel as troubled by the situation as Ji Pianran imagined, even feeling somewhat indifferent about it.
It’s just being a stay-at-home dad, after all, spending the days leisurely and looking after the child is not so bad.
Besides, he could still enjoy his business as usual, he could easily take a few days to go back and check on things, which also seemed nice to him.
In his past life, there were many people like this, and he didn’t see anything particularly surprising about it.
As for the Haicheng storefronts, it wasn’t as convenient to manage them remotely as it used to be,
but thankfully, he had left reliable people there.
Moreover, with Second Brother Gu He helping to look after things, Gu He was quite confident in relying on him.
Although his eldest brother Gu Zhigang was unreliable, it was precisely because of that unreliability that he had stayed back in the rural family home to accompany and take care of their parents.
As for the stores, if need be, he could simply fly back regularly for inspections.
Thinking this, Gu He’s mood instantly relaxed, and he wrapped his arms around his wife’s slim waist, smiling as he spoke.
"Don’t worry, Pian Ran, whatever you want to do, I’ll support you. I’ll take care of our daughter from now on, especially with the way my parents have spoiled her rotten recently, running around everywhere. It’s indeed not good for Tangtang’s development. I’ll go with her to enroll in kindergarten tomorrow!"
