Chapter 9: Excessive Magic Consumption? Only Magic Replenishment Will Do

“So that’s why you let Kasumigaoka-san demonstrate her skills?” Rias finally understood, her gaze shifting to Lynn with a complex expression. “Was that also part of your plan?”

Lynn’s expression carried a hint of feigned surprise, as if he’d been caught. Basic skills like these could never satisfy him. He had skimmed through the black-covered book a few times already. Too much theory, endless repetition—it was long-winded and dull.

The remaining magical abilities were equally unimpressive, things like automatic writing and illumination. The only spell of real value was the teleportation magic, Cube Array Jump. Other than that, there were barely any powerful, large-scale, or practical spells.

Since he was here, Lynn naturally wanted to get his hands on something worthwhile. So when he noticed Rias’s curiosity about Shi Yu’s abilities, he simply went along with it.

It didn’t hurt to try.

Rias had taken the bait. She was genuinely curious about what Kasumigaoka Utaha, this so-called Secretary Demon, was capable of.

Rias sighed, then smiled helplessly. “Alright, you win.” She turned to the side. “Akeno, bring me the Lightning Magic scroll.”

“Yes, President.”

Himejima Akeno moved without hesitation. She never questioned Rias’s decisions.

A moment later, Rias placed a parchment scroll in front of Lynn. “This is Lightning Magic—a super-tier spell. It’s the most advanced magic I currently possess.”

Lynn’s gaze flickered toward Himejima Akeno. If he remembered correctly, her abilities were lightning-based. So, Rias had brought out her best trump card.

Unrolling the scroll, he took a brief glance.

Yeah, completely incomprehensible. Losing interest instantly, he casually passed it to Kasumigaoka Utaha.

“It’s all yours, Shi Yu Beast.”

She ignored the nickname this time, too excited to care. With bright eyes, she eagerly took the Lightning Magic scroll.

Super-tier magic! Even the name sounded impressive!

Her admiration for Lynn grew. With just a few words, he had managed to make the demon princess offer up such a powerful spell.

Suppressing her excitement, Kasumigaoka Utaha unrolled the parchment. The densely packed text made her dizzy. She couldn’t understand a single word.

Fortunately, she had some experience from the Cube Array Jump spell. She started copying right away.

As she worked, Rias explained, “Super-tier magic refers to spells with the power of a demon king. It’s that simple.”

“Alright, done!” Kasumigaoka Utaha stared at the fresh text in the Demon Book, eager to test it. Instinctively, she gathered her magic to cast the spell.

“Wait!”

Rias’s eye twitched as she stopped her just in time. “The power of lightning magic is too much for this room. Let’s take it outside.”

That had been close—her Supernatural Research Club had almost been reduced to rubble.

Kasumigaoka Utaha blinked, realizing her mistake. “Uh… sorry.”

Rias shook her head, signaling it was fine, then led the way outside.

Behind the Supernatural Research Club, in an open clearing, the Demon Book floated before Kasumigaoka Utaha. Its pages fluttered rapidly, filling the air with a rustling sound.

“Lightning Strike!” she chanted.

The pages stopped, locking onto a specific spell. A one-meter-wide blue magic circle appeared in the air.

Crackle!

Without hesitation, a pillar of blue lightning, as thick as an oak tree, burst forth!

BOOM!

The bolt struck the ground, instantly creating a crater a meter in diameter. Snakes of electricity slithered across the scorched earth, crackling wildly.

So powerful!

Kasumigaoka Utaha stared in shock. She could hardly believe she had produced something like this. But… she felt exhausted.

Her legs buckled, and she collapsed backward into something firm and warm.

Lynn caught her easily, observing her condition before making a quick judgment.

She had overexerted herself—her magic was completely drained.

Rias stepped forward. “Kasumigaoka-san is probably still a lower-tier demon. That last attack must have depleted her magic entirely.”

She glanced at Kasumigaoka Utaha, confirming that she was fine, before shifting her gaze toward the crater. She actually managed to cast it.

Though the spell’s full power hadn’t been unleashed due to her lack of strength, the technique was flawlessly executed.

No cost, no drawbacks—she had simply recorded the spell’s information and cast it. And if super-tier magic wasn’t the limit of this recording ability…

Wasn’t this power a bit too broken?

Suppressing her thoughts for now, Rias looked at the utterly drained Kasumigaoka Utaha, still resting weakly in Lynn’s arms.

“Why don’t you restore her magic, Lynn?” she suggested.

“It seems like the only option.”

Magic replenishment? How?

Kasumigaoka Utaha was too drained to speak, barely managing to open her eyes. She wanted to see how this so-called magic replenishment worked.

Then… she saw Lynn’s face getting closer.

Wait

Something felt off.

Mm—

Her lips—something was pressing against them…

Her body was getting hot. And something was flowing into her…
