Standing Next To You
Chapter 79: Summoned

Chapter 79: Summoned

"Sanju, did you really do those things?" Lin Sunji’s friends, who had been shocked by the turn of events, questioned her.

Lin Sunji raised her head and saw the skeptical gazes of her friends. Anger welled up inside her as she felt their judgment.

These were the same people who had benefited from her actions in the past, yet they seemed quick to turn their backs on her now.

But for now, she had to suppress her emotions and ensure that her involvement in the incident remained a secret.

If people learned she was the mastermind, her reputation would go down the drain.

She had to keep these people’s mouths shut.

With a heavy sigh, she responded, "What can I say? She held you guys captive, and she was determined to break my legs. If I didn’t cooperate with her, all of us would have been harmed. It’s fine if it’s just me."

Lin Sunji shed more tears and put on a convincing act, making it appear as though she had sacrificed herself for her friends.

Her friends exchanged uncertain glances, their trust in her now wavering.

Lin Sunji’s friends had their doubts about the situation, but they were also concerned for her well-being.

They helped her get up and listened as Lin Sunji expressed her worries about Bei Sangyun’s actions.

"I am fine," Lin Sunji reassured them. "But I need you guys to do me a favor. My cousin is being too much this time. I can no longer overlook this, especially after she is trying to put the blame on me. I don’t want you or any of my friends to get hurt."

Her friends exchanged glances, unsure of what to do. Lin Sunji pleaded with them, and they finally asked, "What do you want us to do?"

Lin Sunji’s eyes flashed with conviction. "I want you to stand witness."

Since everything was exposed to Bei Sangyun, then all she need to do was to go all out and attack before that bitch could.

’Bei Sangyun, I’ll make sure you will deeply regret what happened today.’

Fei Chuan regained consciousness in an unfamiliar and dimly lit place.

The pain in the back of his neck was a harsh reminder that he was kidnapped.

He looked around and found machinery and dust all around. He must be in an abandoned warehouse.

He attempted to move, but he was securely tied to a pole. He could not help but curse inwardly.

He should have taken caution. Why did he get into the car without hesitation? Did that towel and shirt make him stupid?

He knew beforehand that Bei Sangyun was suspicious and she could not be trusted. She had been tormenting him since he transferred, why would she suddenly change and befriend him?

She must be pretending to help him so that she could put this plan to reality. So she was resorting to kidnapping now?

Fei Chuan did not doubt anyone at all, other than Bei Sangyun. He felt so stupid for believing her ’kindness’ for a moment.

"Finally awake?" A rough voice came from the front. And a man with a crew cut appeared in his vision.

It was the driver that Bei Sangyun had sent.

"What does she wants to do?" Fei Chuan asked.

His gaze was firm and unafraid. He was tied helplessly and he could not run. So there was no use of panicking or being afraid.

He was nervous about the incoming pain, but he did not want to cry and beg.

Bei Sangyun must be watching somewhere. He did not want to show his weak cowardly side. He would prove to her that he wasn’t afraid of her.

"You got such intense eyes. But I bet they will lose their light the moment I break every bone in your body."

"Is that what she wants? To cripple me? I wonder why she had to act so discreetly about it."

Despite the fear and uncertainty, Fei Chuan maintained a firm and unafraid gaze.

The man just shook his head, "Just blame yourself for being unlucky."

As the man took a step towards him, Fei Chuan’s heartbeat quickened. He was still a young boy who was afraid of impending pain. He could not help but be nervous.

But at that moment, the man’s phone rang.

The man did not like to be disrupted while doing his job. But this phone had only one contact number. So there was only one person who could call him at this critical moment.

And as expected it was the boss.

The boss gave a strange order. She told him to send their current address and to not harm the target. The call quickly ended before he could say anything.

The man had been working in this field for a long time and he knew something must have gone wrong in the employer’s part.

"I guess it’s your lucky day." The man said to Fei Chuan before running away.

Fei Chuan: "...."

Fei Chuan couldn’t believe his luck but realized that he was still tied up. He called after the man, "Hey! Untie me before you leave!"

"He’s safe now, Young Miss. We’re currently escorting him to the hotel. However, the man who took him has vanished without a trace. He ditched his phone near the warehouse, making it impossible for us to track him. We’re doing our best to locate him."

Bei Sangyun gripped her phone tightly and inquired, "Was he injured?"

Her contact on the other end reassured her, "He sustained a minor injury to the back of his head, but otherwise, he seems fine. There are no other serious injuries."

A sigh of relief escaped Bei Sangyun as she processed this information.

Fei Chuan appeared to be unharmed, aside from the existing issue with his ankle. The threat of a repeat of their past ordeal was averted.

"Please ensure he reaches the hotel safely and keep me updated on the search for that man."

"Of course, Young Miss."

With the call concluded, Bei Sangyun leaned back in the car’s seat, the oppressive weight on her chest slowly fading.

"Are we still heading to the warehouse?" The driver broke the silence.

Bei Sangyun shook her head, deciding against it. "No, let’s go to the hospital."

There was no need to personally check on Fei Chuan. As long as he was safe, that would be enough.

Grandma Bei was still waiting for her.

As the car moved towards its destination, Bei Sangyun’s phone rang again. It was Butler Xin.

"Master, where are you now?"

"I’m on my way to the hospital."

"Did you stir up trouble that I don’t know about?"

Bei Sangyun paused. Butler Xin sounded anxious. And he rarely got anxious unless it was related to the old man.

It seemed Lin Sunji did not take her warning.

"What’s the situation?" Bei Sangyun calmly asked.

Butler Xin explained, "The Fourth Branch has requested a meeting with Master Lin. It seemed something happened to Lin Sunji, and they’re placing the blame on you. Your father has been summoned as well, and they’re all waiting for your arrival. It’s best not to keep them waiting."

"Alright. I’m on my way."

As the call ended, Bei Sangyun instructed the driver to head to the Lin mansion.

She sent a quick message to her grandmother, informing her that she wouldn’t be able to come tonight.

Gazing out the car window, Bei Sangyun observed the passing scenery.

No matter if it was the past or present, the Lin family never change.
