Standing Next To You
Chapter 121: Finding Her Weakness

Chapter 121: Finding Her Weakness

Bei Sangyun alighted from the car while humming a song. Butler Xin glanced at her strangely.

"Did something good happen at school?"

Something good..?

Bei Sangyun glanced at her feet. She wriggled her toes with a smile. "Something like that."

Butler Xin: ?

"Has Grandma left the country already?"

"Yes. She left twenty minutes ago. She will arrive in Country A tomorrow at noon."

"Make sure everything she needs is ready. I want to talk to her as soon as she arrives."

"Don’t worry too much. I’ve stationed a lot of men around her, and Guard Huang will make sure she is safe."

Bei Sangyun nodded. Once her grandma was safely admitted to the hospital, she would no longer be restrained.

"Master, about the intel you gave me. Where did you get such accurate information?"

Butler Xin had received a file from Bei Sangyun the day he submitted to call her ’Master’. It was a long list of companies she wanted Butler Xin to invest in.

At first, Butler Xin was skeptical because these companies were just starting, and some were even in a bad situation.

They didn’t look like they were worth investing in at all. However, Bei Sangyun insisted on investing in these companies and even put the money she had never touched before into them.

Seeing how serious she was, Butler Xin had no choice but to follow her will.

However, after a few weeks of observing these companies, Butler Xin was stunned to find out their growth after the investment.

Although the change was minimal, he could see the direction these companies were heading in. Given ten or more years, these companies would become a huge success that everyone wanted to get a piece of. He did not hesitate anymore and bought more shares.

"From a very reliable source," Bei Sangyun vaguely replied.

"Master, how about we buy more than half of their shares while its value is low? The company will be ours then."

"No," Bei Sangyun scrutinized Butler Xin closely, "Don’t be too greedy. I told you to invest in them to support them. If we buy too much and they realize what we are up to, our supposed allies will become our enemies. What’s more important is not getting their company but their trust."

Butler Xin was taken aback. He awkwardly scratched his head.

Bei Sangyun was right. Money had momentarily blinded him. He felt embarrassed for not seeing the bigger picture and having a teenager point it out to him.

In business, money was a priority, but trust was golden.

"I apologize."

Bei Sangyun nodded. "I’ll send another email for you. Once you have enough budget, buy them all."

"Buy what, all?"

"You’ll see."

Bei Sangyun arrived in the living room.

"Sangyun!" A pair of arms hugged her. Bei Sangyun almost pushed Sophia away in instinct, fortunately she stopped herself in time.

"Let go," she said coldly.

Sophia pouted. "I’ve been waiting for you all day. How can you be so cold to me? Uncle Ginxian said you’d take me to the mall today."

Bei Sangyun smiled coldly. "I haven’t forgotten. I’ll just change quickly, and then we can go."

"Really? Then I’ll call my brother!" Sophia ran outside.

Bei Sangyun looked at her disappearing back coldly. Her good mood had been ruined by that damn girl.

Bei Sangyun dusted off her uniform, trying to remove Sophia’s lingering touch.

Coming to the Lin mansion felt like returning to the house of nightmares. How she wished the day would end soon, and school would come sooner.

***

It was deep in the night, and the guest room was cluttered with shopping bags.

"I’m starting to get impatient with her brother. I lost my smile so many times today," Sophia said irritably.

Earlier at the shopping mall, she had tried to get Lin Sangyun on her side. She had been overly sweet and friendly, making numerous openings and giving her many chances to win her over. But that damn girl had been as unyielding as an iron lady.

Sophia gazed at a certain shopping bag, unable to help herself from kicking it. "I told her to hold it, but she just left it there. She clearly has no intention of getting on our good side."

Richard, seemingly indifferent, was absorbed in his phone. "It was so obvious what you were trying to do earlier. You asked her to carry your things many times. If I were her, I’d not only leave them on the floor, but I’d dump them in the trash."

Sophia glared angrily at her brother, took his phone, and threw it on the sofa. "Whose side are you on?"

"Hey, I was still texting my girlfriend."

"Lin Xiaoni?"

"No, girlfriend number 3."

Sophia: "..."

She sat back on the couch and crossed her arms. "This won’t do. That Sangyun doesn’t seem to care about her illegitimate status. Could it be she has given up?"

"Do you think she’d be assigned as our host if she had given up? Xiaoni said that Sangyun and Sunji fought hard to get this role. So Sangyun still has motives towards us. Perhaps she’s doing this to rattle us."

Sophia sat up straight. "You think so?"

Richard touched his chin. "Father sometimes takes us to the forest to hunt, right? It’s just the same as this. I believe Sangyun is doing the same to us."

"She dared to play us?" Sophia said with gritted teeth. If that was true, then Bei Sangyun had succeeded in scheming against her. This made Sophia even angrier.

She could play the role of a hunter and her prey should remain a prey!

"To be honest, among the people here, Sangyun is the smartest and prettiest. I’ve set my eyes on her. However, I’ll save her for later. We must enjoy this hunting." Richard commented.

Sophia narrowed her eyes, contemplating Richard’s words. They seemed to make sense.

"Then what do you suggest? How do we turn that girl into our plaything?"

"Remember what Father said about hunting? We should know about the quarry first. We already know she is an illegitimate daughter. However, it doesn’t seem to be her weakness."

Sophia pondered Richard’s words, and then her eyes lit up. "It must be her father. Her father is the one who made her bring us out."

Richard narrowed his green eyes. "I don’t think it’s her father."

He still vividly remembered how Bei Sangyun had acted in her father’s presence. She hadn’t seemed afraid or particularly respectful toward the man. He could even subtly feel her disgust and hatred towards him.

Her indifference had extended to everyone, even to the head of the Lin family.

Richard might have been known for playing around with women, but he was observing everyone closely, particularly Bei Sangyun. She struck him as the most intriguing individual here.

"I think Xiaoni doesn’t know much, but Sunji might be holding something back." From his observations, Lin Sunji appeared to be more intelligent than Xiaoni, and she harbored a deep-seated resentment toward Bei Sangyun.

Since she saw Bei Sangyun as a threat, she probably had valuable information about her.

Sophia’s eyes lit up. "I’ll make some arrangements." She then looked at her brother. "So what’s your plan for Xiaoni?"

Richard shrugged, "She’s no fun. Too easy."

Sophia shook her head. It seemed like a girl was going to cry soon because of her brother.
