Chapter 119: A Good Pair

"What’s going on?" The PE instructor noticed their quarrel and approached them.

Bei Sangyun let go of Fei Chuan’s neck and moved away, allowing him to breathe a sigh of relief. It had been tough to pretend to be calm. He was afraid his loud heart would be heard by Bei Sangyun.

"He doesn’t know the steps," Bei Sangyun replied with her arms crossed.

"I know the steps. Our rhythms are just...off," Fei Chuan defended himself. He had memorized the steps by watching the other couples dance. It was all in his mind. He wasn’t a terrible dancer; he just couldn’t focus and kept losing his footing.

"Rhythm, huh?" The PE instructor pondered, then his eyes lit up. "Ah, let the best dancer teach you two about rhythm." He called out to the best pair in the entire three classes.

"Jang Shin, Lin Sunji, come here, you two."

The two stopped their dance and approached the PE instructor. He asked them if they could show their dance to Bei Sangyun and Fei Chuan.

Jang Shin agreed, while Lin Sunji looked mockingly at Bei Sangyun. She was delighted to show off her dancing skills to her.

The other pairs also stopped dancing and watched as Jang Shin and Lin Sunji took the floor. The other PE instructors encouraged the pairs in their class to pay attention to the performance.

Jang Shin and Lin Sunji were both exceptionally skilled. Their attractiveness was evident in their elegant movements. As the song finished, the entire gym erupted in applause, filled with admiration and cheers.

Lin Sunji basked in the attention and directed an arrogant smile at Bei Sangyun. "No need to pressure yourself after seeing our dance. Both Jang Shin and I have been tutored by our respective families. It’s understandable that you can’t keep up with us."

Fei Chuan was standing beside Bei Sangyun and overheard Lin Sunji’s mocking words. He narrowed his eyes at her.

The "our" in "our families" did not seem to include Bei Sangyun.

Bei Sangyun simply raised an eyebrow. She remained unprovoked. "Is that so? Good for you then."

Lin Sunji frowned. Her attempt to provoke Bei Sangyun had failed to elicit the expected reaction. It was like she punched a soft cotton. This made her even more irritated. Lin Sunji simply harrumphed in response.

Jang Shin approached the PE instructor. "Sir, how about I try leading Bei Sangyun in a dance? This way, Fei Chuan can have an idea by watching me."

"That’s a good idea!" The PE instructor then walked over to Bei Sangyun and Fei Chuan, sharing Jang Shin’s suggestion with them.

Fei Chuan glanced at Jang Shin. Learn by watching him? What, was he a toddler?

He narrowed his eyes, unwilling to accept the idea of learning from Jang Shin. Despite Jang Shin’s dancing skills, Fei Chuan believed he didn’t need anyone’s help.

Fei Chuan’s pride couldn’t accept that he would require guidance to understand the dance, especially not from someone like Jang Shin.

However, Fei Chuan anticipated that no one would side with him; they probably all saw him as the weak, dumb, inferior Fei Chuan. He expected Bei Sangyun to agree with Jang Shin’s idea.

To his surprise, Bei Sangyun shook her head. "No need. Fei Chuan is just messing around. He doesn’t need other people to show him."

Fei Chuan was stunned and looked back at Bei Sangyun with a profound gaze.

But the PE instructor insisted on the idea. It wasn’t just for Fei Chuan, but also for the other male students who were struggling with their positions.

Bei Sangyun then looked at Fei Chuan and asked, "Do you want me to practice with him?"

Fei Chuan was puzzled. "Why are you asking me?"

"Because you are my partner. If you don’t want to, then I won’t."

Fei Chuan couldn’t help but stare at Bei Sangyun. Did she really mean that?

He could not really understand Bei Sangyun. One moment, she made him feel like her greatest enemy, and the next, she made him feel special.

Was she a playgirl who knew just what to say to keep him off balance?

Fei Chuan tried to calm his fast heartbeat and lowered his eyes to hide the small bit of happiness he felt, despite not understanding why he felt this way.

"...It’s up to you."

Bei Sangyun nodded and was about to insist on not dancing with Jang Shin when Fei Chuan unexpectedly grabbed her arm. "On second thought, you should dance with him."

Bei Sanggyun: "?"

Fei Chuan pushed Bei Sangyun toward Jang Shin, "You said you are good at dancing. Why don’t you show it then?"

Bei Sangyun looked back at him, a bit puzzled.

Did she tell him she was good at dancing?

The music started, and Jang Shin took Bei Sangyun’s hand in his own.

"Please excuse me," he said, placing his other hand on her waist.

Bei Sangyun was familiar with Jang Shin, and thus, she was familiar with his rhythm. They began to dance, their movements akin to a calm flow of water. They glided gracefully across the polished floor, their actions harmonious as if they had danced together many times before. Elegant and fascinating, their performance was beautiful to watch, leaving everyone’s eyes captivated.

Fei Chuan watched them dance at the center, his eyes growing dim.

The amazement-filled voices of his classmates echoed around him.

"...Wow, I had no idea the tyrant is so good at dancing."

"Jang Shin is an excellent lead, but the tyrant’s dance complements his movements perfectly. This dance is far better than the pairing of Lin Sunji and Jang Shin."

"I couldn’t agree more. They look like celestial beings dancing together. It’s a shame they aren’t a pair."

Fei Chuan frowned and looked away, shifting his gaze to the person who should be watching the dance closely.

Lin Sunji observed the performance with envy and hatred, the words she’d thrown at Bei Sangyun earlier now feeling like a painful slap to her face.
