Chapter 174: -Arrival: Elite gathering-

While noticing that for some unknown reason, the front of the building was clear, and there were no cars, no bustling crowd, just green field grass and a big water fountain, Max got out of the car.

In fact, it didn’t seem like a school building, more like a lab or glass house due to how futuristic the structure was.

"How may I help you?" The security man acted cool and professional, without any belittling look in his eyes.

"Here." Getting out of his car, Max stretched out his arm to reveal the paper in his palms.

"Come with me." Nodding, without further ado the man turned and led them both across the stone-paved path for the next five minutes till they passed the water fountain, then stopped.

Max subtly raised his brow as the man came to a halt seeing there was at least five metres’ distance close to the door.

"You can walk inside the building on your own now after you hand over your car key." There was no threat in the man’s voice saying this.

Though a little suspicious and having noted the lack of cars in sight, Max placed his car key on the man’s outstretched palm.

With a curt nod, the man turned and walked away. Back towards the post.

Observing the Elite Building for a moment, Max resumed to walk forward.

The double doors of the Elite Building hissed open as he approached within two metres.

’This place must be strictly monitored then.’ Max noted, and then a moment later a wave of air-conditioned breeze welcomed him.

The lobby was wide and minimalist, with dark stone floors veined in faint gold and deep blue light tracing the walls. No school banners, no announcements—just quiet with no one in sight.

’Is this even a school?’

Just then, there was a distinct click and a chic lady came out of the door behind the receptionist desk.

’Wow.’ Max drew a mental breath.

A combination of voluptuous femininity with elegant slenderness. Busty chest and subtle curves inside a slender frame. Like a crafted work of art of a lustful sculptor. A body only said to exist in fantasy.

’Such perfect details... probably plastic surgery.’ Dosing his hormones in cold water, Max didn’t stop analysing the detail though.

First — she was wearing a black silk blouse with a deep V-line and collar that granted a promising imagination that one might be able to stuff their face between the ample peaks, cleavage, if they did well enough in their studies.

On the bottom, she wore high-waisted, wide-leg white tailored trousers with pleats that highlighted her waist and the enviable curves granted by her thighs.

Her face card game was top notch. Equal to celebrities...

"Even if you appear to be so subtle with those calm eyes, I can still feel your gaze roaming all over me, you’re not the first today."

Closing the door behind her with a slight shake of her head, the lady elegantly walked towards the desk, adjusting the seat to take a seat.

Silent, Max said nothing in response to what she said and neither did his facial expression change or contract in the slightest.

He watched her sit and then walked towards the desk.

"Good day..." taking a polite pause, he continued. "... I was asked to bring this here."

"Huh?" Elegantly raising her brow with a puzzled glint in her eyes, she looked him up and down and stretched out her hand.

"Paper?"

Max handed it over without speaking.

She scanned it, and threw him a glance.

"Double S?... Very impressive."

"Thank you." Max responded in a curt neutral tone.

Silently observing his appearance for a moment, she added.

"Though you look smart and sharp. Probably performed an incredible feat to make you skyrocket two major Ranks, the competition to go any further is very intense and may lead to life-threatening situations." Saying this, she reached under her desk and handed him a black leather band with a silver sigil shaped like a rising sun.

"You can use this till you get your insignia. A proof of your Rank. Also, you’ve been assigned to Class 2."

Max listened attentively and finally nodded.

Then she pointed at the only other door in sight, different from the one she just exited.

"That’s a one-way elevator. Use it."

Though the direction she gave was as bland as the one a child would give, Max gave her a thankful nod and turned to leave.

"Wait..."

He heard her call and stopped to glance back.

"I can sense you’re different... So I’ll let you grab a feel the next time we meet."

Waving her thumbs at him with a straight face like it was a normal thing, Max’s neutral expression cracked, and he then silently nodded at her.

"Thanks."

Strapping the band around his wrist as he stepped inside the elevator, the door closed behind him.

Ding!

A light doorbell sounded and Max felt the elevator in motion.

However, to his biggest surprise, the elevator didn’t feel like it was heading up but downward instead.

Two minutes later the elevator finally came to a stop.

Already filled with conception of what might be crazy but a correct guess no one that hasn’t been promoted to S Rank would be able to imagine.

’The Elite Building is some kind of underground facility?’

...

Access Wing.

"Quick! Another one is coming."

"Really, fuck,! Head to the Access Wing and place your bets on those likely to use the Access elevator."

Quite the contrast to what those who held them in high esteem would imagine. S Elites were a rogue bunch.

So far there had been 20 people who came down from the elevator. First year, second year, third year seniors.

And anytime the bell was rung for a new arrival they would all run to the Access Wing to gamble on the identity of newcomers.

"50 Grand in Alex from Second Year."

"300 Grand on Rebecca from Third Year..."

The bet went on and on as they all waited in anticipation, ready to cash out big.

However, when the elevator opened, the atmosphere fell dead silent.
