SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God -
Chapter 246: No way out
Chapter 246: No way out
Azuna’s palm pressed forward, and the blood-earth chains twisted with a mind of their own, more jutting out of the ground and finding their target. They coiled tighter and erupted in violent crimson thorns that pierced through the wyrm’s wings and wrapped around its limbs like executioner’s ropes.
The lances struck next. One by one, they slammed into the wyrm’s body, fiery decoys meant to distract and wound. The real one buried itself right into the wyrm’s side, exploding with a thunderous roar that blew away a chunk of its armor-plated flesh. The wyrm bellowed, twisting in agony, completely not expecting an attack of this magnitude.
Blood poured out of its wings, which Damon happily absorbed, not even leaving behind a single lick of it.
At the same time, Azuna whispered something in a tongue lost to time. The blood orb in her hand shot forward towards the wyrm, and even though the wyrm erected a shield to protect itself, it was of no use.
Even as the orb made contact with the fire shield, crimson tendrils seeped out of the blood orb into the shield and then onto the wyrm. The beast roared in confusion. More and more tendrils started seeping inside, and the wyrm was suddenly out of its depth, unsure of what to do about this attack.
Its entire body lit up in flames, and yet the crimson tendrils refused to yield. Threads of crimson light branched out from the core of the orb like a spreading infection, racing through the wyrm’s veins. The orb bloomed inside it.
From the outside, its body began to glow with eerie red fractures, as if it had been shattered from within and barely held together by raw fury. It stumbled, wings jerking erratically as the corruption took hold.
And then the curse struck.
A system notification shimmered in Damon’s vision:
[World Spirit’s Curse applied: Bloodrot – Your target’s regeneration is halted. Defense reduced by 60%. Fire resistance suppressed.]
Damon’s eyes widened. He hadn’t expected Azuna’s attack to be so powerful, but then again, he knew little to nothing about her. He really needed to find out more information about her and her abilities.
"Master, I am unable to linger here any longer." Azuna’s voice sweetly whispered in his ears.
Damon nodded. "You have done more than enough for me. Please rest now."
This was enough. This was more than enough. He charged forward with several crimson lances appearing around him. At the same time, the black robed figure shot towards the wyrm. Damon grunted. "Nope. Buddy. Not going to happen." He had paid a huge price for this to happen, and there was no way he was going to let this dude undo everything at the last moment.
The beast tamer typically needed to be in touch with the beast or in the vicinity of the beast in order to intervene in anything. Considering who this was, Damon had no doubt that the guy had many ways to rescue the wyrm and completely heal it.
Under no circumstances could he allow that to happen. Once this guy got close, it was game over. "MARK!" Damon shouted as his shadow clone appeared next to the black robed guy to stall him.
Mark immediately got the message and dropped the fight he was currently in and charged at the black-robed guy. Unexpectedly, another voice chimed in as well. "You can count me in." A black figure appeared out of thin air directly behind the black robed guy, a dagger already slicing his throat.
Ghost! Damon instantly recognized the voice. He did not know how this guy appeared here, but he was more than happy to let him deal with the problematic guy. Right now, this wyrm was his prey, and he needed to devour it!
Between Damon’s shadow clone and Mark and Ghost, the black-robed figure could not move an inch. "You do not know what you are dealing with. Stop now before it’s too late." The black robed figure finally opened his mouth and spoke, but it was already too late. Ghost finished him off in a couple of moves, thanks to the strong assist from Mark.
Almost immediately, Damon could feel the wyrm’s strength weaken tenfold. It was already weak because of the corruption, and now with this, the wyrm was no longer untouchable. Damon shot forward without hesitation and this time boldly used 40% of his mana core charge, the absolute limit he could handle.
He gritted his teeth and conjured a flaming crimson lance. The very air warped around it, trembling with condensed power. Damon’s arms trembled too from the strain. Channeling 40% of his mana core into one attack was no small feat. It was like trying to hold back a volcanic eruption with your bare hands.
But he didn’t falter. He hurled the lance with all his might.
The moment it made contact with the beast’s chest, a vortex of bloodflame erupted outward like a star going supernova. The wyrm’s scales liquefied in a blink. Its ribs cracked, then shattered, and a gout of blood, half flame, half essence, exploded from its body.
Damon quickly absorbed all of it, everything that he could take in. His body sucked in the rich powerful essence like a hungry devil and blood essence from all of the battlefield was pulled into his body.
Crimson tendrils from all over the battlefield shot towards him. He was a one-man spectacle for everyone to see. His power continued to surge, and a tortured, broken screech left the wyrm’s throat, one that echoed for miles.
The beast crashed into the ground, carving a trench into the earth like a meteor impact. The battlefield shook with aftershocks as chunks of molten rock and bone flew into the air. Its limbs twitched uncontrollably. It was sending out seething waves of fire in all directions out of rage and agony.
Damon did not let the chance slip by. Even as his body was pulling in all of the blood essence, even as his mana core screamed as if it was about to explode, he pushed himself one more time, conjuring another flaming crimson lance, one with 50% of his power output this time.
He had to make this count!
