SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God
Chapter 244: Right back at you

Chapter 244: Right back at you

In Earth Online, the pure build beast masters could be considered as one of the weakest classes. This was because a beast could not be resurrected after dying without the aid of a healer or another specific item or potion. If a beast died during combat, it was typically just dead, unlike a player who can automatically respawn.

This was the main difference between a beast master and a summoner class. The summoner class was considered superior as the summons returned to their plane to resurrect and recuperate after a lethal injury.

However, the beast master class was balanced in certain other ways to make up for this drawback. The growth potential and evolution potential of tamed beasts were much higher than those of the summons.

And this was precisely why Damon knew he had to act now if he wanted to deal a huge blow to whoever orchestrated this whole damn thing. Bringing a wyrm to a dog fight was ballsy, admirable and fear inducing but one needed to be able to face the consequences for doing so.

If the right cards were played, a threat could sometimes turn into a liability.

The wyrm wasn’t a summon, it was a tamed beast. Which meant, under the right conditions, if it died... it would stay dead. Permanently. Its loss would be catastrophic. The effort, the resources, the prestige behind capturing and training such a beast, it would all go up in smoke.

The guild that brought it, the player who tamed it, they had gambled everything on the wyrm’s overwhelming power. But that gamble cut both ways. Because in doing so, they had also given Damon the opportunity to kill it.

And Damon was going to kill it. No matter what.

His figure disappeared from the blood hall, and he once again appeared near the wyrm, which was now wreaking havoc on the battlefield.

Mark was several injured just from exchanging a couple of blows with the huge beast. Kate was only barely holding on, and that was because she was running most of the time in between throwing a couple of long-range attacks. She wasn’t doing all that much, so the wyrm wasn’t paying attention to her.

Its focus right now was entirely on Ellora and a few other vampire NPCs who had completely surrounded it.

Damon quickly observed the status of the battle. The vampires were planning their own thing so Damon decided not to fuck with their plan and burst the coordination. The wyrm was at full health after all. There was no rush. Instead, his gaze locked onto the remaining elites on the battlefield.

He shadow stepped and appeared behind one elite paladin after another and made quick work of them by unleashing the power of his legendary mana core. His three-element combined attack, along with the boosts from his mana core and his newly acquired traits, increased the damage output of his attacks by almost tenfold, and he was pulling ridiculous numbers.

Most of the elites could only withstand one or two of the attacks before crumbling. In the midst of this, Damon also did not forget to use Flame explosion and massacred the numbers on their side. His gaze searched the battlefield constantly for one other target, the black robed man, but he was nowhere to be found.

Damon could only continue searching for the guy, or for that matter, any other elite players who had snuck into the battlefield as he slaughtered the light faction army. There were also about twenty more divine steeds for him to drink from.

All in all, it was glorious chaos, and he was loving it. The 20 points of strength he had gained from devouring all the divine steeds did a lot to help. The tide was quickly turning, and the impact from the wyrm’s entry and the buff’s time out was finally being evened out.

Soon, the second part of the second wave was completely taken care of, and the last reinforcements of the second wave arrived in style.

They descended from the sky like radiant judgment, knights clad in burnished gold and silver armor riding on massive griffins, divine rays trailing behind them as if the heavens themselves had split open to deliver vengeance.

The third reinforcement unit of the second wave had arrived, and they were anything but subtle. Trumpets blared across the battlefield, holy banners fluttered, and a divine aura flooded the field like a tsunami, pushing back shadows and igniting the bloodied ground with halos of searing light.

Even Damon had to take a step back, faced with the might of those who had awakened their sea of consciousness and imprinted runes onto them. The magic unleashed by a C rank being was nothing short of cataclysmic.

This wasn’t some mere elite mob dump. These were raid-level NPCs and high-tier players who had officially stepped into the realm of real power. fr\eewe.bn(o)v\el.c(o)m

Damon’s pulse raced. Their time was officially running out. He had already given his best. Even people he was not counting on ended up contributing in the last minute, but was all of this still enough to achieve the impossible?

Was it enough to get to the tipping point where the big shots in the vampire clan would pay attention to them?

Damon glanced at the blood hall to see if anything happened in response to the powerhouses who had just arrived, but the blood hall showed absolutely no signs of movement at all. This was not good. The flow of the battle had to change now.

Damon disappeared from his position and reappeared near the wyrm. It was time he stopped fucking around. This big beast was the only chance he had now, and he needed to grab it right now!

"Hey! You overgrown lizard! Want a taste of my thick spear one more time?" Damon loudly shouted as a blazing crimson lance appeared in his hand again. This one containing 20% of his mana core power.

The wyrm’s massive head whipped around at the sound of Damon’s taunt, molten eyes narrowing in fury.

The wyrm’s wings flared wide, gusting winds across the battlefield and kicking up debris like a sandstorm. Several lesser players were flung back like ragdolls, but Damon stood firm, the crimson lance pulsing in his grip like a miniature sun.

"That’s right," he muttered, voice low and vicious. "Come at me."

And come it did.

The wyrm let out an ear-splitting screech, shaking the very air as it lunged forward with terrifying speed for something of its size. Damon moved just as fast. He blurred, dodging to the side. With one swift motion, he hurled the lance straight into the wyrm’s exposed underbelly, right where its scales had begun to crack from earlier magical bombardments.

A blinding explosion of bloodfire erupted across the battlefield. The wyrm roared in agony, its flesh seared and steaming. Chunks of its golden crimson armor were blown away, revealing tender muscle and veins pulsing with fire essence.

In retaliation, the big beast opened its maw, unleashing a breath attack that painted the battlefield in apocalyptic flame.

Once again, the familiar fire circle appeared, preventing Damon from escaping, but it was already late. He was nowhere to be seen.

The only people in the vicinity of the devastating flames were three of the newly arrived reinforcements, the C-rank powerhouses landing on their griffins.

And they were welcomed with a glorious blast of wyrm’s fury!
