Chapter 969: Chapter 974: A Rare Opportunity
Finally, after purchasing two houses and casually picking up five cars, Yang Yi and his companions returned to the real estate agency.
When the brand-new, yet-to-be labeled Lexus drove up to the parking lot of the agency, they already drew attention, but it was only after the three of them got out of the car that those who had just seen them became truly astounded.
They had arrived in an ordinary old car just moments before, so how had it suddenly turned into a luxury vehicle?
In the United States, luxury cars aren’t plentiful, so a Lexus really was enough to turn heads.
Yang Yi and his group entered the real estate agency, and now it was time to sign contracts and wait to make payment and receive the properties, which required a series of procedures and took some time.
Angelina was still there, so when she saw Yang Yi and his party return, she was a tad surprised.
Usually, if people looked at houses but didn’t buy them, they wouldn’t come back, but Angelina was just slightly surprised, given that the time was too short, too short for a house to be sold.
With a polite smile directed at Yang Yi and Walter, Angelina didn’t feel like approaching them for a chat; she had already made a hasty retreat earlier, and another meeting was a bit awkward, let alone more conversation.
You have to trust the professionalism of real estate agents, even if they assess a client as not very promising, they would never resort to sarcasm. Accidental condescension might happen, but that doesn’t mean they need to vocalize it, right?
Yang Yi settled onto the sofa, and after Judy brought him and Walter their coffees, she hurried off to the manager’s office.
Angelina wanted to stop Judy to ask something, but she didn’t. If there were contracts to be signed, the clients would be taken to a dedicated area, not sign in the lobby.
But, the problem was Yang Yi specifically wanted to sign in the lobby, not for any other reason but to let Angelina see.
To slap someone in the face like this wasn’t something Yang Yi usually took interest in; mainly because he seldom encountered a chance. The people he met were exceedingly polite, even if they cursed him as a nouveau riche or a bumpkin behind his back. He had never faced direct unpleasantness, so he rarely had the opportunity to flaunt his wealth or prove naysayers wrong.
But this time he had a chance, and how could Yang Yi miss it? You have to know that for a wealthy person, the opportunity to play a wolf in sheep’s clothing was too rare, so of course he had to enjoy it.
Soon, a baffled manager was brought out.
Although Judy had already told her superior that her client was something special, having bought two luxury homes and casually purchased five cars, the problem was that the manager didn’t believe her. Who would believe such a story at face value, right? He only thought Judy had been fooled or was boasting.
So when the manager stood in front of Yang Yi, though respectful, his attitude was quite probing.
"Good afternoon, gentlemen, uh, my employee mentioned that you plan to buy two houses, is that correct?"
Angelina perked up her ears.
Yang Yi smiled, not bothering to stand up, and said indifferently to the manager, "Yes, I want to buy two houses. I heard you provide professional inspection services, what’s the fee?"
"Yes, we do offer an additional professional inspection service. Based on the two properties you are interested in, the total fee will be eleven thousand US dollars, valid for one week. We have a form that includes all inspection items and fees. If you find any issues after moving in..."
"That’s enough, no need to say more. Problems mean a full refund, right? Very well, I’ll take both properties. I delegate you to sign the contract with the seller on my behalf, and I’ll pay with my card right now, please bring me the contract, I won’t repeat myself."
The manager hesitated for a moment, not briefly but for several seconds, then he finally realized what was happening.
Two properties, one had been on the market for half a year, the other nearly a year, were sold simultaneously, with no bargaining, no quibbles, just like that.
Curiously, the manager glanced at Angelina, since, in his memory, she rather than Judy should have been responsible for these two properties.
Just as the manager was about to say something to Angelina, Yang Yi smiled and said, "Additionally, I am very satisfied with Miss Judy’s enthusiastic and professional service. I want to confirm that she is indeed my agent, correct? So the commission would go to her, right?"
The manager hesitated again, and Angelina’s facial expression became very colorful, incredibly so.
Regret? Confusion? A hint of rage from feeling slighted, along with puzzlement over her misjudgment, made her face quite expressive.
The manager took a breath and said, "This..."
Yang Yi smiled and interjected, "No? Oh, if not... then I’m not buying."
"Of course she is! Sir! Since Miss Judy served you, she will certainly be your designated agent. She will handle your case until you receive your properties, sir, please come with me to the VIP lounge to sign the contract!"
Yang Yi waved his hand, saying, "No need to go there, let’s sign here, please hurry, I’m short on time."
Fearing Yang Yi might change his mind, the manager swiftly brought the standard contract, hurriedly had Yang Yi confirm all terms, and then immediately signed his own name.
Yang Yi signed his name, and thus a power of attorney for purchasing homes was signed.
Next came the most crucial step, the payment.
Yang Yi needed to pay the full purchase amount to the agency first, which then would facilitate the property purchase on his behalf. If the agency could negotiate the price down—not that it was ethical—but given the chance to double-dip, the agency wouldn’t pass it up, and the saved money would go into their pockets.
Yang Yi took out his card, swiped it, and amidst Judy’s, Angelina’s, and the manager’s profound skepticism and anticipation that his card would be declined, he paid off the entire amount, more than ten million US dollars just like that.
Angelina’s facial expression finally froze; she sat still in a chair, staring at the folder in front of her, motionless, lost in thought.
Yang Yi whistled, then put away his card, and with the manager utterly confused, he smiled and said, "I also bought a few cars and now have no place to store them. I’d like to delegate Miss Judy to receive the cars for me and keep them in the garage, any problem?"
Without waiting for Judy to reply, the manager immediately said, "Of course not! Absolutely not! It’s our honor, sir. I will personally ensure your cars are looked after, nobody will touch them!"
Yang Yi smiled, "Oh, it’s fine if Miss Judy handles it. Uh, never mind, actually I was also thinking about hiring a butler or something, but let’s set that aside for now. Another thing, I bought a Koenigsegg as a gift for my girlfriend; please have someone very carefully cover it with a custom car cover, this car is the most important. Also, please call me when my RS6 arrives, that’s all, thank you."
