Chapter 936 - 941

Chapter 936: 941

Trash bags don’t move on their own unless there’s a stray cat in a large trash can or there’s someone.

Yang Yi’s heart tightened because there were people next to that garbage can, and there were two of them. Why would two people be standing next to the trash can? Because it was on a street corner.

Guarding the corner and then searching house by house was a standard search routine.

But how long had those two been there?

Yang Yi took a breath and then smiled at Xiao Ran, "Do you have any trash to throw away?"

Xiao Ran hadn’t noticed before, but after giving Yang Yi a strange look, she whispered, "No, oh, yes."

Xiao Ran opened her small shoulder bag and pulled out a few tissues, wiped her face with them and then naturally looked towards the garbage can.

The garbage can was large, the kind that nearby residents used for their domestic waste.

Talking to Yang Yi, Xiao Ran approached the garbage can and then casually tossed the used tissues into it.

It was impossible to rummage through the trash because after those two men glanced at Yang Yi and her, they looked away. Yet, they were only four or five meters away from the garbage can. Any disruption of the trash would surely alert the lookouts.

Unable to rummage through the trash yet wanting to confirm if Justin was hiding inside, they would have to think of something.

Yang Yi and Xiao Ran got close to the two lookouts. The nearest people beyond them were another pair, about thirty meters to the north, guarding a larger intersection. In a different direction, towards the south down a small alleyway’s entrance, stood another person, approximately forty meters away.

There were people all around, but not many. So, even if Justin was here, it was worth taking the risk to try.

If Justin was in the garbage can, he should understand.

Suddenly, Yang Yi turned to Xiao Ran with a smile and said, "I am the Sea God! You think you can knock me out?"

Yang Yi spoke in English.

Then, Yang Yi heard a muffled thump against the garbage can.

Perhaps worried that Yang Yi heard the sound but wouldn’t confirm, a muffled cry also followed.

"I’m here."

That’s it, no need for words, time to act.

Yang Yi’s palm snapped up, striking a burly man’s throat beside him, then he spun around and delivered a punch to the Adam’s apple and another to the temple, knocking the second man to the ground.

Neither of the men was dead, but they could only struggle to try and draw their guns. Yang Yi dealt each a kick and they immediately stopped moving.

Xiao Ran quickly bent down and after searching one of the burly men, pulled a Beretta M92 pistol from his waist. She then reached under the armpit of the other man and drew a Glock 17.

As Xiao Ran drew the guns, Yang Yi ran to the garbage can. Before he could even start shifting the trash bags, a person with a trash bag over their head abruptly stood up.

Reeking of foul odor, Justin tore the bag off his head and then took a deep breath, urgently saying, "I was suffocating!"

Still able to talk nonsense, Yang Yi grabbed Justin, dragging him out of the trash can. At that moment, one of the lookouts turned towards them.

"Over here! Where is he?"

With an earth-shattering shout, everyone turned to look at the arm pointing at Yang Yi, and then they saw Yang Yi himself, along with the Justin he was dragging.

"Don’t waste time talking, just run."

Xiao Ran immediately raised her handgun, firing three shots in rapid succession, taking down a person who was closest to her and had just yelled out. She quickly swung her gun around and dropped another person who had just drawn their firearm.

As Xiao Ran fired, Kate, who was only a supporting distance away from her and Yang Yi, let out a piercing scream and took off running.

Kate was running toward the person who had drawn their gun and started shooting at Yang Yi and his group.

Xiao Ran had killed two people, but she couldn’t turn around to fire back; hence, she could only sprint towards Yang Yi, getting backed into a corner.

Kate screamed as she ran past, but as she passed the person aiming the gun at Xiao Ran, she, looking terrified as if startled and running blindly, suddenly threw a punch. She first knocked the gun to the ground, delivered a brutal knee strike, then followed with a powerful elbow smash downward, eliminating the most significant threat to Yang Yi and Xiao Ran.

Just as Kate had dealt with the first man, another man who burst out of the alley reached her. Seeing his fallen comrade, the gunman who had just rushed out pointed his weapon at Kate.

Kate could really fight.

Calmly, she slapped away the handgun and landed a hook to her assailant’s chin. Kate floored her opponent with a single punch.

Bending down to pick up the gun, Kate hesitated for a moment, but she still pulled the trigger.

After two gunshots, Yang Yi and Xiao Ran had already rushed to Kate’s side.

Yang Yi was holding a gun in one hand and Justin in the other, Xiao Ran was only holding a handgun, and Kate, without saying anything, immediately followed the trio and began sprinting forward.

They were still far from breaking out of the encirclement, and masses of enemies would surely descend on them incessantly. This wasn’t just about breaking out of a circle; the whole of Rome, even the entire Italy, was the enormous cage from which Justin needed to escape.

But the most pressing thing, for now, was definitely to keep running.

Xiao Ran led the way; she suddenly stopped, raised her gun, and fired wildly, dropping three of the five people who appeared in front of them. The remaining two ducked behind the corner of a wall, which posed a new issue for Yang Yi and his group about whether to keep charging forward or not.

Gritting his teeth, Yang Yi whispered, "Keep charging!"

"No shit!"

Xiao Ran started up again, disregarding the bullets fired by scared enemies hiding behind the corner who hardly dared to show their faces.

When Xiao Ran reached the street corner, she dove forward, firing several shots at the two hiding behind the wall, then got up from the ground and picked up another handgun.

The enemy didn’t even have proper rifles, which was good news.

Listening to the gunfire behind him, Yang Yi crept and ducked behind a corner.

The enemies were increasing in number.

"What do we do? What do we do?"

Justin anxiously asked Yang Yi, who, after peeking around the corner, pointed straight ahead and said, "Go forward, there’s no one there so run in that direction!"

Now, they really had no other options besides running blindly. At least twenty people were behind them, and it was uncertain how many enemies might emerge from the houses they were searching. But if there was no one in front right now, they had no choice but to run forward.

The situation was dire, so Yang Yi let go of Justin. If Justin could run, he should run. If he couldn’t keep up and slowed them down, then he deserved to die. Yang Yi found it too frustrating to end up dying for Justin, who couldn’t even run for his life.
