Chapter 878: Chapter 883: Not Playing by the Rules
Before Yang Yi entered, he had already noticed Hans and Paul guarding the door; the people inside the safe house had been informed, so he entered without even knocking.
Kate opened the door, and Yang Yi walked straight in, then he saw a middle-aged man sitting on the couch, pale-faced, along with the person he used as a basis for judgment.
Unexpectedly, Brian’s team had also brought the person who was sitting in the passenger seat.
"Well done."
After nodding to Brian’s team and complimenting them, Yang Yi directly asked, "Did you get anything out of him? Is it... him?"
Brian said gravely, "Not sure, he has been silent all along, and since we just arrived here, we hadn’t started questioning him before you came. Where is the Queen?"
"She’s erasing our traces and dealing with the police; I came over by myself."
After speaking, Yang Yi looked towards the middle-aged man on the couch.
He appeared to be in his fifties, thin, dressed in a well-fitted suit, wearing rimless glasses, and his fingers were interlaced on his lap. Although he looked somewhat nervous, he was still relatively composed.
Yang Yi pondered for a moment, then he addressed the man in front of him sternly, "Are you Steve Zola?"
The man remained silent, sitting there nervous yet composed.
Not talking, not panicking, not inquiring about their identities like ordinary people would, Steve really was experienced. Despite facing a significant ordeal, having been with Deyo for many years and experienced much had informed him of his current situation.
Capturing someone alive was much harder than killing them, Steve understood; since he was captured, he didn’t have to worry about being killed.
"Tough guy, huh? Did you search him?"
Yang Yi looked at Brian, who pulled out a wallet from his pocket and handed it to Yang Yi.
Yang Yi took the wallet, which contained no identification but several cards.
He pulled out a credit card, looked at the signature on the back, and laughed, "George Maken, why isn’t it Mr. Zola?"
Yang Yi wasn’t disappointed, for if Steve wasn’t foolishly bold, he wouldn’t use his real name on a credit card. Thus, even if all the bank cards in this wallet bore the name George Maken, it didn’t prove that the man before him wasn’t Steve Zola.
Yang Yi casually placed the wallet on the coffee table in front of him, pulled over a chair, and then said sternly, "Tell me your name."
Still silent, but this time Yang Yi didn’t wait long, expressing sincerely, "It’s not hard to verify your identity, you know that. Right now, it’s me talking to you, but if you refuse to answer, he will have to talk to you, and believe me, you will regret it when he starts questioning you."
Yang Yi pointed at Anton, then he said sternly, "Mr. Zola, I invited you here to cooperate, so I certainly want to be polite, but my politeness is limited to Mr. Zola, do you understand?"
Slightly moved, the middle-aged man sitting in front of Yang Yi finally said gravely, "Yes, I am Steve Zola."
Yang Yi sighed in relief, smiled slightly, and said, "That’s a good start. Then, you might have guessed why we invited you."
Steve again remained silent.
Yang Yi spread his hands and then said helplessly, "Mr. Zola, if you continue to be uncooperative like this, I’m at a loss."
After speaking, Yang Yi pointed to a young man lying unconscious on the floor, then he whispered, "What’s this?"
"Knocked him out, do you need him to wake up?"
Yang Yi nodded, "Let him wake up."
Anton picked up a cup of water and poured it over the young man’s head; shortly after, the young man’s limbs twitched and he woke up.
"Who are you... don’t kill me!"
Predictably, that was his first phrase upon waking. Yang Yi shrugged his shoulders, then he asked Steve, "So, who is he?"
Steve continued his silence.
The young man glanced at Steve, looked at Yang Yi, and after surveying his surroundings, his trembling body seemed to relax a bit; he slowly sat up from the ground, then he looked at Steve and said, "Sir... we..."
Yang Yi raised his hand, stopping the young man from speaking further, then he pointed at Steve and said very gently, "Who is he?"
The young man hesitated, although visibly terrified, yet he still did not answer Yang Yi’s question.
Yang Yi nodded, "I understand. Mr. Zola, I’ll give you one last opportunity. If you still remain uncooperative, then I’ll have to let someone else ask you. Starting with something simple, who is he?"
What the question was didn’t matter, the young man’s identity whom Yang Yi pointed at didn’t matter either; what was important was Steve’s attitude.
But Steve remained silent.
In such a situation, such backbone was rare.
Yang Yi spread his hands then looked at Anton, "You handle it."
Anton stepped forward, standing behind the young man, but his gaze was fixed on Steve.
After coldly glancing at Steve and seeing no response, Anton suddenly reached out, and without giving anyone a chance to stop him, he grabbed the young man’s head and sharply twisted it.
With a crack, Anton released his hands, and the young man slumped lifelessly backward.
Steve’s eyes widened, then he shouted loudly, "No!"
Anton calmly said, "Too late, he’s dead."
Yang Yi was taken aback; he wanted Anton to take over, to scare Steve a bit, but he didn’t expect Anton to kill the young man whose name was still unknown.
It was too decisive, not even giving a chance for fear or regret.
Steve was in shock, looking at Anton, then at Yang Yi, he angrily said, "Why did you do that?"
Anton stepped over the young man’s body, standing in front of Steve, calmly said, "You thought we were just scaring you, right? You thought I would torture him first to make you afraid, right? You thought we would get some information out of him, right? No, you were wrong, we don’t follow the usual ways, so he’s dead."
After speaking, Anton took another step forward, then he looked at Steve sternly and said, "I won’t give you a second chance; now, you decide, will you answer when asked, or would you prefer an experience so painful you’d wish to die but can’t?"
Steve quickly realized his situation and then said gravely, "Please ask."
Yang Yi sighed, "Why did it have to come to this? Old demon, take care of the body. Mr. Zola, tell me how Deyo died."
