Chapter 849: Chapter 854: Sense of Crisis

Yang Yi couldn’t explain why, but he always felt a sense of crisis looming.

At this point, they still didn’t know what Ian held in his hands. Judging from his confidence, Ian definitely possessed something extraordinary, otherwise, he wouldn’t be this assured.

Initially, they knew Ian was important, but they hadn’t realized just how critical his role was; if he wasn’t merely a designer assembling components but someone who mastered battery technology, then Ian’s worth was immeasurable.

Zhao Qiang stood up, his action startling both Eric and Ian.

"Since we are leaving, we might as well leave now."

Ian, somewhat bewildered, responded, "Though it’s urgent, it’s not that urgent. I haven’t even eaten yet, uh, alright, let’s go now."

Zhao Qiang nodded, then turned to Yang Yi, "Please follow me, I have something I need you to do. You two, please wait a moment, it won’t take long."

Zhao Qiang certainly was a man of immediate action, but Yang Yi wasn’t inclined to dilly-dally either. Since Zhao Qiang was in such a rush, they might as well finish the task quickly.

Yang Yi stood up and followed Zhao Qiang outside the restaurant.

On the street, Zhao Qiang lit a cigarette and handed one to Yang Yi, then whispered, "I don’t smoke, but coming out for a smoke serves as a good excuse from a non-smoking restaurant."

Yang Yi lit the cigarette and smiled, "You’re in such a hurry, yet you still have the mood for small talk."

Zhao Qiang responded calmly, "It’s exactly because I’m in a hurry that I need to engage in small talk. Li Wei is more crucial than we anticipated. Initially, we thought it was a systematic effort, but it now appears Li Wei might hold the greatest fortune himself."

Of course, Li Wei referred to Ian. Yang Yi blew a smoke ring, "Yes, that’s why we’re in such a hurry."

Zhao Qiang whispered, "The Christmas tree is an unpredictable factor. Can we eliminate it?"

Yang Yi was taken aback, "Eliminate?"

"Yes, if Li Wei is truly that important, all unexpected factors must be eradicated. I just used the resignation talk to downplay Ian’s importance, but I realized none of it matters now. We cannot cover up the matter anymore, we must get Li Wei back to our country as soon as possible."

After finishing, Zhao Qiang sighed lightly, "I don’t know why, but I always feel this sense of urgency, like something bad is about to happen."

Yang Yi frowned, "Hey, don’t be a harbinger of doom."

Zhao Qiang looked calm, but he rubbed his right eye and whispered, "Right eye twitching is a bad omen, right?"

"Come on, you still believe that?"

"I don’t, but my right eye keeps twitching, and I’ve never faced such a huge issue in my life. The stakes are too high!"

Zhao Qiang took a hard drag of his cigarette and asked again, "Can the Christmas tree be eliminated?"

"No, he won’t be a threat. If he becomes a threat, I definitely will take care of him, okay?"

Zhao Qiang shook his head and said, "Forget it, now is not the time to consider this issue. The situation is urgent. I must leave immediately to report this. You take some people to get the hard disk from Li Wei’s house, hand it to me after you get it, and then send the person out by the fastest means possible. Just do it that way. Let’s all get moving, and keep in touch if anything changes. I’m leaving."

Yang Yi said in astonishment, "You’re leaving?"

Zhao Qiang whispered, "I’m not much of a fighter, and if something really happens, I’d be more of a burden than a help. We should have handled this ourselves, but now moving quickly is more important than anything. It’s up to you, brother. We’ll take over as soon as possible, but before we do, make sure nothing goes wrong. Time, time is everything!"

Yang Yi spread his hands and said, "Alright, you’re really decisive when you act. Let’s do it this way. I’ll get him out of here, starting by leaving the United Kingdom for France. Things will be easier once we get to France."

Zhao Qiang nodded. He patted Yang Yi on the shoulder and whispered, "Be quick, be careful, be very cautious, goodbye."

Zhao Qiang turned and walked away.

One must admit Zhao Qiang’s style of handling things was quite to Yang Yi’s liking. Sometimes, you don’t have to stay and help personally to show how much you care about something. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses and not messing up areas you’re not good at actually helped Yang Yi and Anton complete their mission more smoothly.

Yang Yi turned and entered the restaurant, then he said to Eric and Ian, "Ian, I’m going to your house with you to get the hard disk, buddy, you’re coming with us."

Eric looked at Yang Yi, then at Ian, and shrugged, "I’d rather not go."

Ian also said, "Yes, it’s fine if just the two of us go, there’s no need for Mr. Ryan to come. He has already helped me a lot, and I am very grateful, Mr. Ryan."

Ian’s demeanor was off; he was too polite to Eric.

If Eric and Ian’s relationship actually wasn’t that good, then how was he playing his role as the middleman?

No, the more this was the case, the more Yang Yi couldn’t let Eric leave. A sense of caution arose in his heart, and he said to Eric, "It would be better if you come with us until this is finished. Let’s go, buddy, it’ll be over soon."

If Eric absolutely refused to go, things could get complicated. Yang Yi felt a bit nervous, but fortunately, after a slight hesitation, Eric finally nodded, "Alright, let’s go together then."

Yang Yi breathed a sigh of relief, and at this point, he didn’t conceal anymore; he had to let Eric know that there were others covering him.

Yang Yi raised his wrist and whispered, "Old Demon, we’re going to Ian’s house, follow us, keep an eye on what’s happening around, and tell Iron Fist to be ready to receive our guest."

Ian looked shocked and said, "What’s going on, is there a danger?"

Yang Yi smiled and replied, "Danger? No, no, no, just the normal procedure, you can ask Mr. Ryan if you don’t believe me."

Eric nodded and said, "Yes, it’s always good to be a bit careful, let’s go."

The three got into a car. Yang Yi didn’t drive; instead, he let Eric drive so he could better observe their surroundings.

Yang Yi didn’t speak further; Eric seemed preoccupied, and Ian was still excited about the rosy picture Zhao Qiang had painted.

Ian’s house was not too far, only a twenty-minute drive. After they arrived, Yang Yi got out of the car and followed behind Ian, shoulder to shoulder with Eric, into the elevator.

In theory, nothing should happen since Ian was initially not much of a concern. Yet, what worried Yang Yi was where this damn sense of crisis was coming from?

Was it due to Zhao Qiang’s paranoia, or was it because Ian was too important, which in turn increased the pressure? Yang Yi was troubled because he couldn’t quite figure it out.
