Chapter 835: Chapter 840 Release
After three days, Yang Yi finally got what he wanted.
He placed a set of keys on the table, sat down on the couch, and sighed comfortably, "Finally got it sorted, Schultz. Set up the equipment, starting today you all won’t have to hide in the car to monitor anymore."
Brian glanced at the keys, "Did it go smoothly?"
"Smoothly, very smoothly. Ever since Pierre knew we wanted to buy his winery, he’s been eagerly inviting us to stay at his villa. Eventually, we rented his villa for half its market value."
Brian looked at Annastasia, who smiled at Yang Yi and then softly said, "I’ll have Schultz install the signal transmission system at the villa right away. From now on, only the two of you can be inside. It will be very tough if just you and Xiao Ran do the surveillance."
Yang Yi waved his hand and said, "No worries, it’s just peeking from the window, nothing tough about it."
Annastasia smiled, and Brian also started to chuckle, followed by Anton.
Yang Yi, puzzled, asked, "What are you laughing at?"
Anton shrugged while Brian, looking like he was addressing a younger man, said, "This is a long-term surveillance mission. Do you know what a long-term surveillance entails?"
"What?"
"Extreme boredom, extreme monotony, extreme tension. You’ll suffer insomnia, irritability, and anxiousness, then you’ll start to doubt yourself, and ultimately, you’ll break down if you don’t have someone else to help you with the surveillance."
Yang Yi had only done short-term surveillance before, so he was not very clear about the feeling of a long-term one. Hence, he skeptically responded, "I understand boredom, but is it really as exaggerated as you describe?"
"Try it and you’ll know," replied Anton flatly.
Brian said with a laugh, "Of course, assuming you’re a qualified and responsible observer. If you’re just glancing out the window a few times a day and calling it surveillance, then forget what I just said."
Yang Yi laughed and said, "Good thing I’m not alone. Oh, we can call Hans and Paul back. They don’t need to stay in the car anymore."
Just then, Schultz rushed out in a hurry, grabbed a bottle of water from the coffee table, twisted it open, and after guzzling a few sips, he urgently said, "Got any food? Is there any food? Give me something to eat, I’m starving!"
Schultz’s hair looked like a bird’s nest, and his eyes were red, ravenous like a wolf that hadn’t eaten for days.
Yang Yi was startled and asked, "What happened to you? Why do you look like you haven’t slept or eaten in days?"
Brian shrugged and said, "He hasn’t slept for days. He locked himself in a room and forbade anyone from coming near, and that’s why he ended up like this."
Ignoring Yang Yi’s question, Schultz urgently repeated, "Quick, give me something to eat. I’m starving to death."
Sitting down on the couch, Schultz took a long breath and exclaimed with a relief-filled face, "Finally done. It’s finally done!"
Yang Yi asked urgently, "What’s done?"
Schultz fiercely replied, "I and White Roar tracked down that person who installed the surveillance! Yes, we tracked her down!"
Yang Yi, growing anxious, sharply said, "What? Didn’t I tell you not to track her down? What if you get exposed!"
Schultz shook his head and said, "It won’t be exposed, definitely not. Trust me, I know the consequences of being exposed are severe, otherwise why would it have taken so long if it were not to ensure we went undetected?"
Taking a deep breath, Schultz struggled to sit up, then he said with a triumphant face to Yang Yi, "We’ve traced her. Now I’ll tell you who installed the surveillance, the person is ’Silent God’!"
Brian frowned and spoke in a seriously displeased tone, "Who dares to use such a blasphemous name!"
With a proud expression, Schultz replied, "It’s just a nickname, but he is the Silent God. This guy is incredible, let me tell you, he’s truly remarkable!"
Yang Yi suppressed his displeasure and asked sternly, "What is his real identity, and where does he live?"
"Real identity? I don’t know. Where he lives? Also don’t know. Can’t check; we’d be detected immediately. We only found out who did it – Silent God."
Yang Yi couldn’t help but laugh bitterly, saying in a frustrated tone, "You’ve been busy for three days, and all you’ve found is a name?"
Schultz replied excitedly, "Of course! Do you know who Silent God is?"
"Who?"
"A god-like figure! The most formidable hacker, he challenged fifteen hackers at a hacking conference and exposed them all. He’s the Silent God. Oh! This person works in cybersecurity, he’s the bane of hackers though he himself is one."
Schultz, extremely thrilled and a bit incoherent, stood up, swung his arms, and shouted, "We tracked him down! We know it was Silent God who did it, we know!"
After shouting a couple of times, Schultz looked at Yang Yi and the others and said, "Do you know what this means? White Roar and I, Black Roar, achieved this! I am the best hacker in the world. It’s me, it’s me!"
Plummeting back onto the couch, Schultz waved his fists and said, "We really did it, I knew I could do it, I knew it! Any food?"
Anton stood up and said, "Hang on, I’ll get you something."
"Thanks, I’m really starving and so sleepy, but it was all worth it, right? All worth it!"
Yawning deeply, Schultz rested his head on the sofa, sighed heavily, and said, "We really did it."
As his voice faded, Schultz closed his eyes and murmured, "I’m so tired, just going to close my eyes, I’m so hungry."
While speaking, Schultz fell asleep, just like that.
Yang Yi took a breath, then turned to Brian and said in a low voice, "Why didn’t you stop him?"
Annastasia replied softly, "It was my recommendation. I think for a young person like Schultz, it’s important to consider his needs and feelings and to trust him. After he ensured he wouldn’t be detected by the other party, I thought he and Tang Guo could pursue our potential enemy, especially since such opportunities are rare."
Annastasia continued quietly, "Sorry that I acted without your consent, but this was really necessary. If you don’t want Schultz to make an irreparable mistake under uncontrollable circumstances, then let him vent his emotional needs while under controlled circumstances."
Yang Yi had once been ruined by a hacker; once bitten, twice shy. Therefore, he was always concerned that Schultz might mess things up, but Annastasia’s words seemed to make sense as well.
