Chapter 829: Chapter 834: As Expected

Considering the French habit of striking whether they’re pleased or displeased, Michel’s words were quite trustworthy.

He had said that speaking up might lead to reprisals, while keeping silent meant nothing would happen. The choice was obviously an easy one.

Brian smiled contentedly, then said to Michel, "Very good, excellent. You are a smart man, Michel, I appreciate that. So not only will you face no harm, but you will also receive a cash reward."

Michel was stunned for a moment, then hurriedly said with a broad grin, "No need for a reward, as long as you don’t hurt me."

Brian leisurely replied, "Do you know what we are planning to do? We’re heading to the villas to pull a job, yes, we are professional criminals. We’re going to rob several wealthy households. According to our rules, we either have to eliminate you afterward to cover our tracks, or we buy your silence with money."

Michel looked extremely startled, Brian smiled and said, "Since you’re cooperating so well, I really don’t want to kill you. It’s easier to just pay you off—it saves time, and once you have the money, I reckon you won’t think of reporting us to the police."

Michel hesitated, Brian said with a smile, "The money won’t be given to you now. It will be handed over after everything is done, let’s say ten thousand Euros, of course, if you refuse this money, I would be very displeased."

After finishing speaking, Brian gestured to Paul and said, "Get ready."

Paul, holding a phone, quickly walked outside and called Yang Yi.

"Ready for action."

"Understood."

Yang Yi didn’t hang up the phone, he told the people in the car in a grave voice, "Get ready."

The four men immediately got out of the car and began to move swiftly forward, Hank bursting with excitement as he flexed his fingers rhythmically.

Schultz, however, looked somewhat nervous. He was clutching a tablet with a keyboard attached—for, according to Schultz, using the keyboard would speed things up.

Yang Yi and his team approached the target house, stopping about thirty to forty meters away from the entrance.

Yang Yi picked up his phone and said softly, "In position."

He let out a sigh and intently watched the streetlight in front of him.

Ten seconds went by, then thirty seconds, then a minute—the streetlight remained lit.

Unable to contain himself, Schultz blurted out, "Why isn’t it working?"

Just as the words left Schultz’s mouth, the streetlight suddenly went out, but just as Yang Yi and his team were about to dash forward, the streetlight came back on.

"What’s going on?"

A stunned Yang Yi immediately asked on the phone, Paul replied quietly, "Don’t rush, wait for the second time."

Less than a minute after the light came back on, it unexpectedly plunged into darkness again, and this time Paul whispered over the phone, "Now!"

"Go!"

Yang Yi called out softly, and the four of them sprinted forward at the speed of a hundred-meter dash.

Hank wasn’t the first to reach the gate, as Yang Yi and Anton had outrun him, but just as Anton was about to look around, he noticed Hank simply pushing the gate open.

Two seconds to open the gate—faster than Hank had expected.

Hank was the first to rush through the gate, then he reached the front door and inserted two pieces of wire into the lock, which was fairly ordinary.

Hank’s hands trembled at high speed, and then he opened the lock even faster than one would with a normal key and pushed the door open.

Hank was the first to enter the house, then he whispered urgently, "There’s a camera, come here!"

By this time, exactly ten seconds had passed since the power went out. If calculated by the minimum ten-second blackout, Yang Yi and his team had achieved their intended goal.

A camera was placed on the coffee table facing the door. Hank gestured for the four to hide behind the camera, then whispered, "There’s a camera but no infrared source—it’s not operational, now you can check other places, but be careful."

Yang Yi and Anton immediately rushed into various rooms in the house.

Yang Yi ran upstairs, carefully watching for cameras along the way. Even though there might be security devices, no one really wants to point cameras inside their own residence, hence the possibility of hidden cameras in the room was very slim.

Yang Yi reached a room on the west side of the second floor, which was one of two rooms ideally situated for monitoring Deyo’s residence. If someone was surveilling Deyo, it would be from here.

Sure enough, at the top rear of the window, there was a remote high-definition camera pointed at Deyo’s house.

"There’s a camera and a computer here, no internal monitoring equipment!"

Anton informed over the walkie-talkie.

Sure enough.

Yang Yi didn’t go to the adjacent room. Instead, he took out an ultra-small camera, looked around the room for a bit, then hid the camera inside the air conditioning vent. He also placed two bugs.

It took him less than a minute to install the camera and bugs, then Yang Yi moved to the next room, pointing to a corner to indicate where the camera was located.

Schultz was also busy. He connected his tablet to a laptop that was set on the table, rapidly typing on the keyboard.

"Can we go now?"

Yang Yi asked. Hearing his question, Schultz, without lifting his head, replied, "Just as I expected, using the laptop as a processor to transmit signals. The laptop has its own UPS power supply; however, the router and WiFi are down, the camera is off too, so currently the signal is interrupted. Even if the power comes back on, it will take some time before the network signal is restored, which is enough time for us to leave. So I’m seizing this opportunity to hack into this computer!"

"Do you really need to?" Yang Yi asked softly.

"It’s necessary! I must find out who the person on the other end is, and don’t worry, there’s no way they’ll detect me under these circumstances!"

Hank was busy too, cleaning up the traces Yang Yi had left in the next room.

Success isn’t just about getting in; it also requires getting out safely, undetected, and without leaving any traces.

At this moment, Anton approached Yang Yi and whispered, "The power outage is lasting longer than planned."

The longer the outage, the better, although Yang Yi and his team had already accomplished all their targets.

Yang Yi took out the phone he had never hung up and asked softly, "How long will the power be out?"

Paul replied quietly, "How long do you need? We can ensure a minimum of ten minutes of outage."

Ten minutes was more than enough. Yang Yi spoke softly, "Understood."

"The power will be out for more than ten minutes, plenty of time. But Schultz, don’t take any risks."

With Yang Yi’s reminder echoing, Schultz gave the keyboard one final, firm strike, then unplugged the data cable, confidently stating, "Done."
