Chapter 821: Chapter 826 Is it a Coincidence?

Yang Yi’s T-shirt cost four thousand Euros, and his shorts were priced at one thousand two hundred Euros; to him, these constituted extremely expensive clothes, even for a tycoon, given they were just a T-shirt and shorts after all.

But Anastasia deemed Yang Yi’s attire as cheap goods.

If compared with his shoes, indeed, his clothes were cheap, seeing as his shoes were valued at forty-five thousand Euros—a handcrafted piece by a renowned Italian shoemaker, and well, not even bespoke.

Then, his sunglasses were worth forty-six thousand US dollars, and his watch, one hundred and twenty-three thousand US dollars.

Yang Yi, who was adorned with clothing and accessories worth over two hundred thousand US dollars, had become numb to it all, because when compared to Xiao Ran at his side, well, one of her bags was worth everything he had on.

If you were to ask whether such attire was necessary, Yang Yi would say it hardly was, but according to Anastasia and Kate’s mutual view, not dressing this way while pretending to be a rich second-generation was simply a joke, and moreover, playing with one’s life.

Now you know why spies have always been big spenders, right? Why the United Kingdom had to slash MI6’s budget after its decline, and why intelligence agencies can’t be played by anyone but the richest and most powerful nations—it’s because it’s simply too costly.

A person’s complete getup isn’t just about one outfit, nor is it measured by a wardrobe; it’s about several rooms’ worth.

When Yang Yi and Xiao Ran sat across from Paul and Chris, Yang Yi couldn’t resist asking, "How do I look now?"

Chris seemed a bit puzzled as he looked at Yang Yi and then nodded, "You look quite sharp."

Yang Yi took off his sunglasses and ran his watch-adorned left hand through his hair, smiling, "And now?"

"Uh, nice hairstyle, oh, your clothes are pretty cool."

Yang Yi sighed, "Forget it, seems like you can’t recognize it, either."

Yang Yi had thought maybe Chris’s ex-girlfriend was a rich girl who might recognize his outfit, but it turned out Chris’s girlfriend’s family wasn’t wealthy enough, at least not enough to be familiar with the level of his attire, otherwise Chris should have been able to recognize it.

What is this? This is the difference in vision, the disparity in realms. Yang Yi’s attire was meant for the wealthy to appreciate. Stand on a busy street, and probably out of a hundred people, nearly all of them wouldn’t recognize it. Perhaps only one in ten thousand might grasp the value of what he was wearing.

Yang Yi couldn’t be bothered to flaunt his wear anymore, so he gestured with his hand and said, "Let’s hear it, what situation have you guys come across?"

Paul spoke solemnly, "There are people living in and taking care of Deyo’s house, but Deyo clearly isn’t inside. We checked the two neighboring houses—one of them is currently unoccupied; the owner is French but resides in Paris."

After a brief introduction, Paul continued helplessly, "We contacted the owner and subtly inquired whether he’d be willing to rent the house to us. The result wasn’t good—the owner said he doesn’t rent it out."

Chris shrugged, "Maybe we should bring in Hank. If the homeowner won’t rent to us, we could sneak in and stay hidden."

Yang Yi shook his head, "No, surveillance is a longterm task. None of us know when Deyo will arrive. Sneaking into the house might seem convenient, but over time, it’s too easy for problems to arise, so let’s not do that."

Chris sighed, "Right now, we can only stay in a hotel. The nearest one is too far from Deyo’s house, so we have to drive there, switching cars many times a day to watch whether Deyo moves in."

Yang Yi asked in a serious tone, "What about the other house? You mentioned one of the two neighboring houses could be used."

Chris laughed, then spoke in a low voice, "The interesting part is right here. Guess what’s up with the other house? Let me tell you, the other house has been rented out."

Yang Yi frowned, "Rented out?"

Chris nodded, "Yes, rented out. I asked the landlord when it was leased, and guess what–the other house was rented seven days after we sold the information about Deyo’s residence. Not exactly to the day, because the landlord only remembered approximately, but definitely within ten days after we sold the info!"

Yang Yi paused for a moment and said, "Long-term or short-term lease?"

"A long-term lease for a year! The landlord didn’t disclose the price, but I guess it was an offer he couldn’t refuse."

Yang Yi inhaled sharply and said, "This job’s pretty rough, but... it’s so direct. Not long after we sold the intel, the house next to Deyo gets rented out at a high price. Interesting, such coincidences must be connected to Deyo."

Xiao Ran whispered, "Someone wants to take out Deyo."

"Yes, and it’s very likely the Gong Yang guys. I sold the info to Justin, and as buyers of Justin’s intel, other than Big Ivan or Gong Yang, I can’t think of anyone else."

Having said that, Yang Yi started laughing and then nodded repeatedly, "Interesting, this is getting interesting. Why didn’t you tell me about this earlier?"

Chris looked aggrieved as he said, "We’ve just learned of this situation. We finished the call just as your plane landed. Boss, information isn’t that easy to get."

Yang Yi took a deep breath and asked, "Is there someone living in that rented house?"

Paul responded gravely, "No, we’ve observed for two days, and there’s been no sign of anyone coming or going."

Yang Yi frowned and said, "Renting a house with no one living in it, what’s that about? Oh, because Deyo isn’t in his either. But they should set up someone there for long-term surveillance either way. How could they not?"

Chris said, "My first thought was also that Big Ivan bought the intel to take out Deyo, which is why he’d rent the house. But with no one inside, that’s tricky to say."

Yang Yi inhaled and added, "Could it be Big Ivan’s doing? We need to figure that out. If the person who rented the house is just some wealthy individual with money to burn, we could find a way to sublease it. But if it’s truly Big Ivan who rented the house, then we shouldn’t disturb them. We’re still counting on Big Ivan to take out Deyo for us."

Paul said solemnly, "Should we investigate? How should we look into it, from the outside in or go straight inside?"

"Going in to investigate is risky, but without going in, we can’t ensure the investigation is effective. We’ll need to discuss this with everyone."

After pondering for a moment, Yang Yi started smiling, "It’s time to get Hank involved. He’s been idling for so long, finally, there’s a need for him. I think he’ll be quite excited."
